I'm doing a quilt top now with a hidden 9 patch. I'm cutting them on the diagonal and sewing 2 of them into a block. But I love this idea too. Love your color choices.

Thank you Eleanor for this wonderful video. I watched you on the Saturday broadcast from the 1980's until the show no longer aired, and always enjoyed every program. Thank you for all the inspiration you provide to Quilters.

I have used Eleanor Burns patterns for along time. She really explains her quilts. I can't tell you how many of her quilts I have made. She is a good teacher.

Beautiful! Nice, and very understandable. Which you have to be for new quilters such as I. I love watching these videos. So many kind of ways to do so many different quilts! Thank you, for making these videos!

A nice variation on the 9-Patch, and appropriate for the beginner's class I plan to teach in a few months. And BTW, the woman narrating is Eleanor Burns, author and founder of the whole "Quilt in A Day" phenomenon. Some of you folks commenting could learn a lot from this lady.

Love the tutorial, Eleanor Burns is an excellent teacher. My friend created a black and white version with blue accent. So cool looking.

Oh my gosh this is the coolest and most simple idea I've seen so far! :) Thank you for posting this! I am wanting to make a lap quilt for each of my parents for their upcoming anniversary/birthday/mother's and father's day (not all the same day but close enough to throw them all in lol). The quilt I started for my mom seemed so boring when I drew it up, but now that I watched this video I know what I'm going to do to jazz it up a bit!! I'm so excited, thanks again!

Great tutorial Ms Burns. I have every one of your books and CDs, a major fan of your style. Thanks for all the short cuts. I made a bed runner and throw pillow using the tossed nine patch and it is lovely. Thanks again.

I was a bit put off by the tone of voice, BUT, she DIDN'T stutter, say "uh" several times, or go on and on about herself. THAT annoys me much more!! Quick and simple - THANK YOU!

Her tone makes me believe this really IS just THAT S*I*M*P*L*E. It's a wonderful way to easily put together something that will look very intricate. (And, if you really DID miss why the bag is used...it is to emphasize that you make all these blocks of many colors and pattern and it magically comes together EVEN when you blindly pull from a bag.)

I did this with 5" squares that I bought and some that I cut from yardage. I was very careful when I cut my own blocks. I found that I have to actually square up the blocks- which is making my teal 5 " squares not all square for the finished quilt! When buying 5" squares are they sometimes not squared when we buy them?

S Foster After watching many videos where they over explain and show every little detail, I actually found this video refreshing! I love that she didn't explain 14 times "we always use a 1/4" seam" and "iron to the dark" or "lock your seams", etc. If you've made even one quilt, you should know basics like that. I'm just looking for new tricks to make quilting easy without having to wade through 10-15 minutes of over explanations on how to do it. I thought this one was perfect!
