    The simplest pleasures of motorcycles are not always experienced on balls out hyperbikes. Having a motorcycle that's easy to live with, useful daily and fits the budget is my choice. The Triumph is gorgeous and powerful enough to make me happy 😁😁😁

    I bought my first bike from Dave in 1973, a Honda SL 125 which I traded with him for a Honda CB500. Happy days, happy memories. I am so pleased to hear the place is still going.

    I just bought the first one in the Philippines. Still to take delivery. My first ride on a bike was a Triumph 21 (350cc twin) in 1957 when I was 11 years old. I just sold my 900 cc Bonnie because I felt it was getting too heavy for me.

    Good review. Fantastic looking bike at an excellent price. Being a bit taller I'm going to get a test ride on the Scrambler 400 but great Triumph give us a choice of the two models.

    • @pintsizedbiker
      @pintsizedbiker  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes that’s a good move on their part. I would rather there wasn’t a jump in cost but I guess the extra bits add to the overall cost. The scrambler had flatter pegs I noticed.

      @@pintsizedbiker seems it may be down to the software level of the ECU, some complain of a light throttle surge and others haven't noticed anything. Mine has it along with a flat spot on full throttle in 6th. FuelX sorted it but then I fitted a DNA air filter and we're back to square one so definitely to do with lean air fuel ratio. 85 mpg is a giveaway as well..

    I've been riding for over 50 years. At the moment I'm riding a Yamaha FZ 6 with 98ps. Now I live in Germany but I avoid the autobahn like the plague. Prefer mountain and country roads, this bike could tempt me.

    • @pintsizedbiker
      @pintsizedbiker  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It could be perfect for that. I’d also consider the T100 too, that extra poke for hills maybe?

      in the „black forest“ (south germany) i ride a new T120 and a Vespa GTS 300 with 24 PS. absolutely no problem with the GTS at 1,80 m and 100 kg to climb with 70-80 km/h.
      400 ccm and 40 PS should be enough for the german mountains.

    Good work ! I'm thinking of buying one. I'm getting on in life at 60 ! had R1 fireblades bmw gs suzuki gsx1400 and enjoyed them all. Time to accept its time to tone it down ! This could be bike for me ! Only 5'7 and it was never a problem until the last few years when I lost confidence and wanted 2 feet on the ground ! So anything with 810mm or les is appealing ! No cruisers though ! Great work I'm subscribed

    The only negative point i could find about the Speed 400 was the levers are not span adjustable. As for low speed jerkyness, the one i test rode from Destination Triumph in Christchurch (Dorset not New Zealand 😂😂), was super smooth. Yes there was a slight amount of buziyness, but certainly not very noticeable, and while riding around Christchurch at 30mph in 5th gear, she just pulled smoothly and easily.
    A really great review, thanks for posting it.

Talking of smaller engine capacity, Triumph would make an absolute killing in the 125 category. As a Triumph owners club member I applaud Triumph making a medium sized machine, right decision. But I also own a Royal Enfield Interceptor and can't help thinking the Enfield is a much classier bike. My opinion only but Triumph have not quite got it. That said it looks okay, but would be better with polished engine casings, proper traditional rev counter and speedo set up. like I said,just my first thoughts. Triumph designed it using Bajaj’s data for the KTM engines, the reason they have the same bore and stroke figures. The torque and power delivery is very Triumph like so they set that character as well.
      Bajaj on top provided insights to reduce vibrations and helped with manufacturing at scale to reduce costs.

    Hello again, thanks for replying to my earlier comment. I have another question. After 13 years since selling my last bike, a Yamaha FZS1000 (I was in love with that bike!), I have been craving to get riding again. I have been eyeing the Triumph Speed 400 since first hearing about it, it makes sense financially, both in purchase price and running costs, and the small capacity looks like a great deal of fun. However, I have heard plenty of people mention problems with the Speed 400 (hardware, software, immobilisers, not starting, display issues etc). It is putting me off purchasing one. Do you, or any of your viewers, know what proportion of owners are having issues... is it a a minority or a majority? Also, are Triumph dealerships getting the issues fixed on sold bikes, and is Triumph now getting them fixed at production? I hope that someone is able to enlighten me. Thanks.

    Good viewing pleasure. I like the idea of this motorcycle but I'm wondering about the realities riding it in a larger country like Canada. Somebody in the comments mentioned riding 5th gear at 30mph no problem. Would the engine be able to handle a final drive gearing change so that on the highway in 6th gear it wouldn't be beating it's little heart out? I don't really care about losing acceleration. I just don't like a screaming engine on cruise.

    • @pintsizedbiker
      @pintsizedbiker  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    no doubt about it triumph knocked out of the park, I'd like to have seen the scambler more off-road with an upswept exhaust and bash plate and a few weeks, both are available in India as aftermarket parts, plus I do like twin shocks but that's just my person choice for easy servicing and replacement of units, one criticism I do have is the top line, bottom of the tank and seat looks like the bike had been crumpled in a head-on impact, lowering the clearance at the rear wheel would have made that a straight line, perhaps someone will make a new bolt-on subframe giving more seat options, the rear end is high for no reason,

    • @pintsizedbiker
      @pintsizedbiker  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

When you get the revs up around 11k it hit a power band and zooms. Around to it is very nice and easy. You can kick it up in neutral from first at a stop with out it going up into second. Great for taking a break in traffic at a light. It is a little heavier the the Ninja 400 but that helps on the interstate. The sound is addictive. @@pintsizedbiker
