The front fascia change on the Explorer 2025 and new tail lights upgrades the vehicle nicely. The greatest surprise and delight change comes in the new Ford Digital Experience MMI ( goggle based media engine) that replaces the previous SYNC systems. This new interface allows for the navigation feature to be displayed/overlayed into the 12.3 inch productivity screen instrument cluster thus freeing up the center stack screen to display additional multi media functions. It’s a welcome surprise and change. Customers should be pleased.
Another great review, Joe! The base trim level Explorer is very clean looking inside and out, the combination of the silver paint with the gray wheels is very cool looking!
I feel a high level of quality that I don't expect from an entry-level trim. The face design doesn't overemphasize the car's strength and expresses the sincereness, and I really like this new Explorer.
The $48k price (almost $50k) might be a bit high for a base trim but it looks nice and has some nice features, probably should have wireless charging and ventilated seats for that price tag. But it really looks nice and no doubt it beats a Nissan Pathfinder.
The true base price is $39K for RWD. The $48K price tag on this one is because it has 4WD and the "comfort package." I have this identical vehicle except in "vapor blue" and I absolutely love it. AMAZING value for the price.
I like how you compared it to the Pathfinder. That's the only Asian Brand Suv that had a re design that can appeal to American buyers. You know your stuff Raiti!!!!!🏆
A great looking SUV.....sharp. Perfect trim for me. USA USA.....thanks for the comedy Joe. PS: I'm OK with the prop rod for the hood as I know one thing for, sure you'll NEVER have to replace hood struts...lol. Cheers !
I like this Active trim - it feels like what early Explorers were before SUV's (as a segment) became pure family cars. The Active trim has a sense of utility - the cheaper plastics and trims make it feel more like a truck, in a good way. Cool car, and kudos to Ford for keeping it RWD.
Joe, seeing this trim has me thinking pretty much because how much it looks like the police version. Have you ever thought thought about reviewing police versions? I think it would be very interesting and fun to do a comparison between the Explorer and Tahoe police spec versions.
I agree. That would have been better. But the way the new screen and controls is set up, it is still easier to use than my wife's 2024 Edge SEL. On her car you spend too much time with your eyes off the road just to change the fan speed. On the new Explorer you can one touch the fan speed up or down a notch.
Great review! I actually just test drove one today and was impressed with the quality of the “base” trim. What’s your thoughts of this particular trim when compared to the 2024 Grand Cherokee?
No doubt about it. The Ford Explorer is thee most Sporty capable Suv out there. I paused the video in the beginning just to gaze at its capability and American appeal aesthetics 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Correct. Mine is a base model. The 18" wheels with traditional light truck tires do ride really well. Folks forget that the sidewalls of the tires are a big part of your suspension! Mine has the bench seat and only 4 drive modes too. Mine stickered at just under $43k.
electric assist for the passenger is impressive, wheels are nice too for a base trim. Wow the active ford explorer has more features than the LT Traverse other than the Traverse having the Super Cruise feature. Yes the horn button has been a zonk for a while, year 2000 vibes. Seats are decent though. Beefy are rests are nice
I have a 2022 Timberline 2.3... For a 4 cylinder it has plenty of power and is smooth as can be. Catch-can installed from day 1….As far as longevity I don’t really care. Might go for the ST next year.
@@FordEnthusiast413 Hyundai/KIA is light years behind Ford's notoriously recalls. Last week Ford just issued 85k Exploder Police Interceptors for engine catching fire. Laugh at that fanboy.
Man, most features are standard in all trims, you don't have to go for the highest one. Noticed how they started doing this with the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus, good to know that they're taking this route as default.
Joe my boy, can you do a review on the 2025 Ford Explorer Police version. The front is going to look the same as the 2020-2024 model and the rear changes.
Disappointed that Ford didn't put the Nautilus hybrid powertrain in this refreshed Explorer. Farley talks hybrid, hybrid, but refreshed Explorer and Bronco Sport get same powertrains.
300 hp and over 300 ftlbs of torque. Torque is what moves you. This mill makes the car feel effortless! My son has the 400 hp ST top of the line. That things just crazy! I'm happy with my Active and it cost over $20k less than his ST.
I prefer the Pathfinder though they’re both great choices, the Pilot and Pallisade/Telluride are fantastic too, but I’d go Pathfinder personally, not a fan of the current Highlander, Traverse, Enclave, or Acadia tbh
I left the CX90 out of this as I feel it slots right in between the mainstream choices (such as the Pathfinder, Pallisade, etc) and the luxury choices (such as the MDX, Aviator, etc) depending on trim level, I left the Grand Highlander out of this discussion too as it’s larger than the rest of the competition, both of those are also great vehicles, I feel the Pathfinder and Palisade/Telluride provide the best value in the segment, but that’s just my opinion
Previously, I was obsessed on finding the best family 3-row crossover based on automotive reviews, but I later realized that it’s hard to gauge it as it would depend on you and your family’s needs and your budget as well. While this Explorer looks good compared to the Pathfinder, the Pathfinder’s feature set fits our needs better plus it’s cheaper. And also, I had a bad experience with Ford products - poor build quality, i.e., loose interior trims, rattles and squeaks, etc.
I just bought one of these two weeks ago as a trade up from my 22 Maverick. I was very impressed! Especially at how much torque that mill puts to the ground thru that reprogrammed 10 speed. Just starting to loosen up with break in. Getting 24 mpg in mixed driving and really enjoying it. MSRP on mine was just under $43k. Mine is a base Active with 4x4 and no other options. I notice yours there has fog lamps and heated wheel and 6 drive modes. Mine has 4 drive modes and no lamps or heated wheel. Mine has the rear bench vice captain chairs too. I think mine is more base than yours there! Still, an awesome vehicle.
Nice looking vehicle with some needed revisions over previous generation. However, $49k for base trim and over $60 for top? That’s a hard sell when you consider Telluride and Palisades two trims can be had for mid $50’s. A little less power but the interior quality and features of those two trumps the Explorer. US mfg are becoming uncompetitive on price.
It has the comfort package doesn’t it ? which gives you 20 inch wheels and more things right? I’m not being a a hole. I’m just saying it’s not a true base model or entry level
Having the hood come up just seems unnecessary to add to that suvs & trucks already have a hard time seejng people especially kids & teens . I like the 2023 front end compared to the new
The idea of spilling my coffee every week on my electric shifting dial bugs me and zonks this off my list. The tack on tablet is tacky too.. Nissan, Chevrolet and Kia doing it alot better at comparable prices.

The power they are able to get out of these 4-cylinders is amazing!
I'm concerned about longevity though.Seems like a small engine for such a large vehicle.
One of my favs from the segment. That 2.3 L is more than enough for daily driving.
The 2.3 is a fantastic engine!
Good engine. Enough to take the family a good reliable ride. Great visibility and good lighting at night.
300 HP is solid.. Still seems like a tiny engine tho😅

Amazing tha a 4 cylinder has that much power, but it just seems like it'd be undersized and wouldn't last as well

They will take that off because it is just a sticker
