I first thought your comment was just being dramatic, but after watching the video you are absolutely right. Wonder what kinda kick backs old mate is getting from Toyota to gush all over this so much! E.g. “The AC is so good I’m actually getting chilly even on a 39C day!” Yeah wow thanks for the wise commentary 😂 Car Expert’s review is night and day compared to this…
I cancelled my GXL order after seeing the boot setup. It’s hopeless. Such a pity as the rest of the car is fabulous. How about a 5 seat version of the GXL, Toyota? I’d place a new order immediately.
I saw a TH-cam where they took out the third row seat in a GXL leaving the seatbelts in and installed a false floor from a company called Loaded Draws. Looks like a really good solution.
The rear 220 v outlet is only 100w. Will not support a coffee machine. The 220 v outlet has nothing to do with the48v system. My 2016 prado has the same 220v outlet
The problem with people these days is that we are conditioned to see the bad and the worst. Since Covid people assume hate and see bad in things than appreciating the best about things. Mostly the bad is less than %5.
That’s a shame you weren’t able to film very much at all the more serious off stuff you guys did. That would have been interesting to watch. Did Toyota have a restriction on what could be filmed?
What is in the air down under? All this whining from people who've been lapping up the toyota recipe since time immemorial. 1) toyota is a value not luxury brand. Expect intentionally underpowered simple powertrains, cheap hardwearing components like interior plastics and outdated technology. They are the kings of constraint for the sake of reliability and longevity. 2) Its 2024 everything is overpriced, who are they not to appropriately position their pricing according to the market. Yes there is a premium for that badge but it's not the end of the world. 3) Your country is seriously regulated, a blessing and a curse. That battery has to be there for the mild hybrid technology (if we can even call it that) as well as the swarm of safety features to pass regulation now and far into the future. Unfortunately this ramps up weight, pricing and complexity. Maybe just continue to buy Toyotas in astounding numbers quietly, find aftermarket solutions for the boot as you've always done with all other toyota shortcomings. They are still as reliable as ever, dont kid yourselves. Once they sort out a few teething problems as expected they'll run forever. If they can endure Africa's potholed roads with dirty fuel, cheap knockoff parts, minimal service all while overloaded 2 to 3 times if not more what they are rated at and still outperform most things on the road they'll be more than manageable in Australia.
I have left this identical comment on both CHASING CARS and CAR EXPERT TH-cam channels. After watching both reviews on the 2025 Toyota Prado, I was surprised that one reviewer has decided to go against the grain of almost every other car reviewer on the planet by giving the vehicle multiple negative comments whilst neglecting to mention the positives. Bizarre. I was left feeling that the review in question had a lingering 'Clickbait' smell about it. I know that there will always be one doctor out there that says that smoking is good for you, or an Alan Jones or an Andrew Bolt that crave notoriety and will state that climate change does not exist, but I didn't think that one particular car reviewer would stoop so low. Please watch both reviews before choosing. Toyota / Japanese build quality verses Ford / Thailand build quality. The choice is easy.
Have my eye on the Altitude for offroad/touring purposes, however I suspect the hot V, BMW 3.0 TD, 3.0 ECOBOOT has it over the 2.8 TD mild hybrid. In stock, a very safe and comfortable daily driver capable of short distance touring with an ability to tackle some challenging offroad trails, grade dependent. Would be great to see a tow test, like the Hilux, I suspect it may be challenged.
70k preorder and 65k orders cancelled due to ridiculous boot I know some business doing modification on that ridiculous boot but again why we have to pay extra on already top dollar car and loosing warranty? Ignore this car and make Toyota engineers back to board and resolve this issue with such a beautiful car from outside.
I looked at GXL and GX-cant live with the GXL rear seats but the GX is better equipped than our 2012 GXL-only missing roof rails, leather and electric drivers seat and electric tailgate as far as I can see. You could retrim in leather for around 3k and I think a lot of previous GXL buyers will buy it if they dont require 3rd row seats.
@@maribogukun emerging markets? AU has Fortuner, this guy is talking about new generation which won't come before a Hilux, which could be 2 years later
So this Prado has the very same 2.8L engine as in my 2020 Fortuner 150Nm, my GXL Fortuner has the sliding second row seats not in the new Prado, I don’t need AdBlue, I get rear differential lock lock that you only get in Altitude Prado, I have the manual tailgate that’s not going to wake up every camper in a campsite, and I can pop my third row seats in and out in 20 minutes that the Altitude doesn’t get. All that for almost half the price?! How’s this Prado a good deal? I can’t fathom. People either have lots of cash or they are fools and buy into looks. A 6 cylinder Everest is a better deal.
@@retepd1e First, I got to admit that you are correct. Some of the new prado design are failure for sure, but you can't say the new one is the same as the Fortuner or even worse based on its engine and diff locks only. It still has something that better than Fortuner, eg: heated and cool seats, I bet if you tried that is summer, you won't go back. Or you can't say LC300 is worse than LC200, mainly because it's a V6 not a V8.
you lost me Toyota with the raised boot, how as a daily driver does my wife lug the shopping up another 22cm just to put it in the boot...... i would never hear the end of it from her and fair enough. the gaps around and between the rear seat / storage box means that you will lose things down there. i saw one at a dealer and the gaps are cavernous. Fail is putting it kindly ...
Sorry Toyota, you lost a long time prado owner, wanted to upgrade but that boot setup is ridiculous!!. Look at the other brands who all get it right, customers want a flat functional bootspace when all seats folded... Plus the Altitude I test drove showed 13.2 L per 100km. Thanks but no thanks, so many better options out there.
Video sponsor by Toyota. Ford Everest V6 diesel is way better than this prado. Petrol 4x4 i would get the GWM Tank 500 much better value for money. nicer interior
Over priced, over weight, under powered, lack of fuel range, silly boot arrangement, toyota have forgotten what people buy the prado for, that is for adventure, 4WD, towing the caravan or a boat, all these review by jurno's must have been paid for by toyota, no one mentions there is no space for a second battery, this thing is a total disappointment, my 2023 150 is far better than this shopping basket, by the way the exact same model is 18k AUD cheaper in NZ, (and other countries get the non hybrid as well), toyota is treating us as muppets
15 years to improve an innovative and it turned out to be a quite poor job.. And to make matters worse, this video appears to be promoting the car not reviewing it...
The space is unacceptable. The car rattles like a tractor. It's very slow. Lots of wind noise. Too much plastic for a 100k car. Adblue. Outdated Engine. fake towing capacity EXPENSIVE!!!!
I consider my current model Prado to be big and slow, so no thanks Toyota and that stupid 7 seater boot, complete joke. You can't tell me that this was better to drive than the V6, what a ridiculous review, saw a far more balanced one on another channel.
$108k for that dog walloper of an engine, that’s laughable, surely at that price it gets something moderately sophisticated in the engine bay? Oh what a failing,Toyota!
This guy sounded like me - totally sold on the Prado regardless of its faults. Unfortunately that doesn't make for an objective assessment, and makes this a very bad video
To be honest, this Prado is very disappointing. The fuel tank is tiny and it will never be as able as the old ones in the Outback! Secondly, the trunk is shockingly small and not usable! Thirdly, the price is ridiculous, for this equipment incuded.I would just lump to the Lands cruiser. It's a shame that with over 100 thousand dollars the interior is another disappointment as well. The truth is this generation is worse than the old one!
The crowds were up in arms when the 300 dropped with starting price of $100k for a GX, now every second comment is how affordable it is to jump from $77k to $104k (GX to GX) like its nothing....
How can it be classified as more capable than the old one when it’s slower, heavier and has a smaller fuel tank.
If they dont say that, how are they supposed to sell more?
People will buy it unfortunately just on the name alone
Being fast and less heavier doesn’t mean capability.
Greater ground clearance and articulation, more rigid chassis and enhancements to traction control.
@ didn’t you teach home about body in frame design which makes it a true SUV?
They had 15 years to get this right. You’d think they would have put some of that time into figuring out a better way to fit that 48V and back seat
They know Aussies will buy a wheelbarrow with a Landcruiser badge. We are the biggest market and least effort.

I’m so glad I held off from getting a new Prado. Going to wait until they release a refreshed and updated version after all the complaints pile up 😅
Agreed … all honest reviews have slammed it
Waiting for all the complaints about the boot, price, and engine 😂
Was bound to happen
Horrible boot space, noisy and under powered engine and the price is too high! I'm def not buying one.
I'm not complaining I won't be having to drive it.
you wont have to wait
Don't let the facts upset the tojo fan boys!
Waiting for someone who has not been given an all expenses paid trip to Kakadu to do a review of this car so we can get an honest opinion.
carsguide did one and it isn't as groveling as this lot.
keep waiting bud
I'm so glad I went with the 300 instead. Looks good on the outside and that's about it.
It surprises me how many people have a lazy $20k lying around ready to blow on a more expensive car like they are shopping for phone cases.
yes at least the 300 only burns a litre of oil per 1000km--- great choice

Good luck getting any reasonable range with AdBlue use when towing.
We're watching this issue very closely...
Now that AdBlue is on every new diesel, a lot of servos will be getting AdBlue pumps. Already quite a few out there.
It’ll look strange parking it at truck diesel pumps to fill up with ad blue.
@@glossamano1899 it won’t just be at the truck diesel pumps. I’ve seen a few locations where it’s just right with the normal pumps.
