It's sad and worrying to see that AOSP is getting less and less of these features. More and more, these new "Android features" are "Pixel" features. I don't care about AI features, I don't, if I get a phone with them, the first thing I'll do is immediatly turn off as much of that stuff off. Once you take all of the AI and Pixel exclusive stuff off of the table, what's left? Not much. It's a basic release, with very few things added to Android and/or AOSP as a whole. As was Android 14. As was Android 13.

I think it's just a sign how mature Android is now. I honestly can't think any major missing feature on it. And I am totally with you on "AI", I will disable that feature as soon as it will start infecting my phone. Luckily my phone shouldn't get Android 15 update, so I think I will be fine.

Google hasn't done anything special for years. Except Material UI & Introducing some privacy settings in installments.
Android OS still lacks some basic features & improvements.
    e.g
    1) It doesn't need hardware resources like Desktop PC but OS Optimisation.
    2) We have to install third party Apps or plugins for basic tasks e.g. Backing up & restoring all data in new Phone, view Real Time Network Speed, Shortcuts etc. There are some stocks app (like media player) they are not very useful even lacks basic features & settings.
    3) We can't restrict third party apps to using network. This makes Privacy Permissions powerless.

The most basic feature color saturation and color correction are still not on android. So if you get a bad amoled screen with no vibrance your out of luck in countries that don't allow replacements. Or you root and loose warranty. No gaming features, built in controller mapping, no streamer mode to stream with your front cam on. No video input requirements so you basically dump your old tablet after a year or 2 and have no use for it unless you use a latency riddled capture card to use it as a monitor. Its not a big deal its the same deal.

AI is useless so really no difference. I'm more excited for what hardware manufacturers do. For example remains to be seen but the Xperia 1 VI might have just dethroned the 15 Pro Max as having the best battery life. Or if it didn't, it's very close. I'm super pumped about that because most of what stops me from using my phone for photography other than photo quality (which the Xperia fixes, DUH) is battery life and the fact I can't just swap in a new one. If the phone genuinely has 10 hours screen on time with heavy usage then I'm saved. I care about battery swapping right up to the point where it lasts all day no matter what I do/takes literally half an hour to charge. Batteries are easy enough to replace. Just not so easy to wait 2 hours for them to charge in the case of my phone.

Fixing the UI/UX can't be harder than creating an AI. personally i don't wanna switch to iOS but there are always small glitches or bugs and lags with android phones which is annoying. And how hard is it to fix that ugly and unnecessary navigation bar.

Android 15, like Android 14, is a big piece of garbage, because it seems that the most capable programmers have been transferred to AI, while the worst quality of Android development remains! I have a google pixel 7 pro and when I switched from Android 13 to Android 14 and then to Android 15 beta, calls still drop. So what is the basis and what is called a telephone, you cannot talk normally! There are thousands of posts on google support forums about this problem from Australia to Africa to Canada and they can't solve this problem! At least give part of the code around the call to be copied from Android 13!

99% of the things that are marketed as AI are not really AI, but they are still components of it.
ML is not AI, OCR and OMR are not, and the list goes on...
But since they are techniques used for it, and are really the anablers of it, they are AI too.
Marketing is and always will be for average customer, and average customer sees all of those terms as balck magic, heck even us (devs and IT people) see them as black magic too.
