Moths navigate by moonlight, and have been around for much, much, much longer than artificial light. They don't know how to process the light source, so they try to correct their path.
In short, they're not attracted to lamp, they're disoriented by it.

Also, the intensity of the light blinds them when they get close, so they get stuck in a loop of approaching the light and turning away

3:55 I sure can. Moths are typically nocturnal, so in nature, most moths which are outside at night, need to find the flowers they're supposed to pollinate. So flowers which open at night, like some cacti and perennial vines, have bright white flowers so that the white will reflect moonlight and moths can find the flowers to pollinate them. When they see a similarly bright light in the dark, they assume from instinct that it's a white flower glowing in the moonlight, and then proceed to hang around confused as to why they can't pollinate or feed from it. Some people use darker or colored lights, because they don't form the natural clean white hue of moonlight on white petals. Almost all night-time pollinators are attracted to white and pale yellow lights for this reason. It's really not weird at all in fact, it's probably weird to them that we leave all these bright lights out to confuse them so they can't find flowers lol. If this wasn't thecase, all night opening and many early morning opening flowers wouldn't be bright white, but they are because they reflect moonlight specifically to attract moths. It's many many years of evolution.

Explanation as to why moths are attracted to light : moths, and most insects, needed to go in straight lines to reach positions. So, they found a clever idea; they took a luminous object, the moon, and began going in its direction. Because you cant reach the moon, they would always be going in a straight line, keeping the same angle during the trip. Humans came and started building lights, so when moths wanted to go in a straight line, they would take another luminous object than the moon, for exemple, a city light. The light is so bright they think its the moon and start going towards it like they were doing, but contrary to the moon, they catch up to it and reach it. That means their angle would break and they would have to recalibrate the angle all the time and start going in a circle around the city light. There are many lights like this like your car's lights, which is why you find moths around it. So good advice if you want insects to leave a place, turn off the lights. (Also this doesnt work on mosquitoes because they are not attracted to light, but they're attracted to you and you specifically)

The reason moths fly in circles around a light is due to the way they navigate. Since they use the moon to orient themselves (and therefore fly in a straight line), any other bright light will throw them off. They will think that this new light source is the moon, and fly around it trying to keep it on the same side, failing to fly in a straight line as intended.

The reason moths are attracted to light I'd because in the old days (back when there was no electricity) moths used to use the moon as their campus. Using it as some sort of map, or as a means of seeing at night.
Nah dude. Covid KILLED most of the science fields. Places shut down and a lot of scientists lost their jobs, so every time a job opens up in chemistry or physics, it gets filled by a much more qualified person. My dad got his master's in physics and hasn't been able to hold down a job for more than 3 or 4 months in the last 2 years. Why would anyone hire a newly graduated scientist with no experience when Bob with his doctorate and 17 years of experience got laid off last week? They wouldn't and they don't. These fields which used to have low job opportunities, but almost no one to fill them now have many thousands of over qualified people to fill them and no more jobs left.

Moths seek light cause they are cold blooded i believe. What this means is when it turns night and the temperature drops, so does their body temperature. They seek light because, due to their small stature, any regular sized lightbulb gives off a tremendous amount of heat, which helps keep their body temperature in check until morning when they can go back to relying on the suns natural heat

Funny thing is that Florida only has so many crazy stories involving criminals because they have one of the most transparent reporting for crimes. It's because moth eyes try to balance out how much moonlight gets into each side. That's how they fly straight. When you turn on a porch light, you throw off that sense of balance, which causes the moth to perpetually fail to balance out the light intake which causes them to fly towards the porch light. Thanks to most porch lights being made of flame or hot lightbulb, the moth goes crazy because of the heat until it eventually flies into the candle/bulb and burns up.
