- Fallout 4- The Legend of University Point- A university, the people that now live there, and the secret that got them all killed. This and more in this episode of Fallout 4- Legends of
University Point:
It was once a university, but is now settlement. Or at least it was until the institute showed up and killed everyone.They were looking for pre war data on an energy research. Data that a girl called Jacqueline Spencer uncovered, or at least partially, and they wanted it. This video will show how people like Perry and Peter Owens turned the town against her and her father Gerald. It will also look at the story of the pre-war students that were involved in the research, as well as the feud between the Dean Alan Patterson, and Stuart Campbell, one of the professors. I also show you how to get the Prototype UP77 Limitless Potential.

Depends if they knew the data was on an electronic device rather than written down. Killing everyone leaves the cleanup crew free to find the device, pick it up, and take it back to the institute

Yeah, and if they'd had that tech, like The Institute thought, there'd be way more terminated synths about. Common sense apparently doesn't figure into their mission planning.

I can only assume the trader could have bee Trashcan Carla since it has been known she passes information onto the Institute. Heck even if it wasn't her directly to begin with she still would have picked it up at the trading hubs.

I don't know why, I always thought University Point's story is pretty sad. While it isn't the most depressing story in the Commonwealth, I personally feel it's up there.

In the razorgrain field the synths will be lying down and hiding. They scared the shit out of me when they popped upright next to me.

Do wonder who making decisions on the institute side there, my money is on Kellogg.
Father MO would be more to replace someone with a synth to get the data and seeing as smart she is even try to recruit the girl, most likely getting her ran out of town so she wouldn't have anywhere else to go.
Lone Wolf Not really one for the direct approach, I mean he let his parent out to his revenge on Kellogg.
I was more under the impression that Father key the Sole Survivor out to see if he cared and see what his father/mother was like.
Should probably read those in order by date. The contract was the one the Dean signed at the beginning to get the Professor to start working at the University; it gave the Professor Tenure at once and put him in charge of his own department. This got the University a fair amount of grant money and access to other contacts the Professor knows. The Professor, as allowed by the contract the Dean already agreed to, got a grant for his new department to work on a Classified project for the military; the contract lets this all happen without the Deans knowledge. The military built a lab underground for said project and set up who was authorized to know/be involved with the project. The Dean, being a loon, was denied access to or knowledge of the project. And all this was allowed by the employment contract the Dean signed. Heck, the Dean was warned by his/the schools lawyers that this exact thing would happen, the implementation of secret grant projects the Dean won't know about, before he agreed to the contract.
Basically the Dean is a crazy person who feels personally slighted that the Professor would have the nerve to actually follow the terms of the contract. The contract is probably what enables the University to even be considered for classified military research grants. They'll bring loads more funds and expensive equipment for the University's use, plus the knowledge gained from the research can be used in other projects not involved with the military. That Colonel isn't a close personal friend of the Professor, instead he's the military liaison ultimately in charge of the project. And clearly no sane person would let the Dean in on any Classified project, ever.
This just goes to show that the Institute has literally zero social skills as an organization. If they had just asked for it politely or offered a reward. They'd have what they were looking for. Just waiting a few more days might've helped.

The traders who passed on the info to the institute could be the ones out of bunker hill who are informants for the institute (according to a institute terminal anyway) Thats been my guess anyway.

So this might be a slight spoiler for some people but it's relevant to the story behind the towns destruction; the caravan traders are all informants for the institute so that's what brought Kellogg into their town, if Jacqueline hadn't hadn't said anything about it to the merchant the town would have been spared and stayed off the institutes radar.
I know she couldn't have known and that's the worst part about it, she was caught up in a bad situation all over trying to sell it to survive. Some things in the commonwealth are dangerous to know; pre war research about improving weaponry being one of them. Still makes you think what would have happened if the town hadn't panicked and stalled her from finding the information she needed?
Shaun can be blamed for a lot of stuff happening since he became director, but at the same time so can Kellogg. Think about it maybe Shaun just wanted the girl to hand over the information and come work with them since she had a gifted intellect. But Kellogg being the shoot first talk later kinda guy he got impatient and killed them all.
See I disagree on that to a certain point; Remember that there was a mission for the institute where we had to convince someone in the commonwealth to join them but by the time we arrived the minutemen were there thinking it was an abduction? So I think Shaun; in his later years as director made exceptions to people with an advanced intellect knowing it will benefit mankind. Dr Li for another example She left the capital wasteland and went in search of the institute and we find her alive and well inside the institute 10 years after her travels as the Sole Survivor. But I do agree that Kellogg was their best at getting his hands dirty for the institute.
I find that ironic; they care about themselves yet they preach about re defining mankind. But I can totally see your point as well; they have done a lot of sketchy stuff they needed to answer for however we'll never really get them because Shaun dies regardless of the ending you take and killed Kellogg.
That is a really good idea and such a massive shame we can't actually do that in the game. I really hope someone makes a mod that enables you to do that once you're the director.
I'm pretty sure that the Institute never leaves people alone.
Hey I want to say I love this series a lot like this is all I watch on TH-cam now and please keep making more videos but also idk if this would be possible but I think you should do a bioshock series like this cause I love both of these games a lot and I think you could explain the story of the places in bioshock really well for people who didn't exactly get what was going on there or the lore or whatever Idk but I love your videos and that was just a suggestion thanks for your time

I believe that the Institute was seeking the research because it was seemingly related to limitless energy, just like the cold fusion Beryllium Agitator.
They thought that if they could acquire the research they would be able to power their reactor ahead of schedule.

I always wondered why this place was attacked. I had assumed it was due to the settlement forming a solid government body.
