Triumph Bonneville Upgrades Mods Review
Picking up a T100 in a week and I’m 5’4”, after watching this I’m more confident in my decision
Great review!! Nice to see some footage of them actually being worn and not just unboxed. Did you ever find a pair of jeans that work for you?
@@joe2001mini thank you. Yes I did, I went with motogirl Melissa jeans. Annoying they don’t have a zip but they fit really well
Nice, I was looking at women's gloves the other day as apparently I have short fingers 2! 😂
@ I know that pain! I’ve worn women’s gloves in the past, but my current ones are Goldtop Cafe racer. They fit well. But many other Goldtop gloves were too long in the finger
The Triumph 400 is 10mm higher. But, to me both felt the same. Am on tippy tip toes, on both. So for me, would require a lowered link.😊
Much better and appealing that the Triumph 400.
@@hughphillips1427 hopefully will try one soon to see what it is really like. The colours remind me of the 90s
Thanks for video
Love the T100. I've had one for a year now. Great machine.
Vibrator
I’m a complete novice at riding motorcycles, but the bike is just fine on it’s side stand on a sea ferry? Anyway, thanks for a relaxing ride and now I want a Bonneville.
@@mennoafink1351 heya, I thought that at first but it’s totally fine. I’ve done countless times and had no issues. The ferry doesn’t move that much really so all good Thank you for watching that is really kind and appreciated
ECU needs reprogramming. New bikes come with this fix already.
It seems like you're the only one who has reviewed these boots so far. I'm considering them despite the premium price because they look incredibly stylish. Do you think they're durable enough for everyday wear? Are they waterproof? Have you had a chance to wear them in the rain or snow? I'd really appreciate any insights you can share about their performance in those conditions.
Hi, thank you for watching. I am on my 2nd pair. The first pair I did wear everyday about for about 10 years, admittedly rarely in snow but constantly in the rain. I wouldn’t say they are waterproof but at the same time are more than up to the job. After a ride in considerable rain they do need to dry naturally. I would often let them get utterly filthy and then a good polish would return them to almost like new. Goldtop do a range of similar boots now so they are worth a look if you are anywhere near their shop. But I would still choose these given the option.
I won’t be using these in snow, but it does rain quite a bit where I live. I considered the Goldtop boots, which are similar, but I think the design on these looks better. I wish I could visit a store to decide in person, but I’m in the US. If these boots can last me 10 years, I’ll be more than satisfied!
@ I think you will be happy with them. They feel stiff at first but they supple up very quick. The style of these are above the Goldtop. Mine are road racer, my Dad wore the racing boot which don’t have the padding at front but are a bit more loose. Road racer is a bit more 70s
I asked LL about the difference between the 177 and 178. They said both are excellent, but they personally prefer the ones like yours because of the padding. I’m still undecided, though. I wish there were more reviews on them, similar to the ones for Rev’it, Rokker, and Stylmartin. I just want to be sure they’ll age well and won’t fall apart over time!
@ the only thing that wears quickly-ish is the sole padding. My first set I got redone with a commando style sole that then lasted forever
Lets be honest this bike is not a BSA Gold Star, it is a cheap, crappy, third world produced bucket of cachu. This pathetic replica must really suit the cheapskate wallets, anyone with any sense (especially those ageing nostalgia seeking wanabee's) should save a bit more of their pension and buy a "proper" bike. Maybe an easy first purchase, but don't kid yourselves, you will try hard to convince yourself you have a nice "new bike", bit your joy will soon become dulled when you try to part ex. even for another BSA or Royal Enfield replica, used prices of these pathetic counterfiets are falling like lead balloons in a bucket of water. The "assemblers" (for they are not makers) of these jokes can't even give it a proper tank badge.............
So what do you ride that is so much better?
Yea get an "original" and spend 360 days in a garage (waiting for parts) and 5 days on the road. I meanwhile will spend 5 days in a garage and 360 riding.
Yeah, ride , enjoy, don't put down good bikes. I've got an Enfield 350 and a Gold star, both beautiful reliable bikes😊
Long stroke or short stroke?
Short stroke.
Hello again, thanks for replying to my earlier comment. I have another question. After 13 years since selling my last bike, a Yamaha FZS1000 (I was in love with that bike!), I have been craving to get riding again. I have been eyeing the Triumph Speed 400 since first hearing about it, it makes sense financially, both in purchase price and running costs, and the small capacity looks like a great deal of fun. However, I have heard plenty of people mention problems with the Speed 400 (hardware, software, immobilisers, not starting, display issues etc). It is putting me off purchasing one. Do you, or any of your viewers, know what proportion of owners are having issues... is it a a minority or a majority? Also, are Triumph dealerships getting the issues fixed on sold bikes, and is Triumph now getting them fixed at production? I hope that someone is able to enlighten me. Thanks.
For every person reportin anproblem, you can be sure there's at least 50 people without a problem not reporting. And often those reporting a problem get their problem resolved promptly but never report back. Motorcycles are man made machines...they will have some problems from time to time.
@@molonlabe9602 Thank you, I appreciate your take on it.
Thanks for the review. How was the Speed 400 on steep hills, for example through Ventnor?
Thank you for watching. Sadly I didn’t get that far. Only had a couple of hours with it. But I can’t see it being a big issue. It was a nice small single 🙂
Bhai aap chala lete ho ye bike
The music is too loud
What a beauty...
I bought a 350cc Meteor in june and didnt have a problem with the forward position of the rear brake or the toe and heal gear change , just took to it like a duck to water , i think there a great little bike , more smiles per mile 😀 as they say , whats not to like 😀
Cool bike....
What country is this? It’s so beautiful.
@@功德1 England, on the Isle of Wight
Would be great to see Norton do well but this bike has too many issues and it is far too expensive, really a shame
SV650 ..pegs are to high and seat postition makes it uncomfortable
When you mention this bike is "jerky", do you mean that it can put off new riders, like in the throttle response in first and second gear? As in unforgiving? Or a different kind of jerkyness? And can a new rider just out of MSF be okay on this as opposed to tamer RE Hunter 350 for example?
I just bought one of these. The seat height is a small issue for me. Any suggestions other than to low seat how to gain an inch or two?
Not supposed to stall like this. Did you fix it?
Picked up my bike new just over a week ago, it stalled when I slowed down approaching a tight corner on a rural road, had the clutch in coasting for a few feet then was going to accelerate gently around the corner, but the bike had other ideas and cut out just like yours did in the video. I got my bike from a dealer who has just taken on BSA's, and they have been pretty good with me previously. Mentioned it to them and they said to see if it happens again. Will see if they can updated the software on the first service. The only other issue is it failed to fire up when starting from cold once (just starter motor turning the engine, did wait for the lights to go as usual before trying to start), switched all off and on again and started fine. Teething issues I guess...
Lovely bike , I have the halcyon green . I do however disagree with you on long distance, this bike is brilliant at long distance, yes your not going to go as fast and motorways aren’t it’s strong point but who wants to go on a motorway any how . I’m just running mine in but I will be going wales , Yorkshire, Scotland 500 and even Europe and Isle of Man . The big advantage is the fuel efficiency, its comfortable seat and great extras like luggage. I’ve just fitted one of those free flowing air filters from Hiscox .
wow!
I reviewed the Goldstar a few months ago, and I experienced one stall during my ~45 minute test ride, though no other issues at multiple stops, junctions and slow manoeuvres, and like you I really enjoyed the bike beyond that. The reason I'm commenting though is someone replied to my video about a month ago to say that BSA have released a software update which solves the stalling issue. I don't have any specifics beyond that unfortunately, and a quick google doesn't show up any articles which is odd because you'd think there'd be a blog post or something for it, but I wanted to raise it anyway. If true, that should be the worst annoyance the bike has on launch sorted. Hopefully it is as simple as that, and the owners are able to enjoy the bike safely going forward.
@@TheSpectre223 yes I had heard that too. Hopefully that has resolved the issue. Certainly a few things that could be better but overall it was a blast to ride and good price.
SORBOTHANE
Thanks for the long-term review. I just bought my 1st Bonnie today, and is the exact model/year as yours. Am so stoked!!! Such a classy machine, with a lot of safety comforts. Can't wait to start putting miles on it and creating memories.....
I don’t think you will be disappointed! Any upgrade plans?
@@pintsizedbiker Thanks! My 1st mod is adding a chrome dress bar kit to protect in case of a fall/tip over. It already has heated grips, moderate windshield, saddle bag rails and a center stand. Any recommendations??
@@jimmyc5050 good idea, I need to do that to mine too. I had dresser bars on my 09 but the new ones don’t look as good but I will regret it one day All sound like good mods to start with. Ride it as it is and then see what you want to change 😊
Dangerous situation these stalling problems. Hope you get them fix for good.
Great looking bike but for that amount of money i would want a lot more bhp.......My old GS 1000 had more horses on it and even then, felt a bit underpowered for long motorway rides when away at weekends etc.....
In my mind, I see this as a contemporary cafe racer. I love mine, but I've only done 76mi/122km so far.
The seat sucks and the music f**ks 😅

Great real life review. Just found your channel and subsctibed,
@@mrlbrown7924 thank you! I really appreciate that, I will try to get some more reviews soon. Sadly time makes it tricky, any bikes you would like to see?
Really keen on this bike. Looks fantastic
@@bsimpson4076 certainly worth a test ride 😊
I like the Goldstar but this puts me off.
I am liking this bike
Not sure if this applies to BSA Goldstar but BSA shares parts with Jawa. I own a Jawa and that stalls at lower rpms too. I generally keep revving the bike lightly to 2-3k rpm and that prevents it from stalling. I know thats not a solution but that's what I tackled the problem after clocking 20k kilometres.
Slowing down while revv matching also helps. This beauty of an engine just hates going to the bottom revvs.
Do you use low Octane or high Octane fuel for that 75-79 MPG. The emblem on the gas tank has always been plastic which i feel they should have changed to metal 6 years ago other makes have the painted logo on the tank which doesn't reduce the price of the bike but it is there and i prefer that better you pay for what you get.
@@juans3728 I use shell V power which I think is 99. But I did use 95 previously but it wasn’t as smooth. I never been too bothered about the logo. Can probably replace it pretty easily with an original.
@@pintsizedbiker TY for your reply.
Which one is better REInterceptor650 or this BSAGoldstar.
@@devk90 I do a review on my channel that covers that question but I would go for the RE on reflection. Both great to ride, perhaps the BSA a little more fun. As an outside shout look at RE GT535 from a few years ago
I think you are new biker to review on BSA Goldstar.
@@Lipikaara huh? I’ve been riding 20 years and owned a Norton commando for 5. If you have to be 80 to ride this bike their sales won’t get far 😂

I will see what I can do! Don’t have much time to make these sadly
@@pintsizedbiker you’re an excellent reviewer and we are of the same height . So I a m bit confused still whether to go for the speed 400 or the scrambler 400x
@@josephfernandes9039 that is very kind of you to say! That made my day. I would choose the speed 400, but it depends if you are expecting to do any off roading with it?
