Great video. I'm investigating big cats as part of the Scottish Big Cat Research Team. Paw prints can be tricky sometimes. I've been caught out myself.
Thanks for watching. Yes, I was careful not to over-commit on the paw prints, haha. Would be pleased to hear about your investigation. I have not even moved onto black leopards yet. Please feel free to share the videos. I have another one where I filmed a puma on my phone (not the clearest but it was a puma). All the best
Good insightful video thanks. I’m enjoying researching big cats in the UK. I always do wonder why no one has caught a more definitive picture on a trail cam? Surely someone would have got lucky
Thanks for watching and commenting. There was something years ago of a puma walking in between the crops caught on a farmhouse home security system. I can’t find it now unfortunately.. I think it is many reasons why people have not done it yet: 1. Not a huge population of cats compared to Africa/America 2. People put trail cameras up in garden as don’t own big farms like in America 3. Not as much hunting of wildlife as in America, so not popular pastime 4. Big cats here seem to be using dog walking paths and railway/motorway embankments where people don’t want to put cameras up 5. Lack of knowledge to recognise signs of where to put them up, eg scrape sites 6. A big cat might only visit each area once a year and people like me get busy at work or lose interest Etc etc Hopefully you get the idea 😀 Have a nice weekend and thanks for the comment
Happy New Year Edgar! 🎉 Thanks for watching. Did you have any sightings? I really hope we can start getting footage and learning more about these big cats in the new year. All the best for 2024
@@tapetum.lucidum no I don't even leave in the UK I'm in America where Florida Panthers thrive anyways no it's been official that most of the sightings are leopard and mountain hybrids pumapards a dwarf hybrid smaller to the size of a big lynx are spotted
Good to have some viewers in the US. We are in a similar position to Florida was 50 years ago, waiting for them to be acknowledged here. The one I saw was not dwarf! I think they are from Central American countries, so similar in size to the Florida panther. I have seen a black leopard close-up and heard their calls too. There are lots of black leopard/jaguar sightings in the Southern states too. Thanks for commenting 😀
Thanks for watching! Personally I think it is a Puma but we never know. I don’t think anyone really knows what it is the countryside. Have a nice evening👍🏻
We know these cats were kept as pets until outlawed in the 1970's. They could easily have survived and even bred in the countryside with no natural competitors. I believe they are out there still.
Agreed - and I reckon there have been others released since. The black cats we are seeing are from the most trafficked areas in Asia. Just a case of tracking them now! 😁
Thanks for watching and commenting. I am hoping that I will find another one and be able to get it properly tested. I have a camera trap pointing out at that area now, so can see if dogs are messing there and hopefully will get video of a big cat walking into the opening 🤞😻
Yes, aware of this! This guy talks about the difference in this video: th-cam.com/video/DF0Tms4-y-k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=hvHyfq6lSzf6yLj8 Cat scrapes are much more controlled and much larger
As a child brought up watching Walt Disney movies then god help anyone who comes into contact with one. Has your DNA proof been returned to you yet too establish what type of cat it is… that was a big paw print has any professionals analysed that.
Hi Tina, thanks for watching. No, they said the dna was too degraded to produce any matches. This is most likely from me cooling it down too quickly by putting it in the fridge. You live and learn! I keep trying to send my videos to experts for them to comment but don’t get any reply. To be honest, everything I see points to puma/cougar, so it is just a case of collecting the best set of evidence now. They only seem to come round once a year, so just lying in wait.. Will make another video when I have something worth watching 👍🏻
Male dogs will scrape and scent but they use all four legs to do it so i doubt its from a dog, the paw prints are a bit sus tho? Keep up with the search pal.! Subbed ✊🏻✌🏻🫶🏻
Thanks Curlee for watching and your support 😀👍🏻 Yes, trying to piece it all together and hopefully humble enough to say if I make a mistake along the way 🙈
Thanks for watching. I take it you are not a believer? Sorry I didn’t get a close up of my recent sighting, as it would have been the best but always being to sceptical/passive myself. Can I ask what would cause you to believe there are big cats breeding in the U.K.?
Them paws prints are dogs you can see the claws marks. Thats not been negative because there is nothing more i would like than concrete proof of bigs cats. Still enjoyed your content though
Thanks for watching and commenting. I looked on this website and apparently mountain lions use their claws on slippy or muddy ground but the marks are much sharper than with dogs: mountainlion.org/2010/01/01/sign-evidence-of-a-lions-presence/ I have found some more from a female/smaller male recently and these have “direct register” and claw marks, with the rear paw print over the front one and a smaller size. Unfortunately can’t attach the photo here.
Great finds, very good evidence of big cats keep up the great work atb Lee

Bone in faeces will feel gritty like gravel, if very fine gritty - I would expect more likely to be bone meal from a raw fed dog. If it helps.
