Thank God for TH-cam. So many skills I didn't acquire in school or by my parents that I need on a regular basis now. Cooking, clothing, and even parallel parking. Yup, did it right bumper to bumper first time without touching. Thanks to all the wonderful people on TH-cam for the lessons.

This is why community colleges should at least get back to offering home economics, even as a continuing education course. These skills are necessary and in high demand just like any other educational degree. I’m sure people’s bosses would like employees without wrinkled clothes. Lol education in everyday skills should be addressed in some level of school.

I agree 100%. The practice of forcing one's own taste in music on helpless viewers and listeners is truly abominable. On top of that, if the voice-over is fast, or strongly accented, one simply misses words and phrases!

Hello, the most important thing to remember when looking for a new ironing board is that it is wide with a deep cushioning, the brand is not important as long as it follows these guidelines. :)

Very important is set the iron to the right temperature. Check the label of the clothes.
If it's polyester trousers the material will melt if the temperature is to high, and that will leave a stain that can not be washed away!

Great video! I iron well but hate ironing creases into trousers. Have to do it though so your video makes it easy. However I always use a linen T towel to stop the shine. It really works. I am going to try the beating at the end to get a crisp line. Once you've done a good crease once you can just keep following it in future. Makes the trousers look really classy!, thanks again.

Thank you for your useful content... I am quite inexperienced in this matter, so I have two "basic" questions. 1. What sorts of fabric have to be pressed to avoid shine? Only wool, or also cotton or linnen? 2. Out of curiosity, what happens to the fabric, that it starts to shine after ironing? Thank you.

The width of your iron board is important; if it is a wide board it means that you will not have to move your garment at all when you are pressing it which will in turn help you create a straight line. Does this help?

Hello, no problem on the questions we enjoyed reading them. If you're thinking about buying a steamer you might benefit more from buying a better iron that allows you to control the steam on it, maybe a similar one to the one featured above.

I have been "ironing" my shirts and pants for half a century and never understood or really even thought about the difference between "ironing" and "pressing," and so have always avoided ironing my wool dress slacks myself, in fear of the dreaded shine that ruined some suits in my younger days. I notice you use a different iron in this video than you did for "TM Lewin How To Iron A Shirt". Do you have a favorite iron that you prefer? If you want to avoid recommending any brands, are there certain features you'd look for in an iron? I've heard a few people recommend Rowenta however the Oliso TG1100 looks pretty nice with automatic shut off and the "levitating" function.
I'm also looking for an ironing board, however it sounds like I'll just go for a wide, meshed-bottom board.

    Hi there!
I am new to ironing. My pants & shirt are made of a heavier cotton for work. I have looked around for different tutorials, however this one has helped THE MOST!
    I need advice.
I wear flat-front pants. My biggest struggle is lining up the pant-legs to press in creases. With seams lined up, as I reach the crotch area, the creases start to set off-course as the pants begin to shift and wrinkles start pushing upwards towards the top. It's as if the pants shouldn't line up naturally.

  • @anurruti
    @anurruti 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I have only found videos in YT that start with trousers/pants that are quite unwrinkled already.I'd like to see a video where they really do the ironing job.

I bought a heap of nice slacks at the thrift store. Some have pleted fronts some are flat fronts. I have pressed a crease down the middle of the pleated pant with it continuing into the pleat. However for the flat front pants, is it in style to press a crease down the middle. Or, should I press flat? (no crease down the front) The flat front pants do not have a hint of a center crease, so I'm not sure if I should put one in.

Is it a white stain or a white residue? White residue are usually mineral deposits from the water you used during the ironing. You can just wipe that off. If it's a shine, it'll still look black, just with a sheen. A white stain... I don't know how you did that.

I can't seem to control my iron when it comes to applying steam. Sometimes the steam comes out and other times it doesn't. My iron, a basic Proctor Silex, does not have a "button" to press like yours does. Is there a method to make the steam come out? Also, is it worth it to buy a steamer and would one steam an article of clothing and iron it? I know I have a lot of questions, just thank God I didn't ask for dating advice.
