Great episode. Had a VX on order as I needed the 7 seats. The front 3/4 of the car is great but I cancelled the order when I opened the back door. Very happy I changed my mind now I have my Y62 Warrior
I’d love to see the 250 tested with 275/70r18 (33.2”). They are taller and thinner than 285/70r17 (32.7”), with nearly the same sidewall. Could be interesting to see how they go, rather than defaulting to 17’s. 18’s are the future anyway due to larger brakes. Plus, more torque on ground vs 35’s. No mods needed to fit them.
If you think about it, a prado is more landcruiser than a 300 series. The prado is underpowered, slow and has design deficiencies which are all real landcruiser characteristics. The 300 is just too good for the LC badge.
@@macpreston 200 would be off tap! V8 goodness and then you can compare with TJ’s 300! But also an updated tech pack version and build it similar to TJ’s 300 would be sick too! Thanks for all the awesome content guys, watching a lot of old eps whilst in surgery recovery. Hoping to win something in a Shedlife club membership giveaway soon!
I own a prado 120, and even i will admit this thing is trying to be something its not. Just to redeem my dignity with all you 79 blokes im on a 5 inch lift and 35s. With 7 inch 80 series rear shocks and flexi coils and rear locked so she flexes really well. Plus coil rear end😂
This sentiment is odd to me because here in the states the “prado 120” or the Lexus gx470 as we know it is known as kind of a weapon. Maybe the 4.7 Petrol V8 made up the difference. 😅
@robotafflicition that's because you Americans have less of a stigma towards cars. If it works it works. Here in Australia there is a very large ego thing. Not to say I don't like it. I wouldn't trade Aussie car culture for the world.
@macpreston no doubt you guys will make this thing a weapon. It's just there is definitely a element of modernisation=less capability in the new one. But that's the same will all cars now that I think about it😅
We enjoy your videos TJ & Mac … and wish we had a Landcruiser to play with, as our old Jeep Commander is getting older :) just clocked up 318,000 kms last week
I think this stuff is neat because here in the states we got the 60 and the 80 series and for years and years I thought that was just it for the Land Cruiser 😂 I almost bought a “Prado” one time but here it’s a Lexus GX470 with the petrol v8
Hello to the Worlds Best Landcruiser Review Team, I think you have done a good job on your review. I now have lots of data for making a decision on what Toyota to purchase, but hopefully I just win one. Cheers Boys. 👍
Having the ability to have the rear locker on in the hilux and have the front end still have brake traction work would be good standard. When it got caught on the root, the front end looked asleep
I’ve had LNs and a Prado 90. Honestly, the 90 series punches well above its weight in flex and traction, but even in the early ones clearance was an issue. Seems that has only gotten worse over the years. They are not a real Land Cruiser, but the old ones will out wheel most modern ifs with same locker/ tyre setup.
The lexus gx550 is another option as few more upgrades and v6 engine buy for 130k, starting price, and top spec gx550 is 145k, is just a slight improvement over the fake lc aka prado but have driven one and still went with a gr sports 300 that has most things and twin locked.
In the usa the 250 prado comes as a turbo v6 petrol hybrid equivalent to 430hp i dont know why that can't be a Australian option.. if that was sold in Australia the everest would be so far behind, Toyota could take the market
Because it would cannabalise the flagship 300 series sales. Theres a reason Toyota Australia only have the smaller drivetrain so they have diversity in their model line up
What limitations are you boys thinking of when modifying it? Perhaps 50mm lift and 7% increase in tyre diameter so no Engineering required?Too much is interesting but not that valuable. And the USA will always win with excess- for example, Dissent Off-road have already modified their 250 series with 40 inch tyres and portals !!!
Looks like the guys in charge of the out of date tech and design for the 300 dash and head unit were in charge of the 250 rear boot floor, even the 5 seat altitude, which looks the same as US model is cooked. The design problem starts there and ends being a disastrous 3rd row. Even going with the 120 removable fold ups would be a better arrangement. Another dig at the 300 is that the ultimate pricey off roader of the range has kdss and lockers but then they leave the plastic undercarriage 'protection' and tie down points and the first to be hit side steps. And they call it the GR sport. Very disappointing!
Ah yeah alrigh. So there goes 70% of the cruiser line😂 people diss IFS so much becausr they dont really know what they are doing and are too scared to touch their car get the rear end flexing right and an IFS will keep up with solid axles all day.
Not really a fan of front solid axles, looks goofy when lifted, I get it has more flexibility and less maintenance than IFS but I like my ground clearance between my tires and better handling.
@OutOfPocket-h9e yeah I mean there is no wrong answer. Put it this way, you give me a solid axle, I'll do the exact same track I do on an IFS. IFS is almost impossible to stay away from. Still got the solid rear axle for flex and yet far better handling. But solid axle is definitely better if you want to spend $8k and get a bulletproof tough track car and chuck some almost bold 37s on it. IFS when built right is very capable but definitely more expensive. To each their own man. Just one rule, no matter which one you own, have fun in it😁
Idk it has smaller crown wheel front and back than the 100 series everyone seems to bash. lol thinner diff housing, about the same hp and torque as the 25 year old 100 series. Tech is nice for sure but it’s staring to look like the dirty one 😂
Great episode.

Can’t go wrong when u choose a v8 over a 4 banger anyway 😂 👌🏼👌🏼
I had a 250 VX on order as well, ended up getting a 300. Happy with my decision as well.
V8 > Prado slow pig 😂
I think I got your cancelled vx order with zero wait time. Thank you.

Ps I love you ronny

Ronny may have done it first but TJ and Mac are gonna do it best!
i wont say that
Hell yeah test track episode 🤙🏾 Good episode lads and test track comparisons 🍻

Hey boys it nearly looks like one of those jeep commanders from behind can’t wait to see what mods get done keep the good work up lads
Also looks like a 300 tank thing from behind haha
The sooner people just agree that these things are simply just a small land cruiser the sooner the world can move forward
Congrats on 150k subs! :D
Cheers mate! Appreciate the support 🙏
This is hilarious, great review guys. Congrats on 1fittyK subs!!
Thanks so much! 😊
Epic vid lads. Best 250 review amongst many. I’m calling it a Landcruiser now, it’s past the tipping point for me, particularly the altitude.
Thanks Trevor !!

Going strong though !
Hahah the Prado has land cruiser written on it more than any other cruiser, Like it’s tryna convince its self it’s a land cruiser 😂
Hahahaha so true to 😂😂😂
like an M badge on a non M car
Comprehensive and fun review Lads. Prado is a good looking rig out of the box.

Haha excellent news Scott 😜 glad it helped 😅
Prado looks more like a Land Cruiser than the 300 does
Can't agree with ya there mate. The Prado looks nothing like a landcruiser or Prado in my opinion
The prado looks like a 80 series and a 100 series had a baby
The LN looks sick with the Steelies. Love it
Ahhh I like it to ! Haha thanks man
Thank you for the hard work.
1:06 No Landcruiser owner has ever said to a Prado owner “nice Prado” 😂
U can see the whole botox doors flex in the first step 😂
where?

Shed life club here i come!
And now, 250 vs 76 v4 please.
would have been epic if youy guys also had a 76 series in the review. Land cruiser wagon shootout
USA 250 has a center diff and rear locker. Yours as optioned is center diff only??
Yeah which just means 4wd really
No lockers
Is there any SSM options out there yet? Get some legal 35’s on there
Yeah apparently soon 🤩

Genuinely why would you spend that coin on a Prado over a Y62 🤔
Toyota delusional fanboys 😂
Economy and tech.
Prob be a diesel vs petrol argument for that one 🤷♂️
Would love to watch a 300 vs Y62 with you guys. Doing gods work 🤙🏻
Haha one day 😜

🎉🎉
70s like to party!
@@macpreston the only haters are ones that never had one or can’t afford one
Exactly bloody right mate. All those people out there that have never owned one all seem to be experts
in new Zealand we have the Sr5 Crusier
Should put the 60 up against the Prado, have seen a video of the 60 kicking its arse.
Prob would 😅
Great video fellas
Thanks Craig !
With the prado give away, will you guys also offer the option of cash instead for people who don’t want the Prado?
The lexus gx550 is another option as few more upgrades and v6 engine buy for 130k, starting price, and top spec gx550 is 145k, is just a slight improvement over the fake lc aka prado but have driven one and still went with a gr sports 300 that has most things and twin locked.
Yep, not sure at those price points why anyone would choose the Prado over the 300 😅
Should solid axle swap front and rear on it
What a Cruiser? Get a real 4wd lol. Get a Toyata. Loved the video mate
Great vid guys
Happy Wednesday everyone
Weird the 250 here has the rear locker, I wonder why not your version?
Time will tell guys, the 300 is yet to proove itself.
Can you review the ford f150 Like that

Tinkerer's Adventure on YT did a measurements of a the Toyota 4WDs.
every car has pros cons, but disco 4 is a great machine with comfort and capability
Everything is better then Toyota except reliability
Any car with highway tyres is going to struggle on these steps

🤣🤣🤣 thats a nice LAND CRUISER
Altitude is the only grade with a rear locker.
hiluxs aren't sold in USA so might be why push button start is on the other side
Anything that is not a solid front axle isn't a real Landcruiser, full stop...
So everything from the 100 series on isn't a Landcruiser?
