Tel Aviv is a very diverse city and it's one of the things I like about it. I'm Filipino but I lived in TLV for a year. I loved trying different kinds of food from Jewish diaspora -- Yemeni, Iraqi (sabich!), Iranian (ghormeh sabzi that tastes the same as what you'd have in Iran), Moroccan, Libyan, Bukharan, Ashkenazi American, Ethiopian, Syrian, Kurdish, Venezuelan etc. I didn't realize how diverse the Jewish community is. Palestinian food is also delicious (maqluba, mansaf, knafeh are my faves) as well as food by the local Druze community. There is also a large migrant worker and asylum seeker population so you'd find food from all over the world. Some areas in Tel Aviv Central Bus Station feels like the Philippines.

There are two Circassians towns or you could just call it a village because it's really not that big in Northern Israel. Most Circassians do national military service just like their secular Jewish counterparts, I think many male circassians are employed in Police department (i'm also a policeman and personally know 2 Circassian Policemen who I initially thought were Ashkenazim😅) and although their numbers are small (only about 5K), they're generally well perceived here.

A very nice Police Investigator, with whom I worked on several cases, was soft spoken, super-sharp and a real pleasure to work with. He had the most stereotyped Ashkenazi look to him. Like if you mingle with Israelis of Ashkenazi background, you've seen this guy over and over. So Shavu'ot (Feast of Weeks-Jewish Festival) was approaching. and I asked him (in Hebrew) what his plans were for the holiday. he just laughed with a huge smile and said "Ani lo Yehudi, ani Cherkessi" "I'm not a Jew, I'm Circassian;" Very much like your anecdote. I think the Israeli Circassians laugh and go through that frequently.

There's obv 1 fact missing. One that's important to the history of the State of Israel and the "Europeanness" feeling of Tel Aviv. The fact is that in 1948 the majority of the Palestinian inhibitants of Jaffa (Yafo) and all the surrounding Palestinian villages were expelled, not allowed to return. And that Tel Aviv expanded over said villages, erasing their identity (while preserving Jaffa's but with most of its original inhabitants abroad)

that land belong to israel according to international law.
      1. according to the 1922 British mandate approved by the league of nations, the entire land of israel belong to israel including the west bank the gaza streep and the golan heights. the un charter chapter 12 article 80 states that every league of nations resolution is still relevant and binding thus the land is israel's land.
the 1947 partition plan was nothing but a recommendation for the British government, as the former British secretary of state for the colonies Arthur Creech Jones said it "We are not coming to the UN to hand over the mandate. We are going to the UN, to explain the problems to him and ask him for advice, how to do the mandate workable. If it is not possible to do so as it is now we ask how to fix it". the brits never implemented the partition plan, thus this plan is irrelevant. and the reason they left wasn't to make the plan come true, it was because of the jewish revolt, for evidence here is the official declaration of the British government that they were getting out of israel: "It has been shown that 84,000 soldiers ... were not sufficient to uphold the law and order (in the Land of Israel) in view of the terrorist system run by high-level organized Jewish forces equipped with modern-day infantry weapons. Since the end of World War II, 338 British subjects have been killed in Palestine, while spending all military forces costing British taxpayers £ 100 million... Under these circumstances, His Majesty's Government decided to end the mandate entrusted to it and prepare to evacuate all British forces from Palestine as soon as possible " - (Palestine: Termination of the mandate London. 15th May 1948).
even after the establishment of israel and the end of the independence war, the un asked our ambassador at the time aba even if we still want to implement the plan, and we said *no!*.
so when the UN is saying that the settlements are illegal, their contradicting themselves, their own resolutions are illegal according to them. the UN are hypocrites, and a smell of anti-Semitism rises from them.
      2. the "palestinians" are not the natives. the land was almost completely empty up until 1881, when the first zionist immigrants arrived.
untill 1881 the population where today israel is was no more then 150k for hundreds of years.
when the first zionist immigrants arrived they started to farm the land and provide jobs and security, so arab immigration started, this had continued when more immigrants came zionist and arabs. when the brits captured the land they started developing it and provide more professional security, the brits didn't put any restrictions on arab immigration, and gave any arab who wanted to immigrate into the territory of the British mandate to settle there. millions of arabs immigrated within almost 70 years, between 1881-1948.
there is allot of evidence for the arab immigration in British, American, league of nations and zionist records (for example when Winston Churchill was the secretary of state for the colonies he said "How will a national home be built for the Jewish people if there are restrictions on the Jewish immigration, when the number of Arabs fleeing to Palestine is so great that even if world Jewry can raise all Jews who want to immigrate, Jews will remain in the minority" - (the biography of Winston Churchill by Martin Gilbert, page 1072). Roosevelt the US president at the time wrote in a letter that he knows that the number of Arabs who immigrated to Palestine significantly exceeds the number of Jews who immigrated to Palestine - (U.S. foreign Department of State Documents, page 757, 17/05/1939). and the protocol of the Standing Committee of the League of Nations indicate that the Governor of the Houran complains that within a few months, some 35,000 young people left the Houran and settled in Palestine (protocol of the 27th Session, June 3-18, 1935). those are only a small number of the evidence). and for the population numbers before 1881 there is evidence in ottoman population records and in the description of multiple travelers.
the "palestinians" are no more then arab worker migrants. they wasn't even referred to as palestinians up until the 60s, when they gave themselves that name to create a fake connection to the land. before the 60s they were just arab residents, and was referred to as such.
