I enjoy the winter in L.A. as there are a few folks still at the beach but it is still a beautiful view... the water is still warmer than the Atlantic or Pacific or the Mediterranean during their Summer weather! Plenty to still do even in the "off season" of "winter" which is still quite nice! Spanish Fort has very little to compare with Fairhope... Mobile is a bit run down but has some decent options but is still an hour from the beach. Some more crime and danger but overall pretty slow and sleepy compared to New Orleans madness... Overall it is ALL way safer, cleaner and safer than bigger metro areas like NOLA. Plenty of NOLA folks are flocking to the area to escape the NOLA crime and the biggest Mardi Gras culture outside Louisiana is Mobile. Gulf Shores/Orange Beach also have their Mardi Gras parades and balls so that tradition is growing as more Louisiana people keep moving to the area. So the whole Mobile being the "birthplace" of Mardi Gras is very WRONG as history very clearly shows that Europe was the birthplace of Mardi Gras... Mobile can MAYBE claim to have been the birthplace of how Carnival is NOW celebrated in North America & in New Orleans and Mobile with the Krewes, parades etc. but 100% the birthplace of Carnival goes waaaaay back to Europe! Mobile, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and the rest of the Gulf Coast and everywhere else that does Carnival/Mardi Gras Parades is really tiny, small and amateur compared to the HUGE parades in New Orleans so there really is ZERO comparison to what NOLA parades and Carnival Balls are at compared to everywhere else right now. However LOTS of NOLA folks are leaving to move to L.A. so that might just change fast and the parades and balls might certainly get far bigger and more grand as more folks move to the area....

The bigger any area is the more chance there is for crime and we're definitely a lot smaller than our neighbor. We'll see an increase if people keep growing our small LA area. That's why so many people love it here, because of it's small quaint charm. Mobile is definitely the birthplace in the U.S. lol idk why but I thought that was a given. I do love seeing all the LSU & Saints license plate covers! They have a lot of spirit even though they're not as good as Bama.. Roll Tide 🌊 lol sorry! We really do love catching Saints games but it's a bummer Drew Brees is gone. We loved watching him play. Too bad they couldn't lock in the deal with Tom Brady.. could you imagine Bourbon street in the playoffs then?!

Are there any more rural options outside of town away from noise?

Yes, very much so! We're currently working on a video for that

@livinginloweralabama-yourr3094 we're excited to hear that! We love your channel. Thanks for the videos! We already live in a Alabama north of Birmingham and prefer quiet, private, rural living away from construction, city, planes, trains and automobiles sounds, but close enough to the coastal culture. We are also wondering about any dog friendly beach or waterfront areas. Thanks for all the information you guys can provide 😊

We love rural living too! Fort Morgan is dog friendly and pensacola has dog friendly areas which isn't far from LA.

I live in lower Alabama I wouldn't live in Pensacola it's really run down in my opinion I use the VA clinic there but the area is dangerous

The beaches are nice in Pensacola but I'd L.A. has them beat w just about everything else.
