@@mathalwaysii a torch works the best because it gives high heat very quickly. If you have a strong hairdryer, you could possibly get away with it on a small surface. 😊

Thank you. Are you wanting to apply it on a vertical surface? You can but would need to add a thickening agent. Also, you would want to prime good before you poured.
A couple of ways. You can add just a tick of color when you lay down the epoxy at the start. Maybe mix a little up in a cup and meld it into the finish. Or just very lightly fog and fracture like I did with the gray spray paint.
So if i'm not removing my countertops and there is a 4" countertop splash there, how would you recommend doing that? just the same way let it go all over and keep the corners, etc. clean?

Thank you so much for watching. I really do appreciate it. Are you wanting a big verticals surface? I’ve really never done that as a project. You have to add thickener and that often changes the color. I usually will pour on a flat surface then attach vertically to the wall. 😊😊
Excellent Video! We are trying to achieve this exact look over our brown granite. Did you suggest we change any of the steps since we are applying to granite? Did you have any videos on this application? Thank you in advance!
@@RK3Designs yep..when the hubby saw the epoxy running over the boards, etc....he was like "NOPE." I've been thinking of how I can do this with less mess.
It seems that the panel is VERY wavy before the top coat is applied. Can it be sanded smooth and before adding the top coat? Seems it might look more "real" that way...OR...put on a heavy clear coat? Thoughts?
This piece didn’t have a flood coat. Are you getting waves in your flood coat? That could be caused by air movement as the piece is curing. You can definitely sand before applying the Ultimate Top Coat if that’s what you’re referring to. I’m May be confused on the question though.
Love this look Rhonda. I want to do this for a basement kitchenette and wonder how it would look with just a hint of gold in there somewhere. Your opinion?
I think that would look stunning!!! You could mist with gold mica powder mixed with 91% alcohol or put a very fine gold vein. Either would really look good! 😊.
@@RK3Designs Do you think a gold glitter dusted on just blown out of the palm of the hand would look good as an additive? I love this one but not sure I want to do the fogging or misting...do you think it would still look nice that way?
Love this!!! After the epoxy drys, what do you seal it with? I'm a newbie and I want to do this right. Also what are all the products that you used in this video?
After the first coat dries, I put a flood coat which is the same product just without any additives. This clear cost gives you the durability. With the epoxy I use, Stonecoat Countertop, no sealer is required. It is very scratch and heat resistant and can be sanitized.
Exactly what I’ve been looking for, subtle white. We did the ceramic tile kitchen countertops and to some it’s a bit shocking to them, even though I went very simple. We encountered one problem, that you clarified in this video that I’m so thankful for your tips. We’re getting ready to pour an 8’ island, and I’m in love with this white granite. I’d like to know what you’re pouring on? We’ll be pouring on top of a 1 1/4” plywood. Any suggestions?
@RK3Designs could you pour over 3/4”plywood or does it need to be MDF board? I’m building a play kitchen for my grand daughter and thought this might be interesting to try.
I don't want any color in mine at all. If I didn't want any color in it but I want some white Shimmer effects could I stop with the two white accents you did and just chop that in and then do the top coat after that? What I really want is bright white countertops with a bit of Shimmer
Thanks! It's amazingly hard to find epoxy gun in pure white. And with some sparkle in it forget it LOL. You're the first one so I'm thankful for that other lady's question because I want it even more simple than that and I didn't know what I wanted to purchase and now I do!
Great subtle color choices! I'm still in the phase of convincing myself that I can attempt it. My only question is I've seen most videos that have used respirators because of the fumes. Isn't that required or do you have a great ventilation system in your work area? Thanks for sharing!
Rhonda, I'm having my beach house built in Belize. I have my stone coat Epoxy & RESIN ready. I love your technique, however you didn't mention you used RESIN in your pour? I'm confused, do I not need resin? Did I miss you saying Resin?
ALL epoxy will Amber over time no matter what brand. I use Stonecoat Countertop epoxy which has some of the highest UV additives on the market. When doing anything white, I use their Art Coat with the maximum UV protection. Actual yellowing of a countertop is usually caused by the color additives used to tint, and react with the epoxy. The natural Ambering could take years but constant sunlight and certain chemicals can speed the process.
I've never had an issue with yellowing. I'm also using SCC new white base tint! It's amazing. Also, if your concerned about yellowing, I would use the SCC Art Coat instead of the regular SCC epoxy. It has more UV protection.
I have the regular epoxy already can I begin with that then put on the art coat over the regular as a flood coat? Then finally the ultimate top coat over it all to prevent yellowing?
Hi Rhonda! Is there a quick list of items to order for this White Granite look? Just want to be sure I order the correct items. Thank you so much, this is amazing!!
@@RK3Designs Hi again! Starting my project later this evening and quick question. In the video you mix epoxy with SC white base tint. Is that the same as SC white epoxy undercoat? Does that replace the Alumilite? And how much white base tint do I add to epoxy? Hope that makes sense and thank you so much for your help ")
Hi Rhonda, I am super inspired, this is gorgeous ! Do you have a link so I can buy the materials that you are using, I checked stone coat countertop and I couldn't find the white base tint or Rustoleum costal grey, please advise and thanks in advance.
Thank you!! The white base is the Alumilite white opaque dye. This is all I use now and I LOVE it. You can get it on the SCC website. The spray paint I get from Home Depot. I have had people tell me some colors aren’t available at all the stores. Any light gray and be substituted. 😊
This is exactly what I'm looking to achieve with my kitchen granite countertops however my granite goes vertical up the backsplash of our counters also. Don't think it looks possible to do this. Any suggestions you might have Rhonda?
Is the backsplash integrated with the countertop? If so you can let the epoxy set up a bit before you apply to the backsplash. It will be difficult to achieve the same look as the flat surface. I would maybe do a design that you can apply and let dry before you add the epoxy. I have a couple of videos on that on my channel. 😊
You should be able to do this finish with most epoxies. Just make sure you don’t torch unless you’re sure it’s not flammable. Different epoxies may have shorter open times
That looks great! Very similar to what I want. I already made my order from SCC and just got the epoxy and white dye, no powders. Could I acheive a similar effect with just alcohol and spray paint? I was thinking of using the grey textured rust-oleum, I think I've seen you use it on other projects. Thanks for your input!
Is the Behr paint and primer in one a water based product or an alkyd based product? If I'm going to be redoing a laminate kitchen countertop and I put the stone coat primer required for better adhesion is this product compatible?
The Behr P&P is a water base paint. If your going over laminate or anything slick or shiny, you’ll need to use a good bonding primer. I really like XIM. Make sure it’s a BONDING primer. Then you can use the Behr P&P. 😊
I love this look! I was visiting with ATD during a class. We were talking about what to do with my new kitchen renovation. I’ll try this one on a big piece as you suggested. Thank you!
Hello, I 'm going to place an order with the list from this tutorial. My question is I see that the list shows "deep silver" but under the list of additives I just see "silver" would that be okay or is there somewhere else I should look for deep silver? Thank you
After I sand Formica, I’ll put a Bonding primer first to ensure I have good adhesion. I like XIM bonding primer. I’ll do two coats, let dry then follow with Behr P&P.
You can tape underneath the bottom of the counter. When done after a few hours pull the tape. Just dont let it dry completely before pulling it off or as the drips become tacky you can take a paint stick and scrape along the bottom ever 30 minutes or so.
Hey there. I would give it a good 4-5 hours to dry. Yes. This finish will need a flood coat. I would actually suggest two clear closets for durability in a high traffic area.
RK3 Designs Thank you so much for responding!! My fiancé and I are wanting basically what the lady did that you made this piece for. Light counters that have some sparkle with very faint gray, like the light veins you made. Our kitchen will have black cabinets so need the counters to brighten it up. The island is about 20 sq ft and then have about 30 sq ft of kitchen counter. Will have the natural gray p&p.

Stonecoat Epoxy zero VOC and very safe to work with. No respirator needed 😊
Rhonda what are you pouring on? MDF? wood?
99% of the time we pour on MDF. 😊
Rhonda, I'm having my beach house built in Belize. I have my stone coat Epoxy & RESIN ready. I love your technique, however you didn't mention you used RESIN in your pour? I'm confused, do I not need resin? Did I miss you saying Resin?
If you have Stonecoat part A&B. You’re good. Part A is the Resin and part B is the hardener.
That looks absolutely beautiful!!! 😍 Can something similar be done for a black countertop finish?
You bet!! I've got several videos on doing black granite/marble. Turns out beautiful!
@RK3Designs how about black leathered quartz look?
I’m ready to order my supplies, thanks to your video. I do have a question, does epoxy yellow over time? Or will it be forever clear?
ALL epoxy will Amber over time no matter what brand. I use Stonecoat Countertop epoxy which has some of the highest UV additives on the market. When doing anything white, I use their Art Coat with the maximum UV protection. Actual yellowing of a countertop is usually caused by the color additives used to tint, and react with the epoxy. The natural Ambering could take years but constant sunlight and certain chemicals can speed the process.
@@RK3Designs how do you apply the art coat? Also what do you recommend cleaning with?
You’ll use a 1/4 in nap roller. I just clean with a gentle non abrasive cleaner that doesn’t have bleach in it.
Great job, what about yellowing?
I've never had an issue with yellowing. I'm also using SCC new white base tint! It's amazing. Also, if your concerned about yellowing, I would use the SCC Art Coat instead of the regular SCC epoxy. It has more UV protection.
I have the regular epoxy already can I begin with that then put on the art coat over the regular as a flood coat? Then finally the ultimate top coat over it all to prevent yellowing?
Hi Rhonda! Is there a quick list of items to order for this White Granite look? Just want to be sure I order the correct items. Thank you so much, this is amazing!!
Hey there. We’re working on getting a link to our resource page on my Website.
Here you go! www.rk3designs.com/tutorial-supplies/white-granite
@@RK3Designs Yay!! Thank you so much!!!

Good to see more subtle effects. My wife would approve.
thank you. Yes, very subtle effects are super popular. Thanks for watching!
Hello. If i dont have access to stone coat epoxy can i do this with regular epoxy resin like MAS table top pro or MAS art pro?
You could achieve a finish similar however I’m not sure about the textured paint in this particular finish.
@@RK3Designs thanks!
Thanks for sharing I can do that God bless
You bet!! Have fun!
Thanks for your response. I google XIM and found out they have several different grades. Is the Advanced UMA the grade you are referring to?
Nice video. Do you have a photo of it completely dry?
Toles Media yes but I can’t post in the comments. Send me your email and I’ll send you a few shots. 😊
@@RK3Designs johntoles@yahoo.com Thank you so much. I have my kit but still have not built up the courage to use it yet.
Just take the plunge!!! You’ll do GREAT!
Yes, I would Love to see the completely dry photos too!
I love this look! I was visiting with ATD during a class. We were talking about what to do with my new kitchen renovation. I’ll try this one on a big piece as you suggested. Thank you!
This is a really fun finish! I think there’s so much you can do with it for sure!! 😊😊
Hi Rhonda. Great video. Do you think the "NEW White tint" is more colorfast than the previous tint?.. It seemed to yellow after a short time.
Louis Louis absolutely. I love this new tint! I’ve had zero problem and the fact you use so little is a game changer!! 😊
which yellowed for you Louis Louis. The new white? i want white counters but I'm nervous about yellowing
Hello, I 'm going to place an order with the list from this tutorial. My question is I see that the list shows "deep silver" but under the list of additives I just see "silver" would that be okay or is there somewhere else I should look for deep silver? Thank you
The silver will work just the same. 😊😊
Hi Rhonda, can this effect be done on wood? thank you
What type of wood? His finish would work on just about any surface as long as it was prepped correctly 😊
Where do you purchase the things you set your sample boards on while working? And what do you call them?
Hi there. Those are called painters pyramids and I get them from Home Depot.
Ur Great work
I am epoxy flooring contractor India Punjab Amritsar
hello beautiful what you do where can i find the materials to do it myself thanks
Check out my website www.rk3designs.com/
Do you use the Behr paint and primer over Formica, after you sand it?
After I sand Formica, I’ll put a Bonding primer first to ensure I have good adhesion. I like XIM bonding primer. I’ll do two coats, let dry then follow with Behr P&P.
How you finish the drips in the back. I assume the bottom of the edge Is unfinished as well?
You can tape underneath the bottom of the counter. When done after a few hours pull the tape. Just dont let it dry completely before pulling it off or as the drips become tacky you can take a paint stick and scrape along the bottom ever 30 minutes or so.
Love this! It’s exactly what I’m looking for. How long did this take to cure and does it need a top coat?
Hey there. I would give it a good 4-5 hours to dry. Yes. This finish will need a flood coat. I would actually suggest two clear closets for durability in a high traffic area.
RK3 Designs and for 76 square feet of counter space how much of the epoxy, mica powders, base coat and clear coat would I need?
How many drops of the white tint would you use for about a 20 sq ft island top? Thanks!!
Depends on how opaque you’re wanting it. You could use up to 1/4 of the little bottle. 😊
So Stone Coat doesn't sell the white tint anymore, how many ?ounces of a bright white would you use with the epoxy?
