    in disaster tv shows / movies, these things always happen within a span of days, weeks at most. So people keep saying "This is never gonna happen, it's impossible".
    But look what has been happening for the past 50 years. We have more powerful hurricanes. Tornados where there weren't before. More floods, more forest fires, more powerful earthquakes, tsunamis. More and more, coming faster and faster, every year.
    And then, when the world finally goes to hell like in one of those movies, people are gonna say we never saw it coming.

    I love movies like this, where nature just goes hard on everything and there’s nothing anyone can do but just adapt and survive. You know, there was the volcano supereruption about 74,000 years ago, and this is called the Toba catastrophe theory, where it may have caused a 6-10 year global volcanic winter and had a 1,000 year cooling period. It is one of the largest known explosive eruptions in Earths history and it caused a genetic bottle neck in humans, because it reduced our population down to somewhere around 3,000 to 10,000 individual humans. So around 50,000 years ago the human population greatly expanded from only a few thousand individuals. We don’t know for sure if the Toba eruption is the cause, but it’s the most likely theory. Crazy isn’t it? We almost went extinct.

  • @alyxgriffen5073
    @alyxgriffen5073 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    This is one of my favorite "apocalyptic disaster" movies, but the main reason I bought the DVD years ago was the "tornados in Los Angeles" section. I get anxiety dreams periodically, and for years, the subject of those dreams was that I would go outside, and there would be huge tornados all over the city. (I'd spend the bulk of the dream trying to evade them, and trying to warn others sbout them.) So when that Los Angeles section came up on the screen, I exclaimed, "Oh My Gawd, it's my dream! Right there on the screen!"
    Periodically I'll get into A Mood, and watch a bunch of apocalyptic movies. This one is always in the list.

    • @Juide80
      @Juide80 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even I'm not a father I was thinking exactly that when this father in the movie got off the phone with his son. I was thinking if you raised the kids they will always be your kids at least until they have their own kids and in that case it's not really even a choice. It doesn't probably even feel like a sacrifice. It doesn't even feel like it's your job but it's your only real calling you'll ever have at that level and it's just just time to start solving problems that are or likely will be on your way to securing their safety and the first problem that needs solving is the plan and you go from there.
      I think that's how father's instincts just work. it's not the same for mothers, they are more likely to either just start running without a plan or to get an overwhelming feeling of helplessness that will freeze them. Of course there are different types of mothers and fathers but I bet that this is generally pretty close to how it works and that it doesn't even include pride or shame in either of them and that it works mostly in automation that doesn't stop until it's done.
      Tell me if I'm wrong or right.

  • @AniwayasSong
    @AniwayasSong 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    While this movie's events are over-the-top (By how fast they developed/took over), it does get quite a few things correct. During our last Ice Age (Roughly 20,000 years ago), sea levels were @200-400' LOWER than they are now. Which means every coast around the world was significantly lower than it is today. Now imagine if sea levels ROSE by as little as 100', the catastrophe that would be for every city on the coast.
    Still, a great movie, and a wonderful 'Reaction!'

    This movie has been in the headlines lately. There are signs of the ocean currents slowing down, in temperature dropping in places because of the melting of the glaciers. this changes the water composition such as salinity which affects the speed of the currents. It has the potential to slow and stop p in which case we're screwed. Google and look it up and it'll tell you the same.

    The problem of the movie is not that the sun isn't going out, it's that the major ocean currents had shut down which not only was the cause of the last ice age, but is the main fear of our current climate change problem. In short, if there is too much CO2 in the atmosphere, it causes heating near the ground which causes arctic ice to melt, but since ice is technically fresh water it can cause the ocean currents to shut down. When it shuts down the Northern Hemisphere freezes, and the currents begin healing. Don't worry though this movie is mainly exaggeration as the ice age took 10 years to freeze the Northern Hemisphere not in the matter of weeks.

Then we go to other cousin's place, make sure the family there is loaded & follow back over to my street to meet up with everyine else whose been told to meet at my grandma's. Most relatives are pretty close in the same city/county & can meet up there. We caravan down to my uncle & his wife in Orlando. Even a single storm of that magnitude is quite literally impossible on this planet at this current time even in the next 1000 years, The only thing that can create that drastic of a climate shift is an asteroid impact. And it wouldn't even be to that magnitude. I like the movie, one of my favorite apocalypse type movies but most of everything is nonsense.

    The Day After Tomorrow was one of my favorite Childhood disaster movie and if you didn't know that is not because of the sun it was mankind's fault that all that stome was happening because of people putting way stupid toxic things in the warter by making global warming happening
    An No global warming it's not real it's based on Science fiction back story of The Day After Tomorrow Jack found that 10,000 years ago, a global warming changed the earth's climate into the Ice Age. Jack says that it could happen again in maybe 100 to 1,000 years from now if humans don't stop polluting the atmosphere.

    Look at the difference between climate in England, for example, and other places at the same latitude. England has it's temperate climate soley because of the Gulf Stream current, which is already being affected by climate change.

    If this happens and it really could. We would not live. Over a 100 below temperatures. Its called the Adam and Eve story. Not the biblical but they have theries that the earths tilt is changing at pretty high levels and its gets more degrees tilt every 10 yeasr i believe. Its worth the listen to the documentary about the changing earths axis. But thats what would happen if the tilt went too far , most of all of us would freeze to death in the first 3 days. With the tilt that is happening the equator would go to 0 and the earth would flip and everyone wouldnt make it.
