    Once again, best filming, video and sound editing I have ever seen for PCT videos! Also, excellent narrations! Finally, probably the best, most effective segmenting of the trip, i.e. Desert, Sierra, etc. Cudos and thank you for this wonderful entertainment!!!

    I feel so blessed to grow up an hour from the range of light. I’ve spent about 30 years exploring all over. For those who haven’t been, I highly suggest spending at least a few days up in these mountains. It’ll change your life

    I hiked the PCT in 21 and 22 and hated those moments when someone flew a drone in the wilderness. But, God damn! those views which allow me to see the trail from the perspective of the birds. I am softening to the idea of drones on trail.

      Thank you for your comments. We never fly it when others are around, always keep line of sight and abide by the rules in the description. Thanks for watching and congrats on your own hikes!

    Great to see you again. We had it so easy last year compared to what hikers are facing this year. My wife and I have started training to hike the Washington section in August. Take care, Pa'at

    Things that I don't like about hiking in the Sierra:
    1) Mosquitos
    2) Carrying 7 days of food in a bear can

    FYI - you never play dead when a black bear attacks. That advice is for brown bears. If you do that with a black bear, it will eat you.

      Thanks for the correction

    • @theawkwardflightattendant
      @theawkwardflightattendant 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep! No brown bears in California. Some of the black bears are "brown", but they're not grizzlies (sometimes known as brown bears)

    • @johnprisk
      @johnprisk 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @theawkwardflightattendant - I hope I dont sound too pedantic, but "sometimes know as brown bears" is inaccurate. It implies that brown bears are a subspecies of grizzlies, when in fact it is the other way around. All grizzlies are brown bears, but not all brown bears are grizzlies.
      "Grizzly" (a reference to the look of their fur) refers to the smaller non-costal brown bears that live in more central states and Canadien territories.

      @@Wanderlonger not sure if you can ever time it perfectly right? But I’d say the creek crossings and snow fields would be what scare me the most. Good thing I’m not going this year. Thanks for replying! I’m hopeful to do it next year!

    Great description and depiction of the sierras in a somewhat normal summer.
    This 2-23 PCT hiking season is not anywhere near normal. Watch out this 2023 sierras are not what you are seeing in
    this video. There is snow, snow, and more snow. It is ice in the morning turning to slush and mush by the afternoon.
    2023 is different with lots and lots of snow. Much of the snow will be on the north faces and shadows into the fall.
    This spring and summer backpacker will have to carry ice axes, crampons, with extra insulation between the ground snow and
    their ground cloth, tent, sleeping pad, and sleeping bag.
    Backpacking and camping on the snow is a very different situation. If you keep warm enough the snow below you begins to melt
    and travel as water up following the heat. Once your sleeping pad and sleeping bag are wet they are very hard to dry.
    I am not a snow backpacker. I am a fair weather backpacker expecting maybe a thunderstorm with everything dry on the ground
    within 30 minutes because of the very dry air.
    The days are in the 60s and 70s above 10,000 feet elevation with night below 32 degrees even in July and August. We were up near Mosquito flats over Mono pass (12,000 ft) for about 6 days and 5 night at the end of July in about 2002. Every night was in the low 20s farenheit. The water stored outdoors froze every night, it was a rare very cold few nights.
    After those very cold nights the nightime temps were suddenly at just about 32, more normal for that time of year. I always carry enough clothing, if it gets very cold I put on my warm pants, sweat shirt, polar fleece, rain shell, wool hat, wool sox, gloves all inside
    my sleeping bag for the night.
    The sierras are spectacular. I try to go onto sections of the JMT (john muir trail) once a year or more in a more normal snow
    year. It it wonderful to be above 9,000 or 10,000 feet for days traveling to passes over 13,000 feet. The warm days and cold nights
    that are very dry with lots of sun are wonderful.
    There is a very good reason John Muir hiked and wrote about the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

    Your videography is really good but, just in my personal opinion, most of the music really detracted from the overall mood of the video. It also made your significant other virtually impossible to understand. People who hike do so to experience the peace and quiet of nature. People who watch hiking videos do so for the same reason.

    Not only is it illegal to fly a drone in a wilderness area, but posting such illegal drone footage only encourages others to do the same...Flying in the Ansel Adams Wilderness Area over Thousand Island Lake is Illegal and you could be subject to a $5000 fine and up to six months in jail for just this one infraction....the FAA is cracking down on violators posting illegal drone content...The United States wilderness areas, characterized by their pristine beauty and untouched landscapes, suffer detrimental impacts when ethical laws, like the prohibition of motorized vehicles, are disregarded, leading to environmental degradation and disruption of delicate ecosystems...I highly suggest removing re-editing and reposting an ethical version...
