This is not guaranted. Since it's a direct continuation of Rock Story, i assume the new generation from MotW (Rock, B Jennet, Marco, Dong-hwan and Jae-Hoon, etc) will get priority, with the most iconics old gen characters included as well (Terry, May, Billy...) and of course some newcomers.
@@emperormegaman3856 Yeah, but at the same time remember that the MOTW roster is super small for late 90s... so it's impossible to make a decent roster in a modern fg without resorting to a good portion of other sources outside of MOTW to make up the roster. Another point: the base roster needs to have a certain size close to 20, otherwise it will be criticised (and with a good reason). Another point yet: modern fgs are having dlc and this one wont be an exception, because these games are too expensive to be just standalone, also the own community likes games with a long life and content updates... and since the MOTW roster is super small then it's obvious that the devs will resort to other sources to keep growing the roster.
@@carlosaugusto9821 I know, but like i said, there are also newcomers (two of the characters revealed so far are new and there'll definitely be more), and then the mainstay from Fatal Fury, the more iconics characters like Terry, Andy, May, Joe, Billy Kane (several of them already hinted at). No shade to Duck King. Like the guy. but he is definitely not going to be the first Fatal Fury character they bring in. Especially since they'll probably bank on those who have a lot of KoF recognitions (Duck King only had one KoF playable appearance) so that even people not familiar with Fatal Fury see a character they recognize.
Even if we assume a starting roster of 25 to 30 characters (and that's some big numbers) with 12 MotW character (assuming one or two don't returns), some newcomers, and a dozen of Fatal Fury (not to mention the possiblity of bringing in Art of Fighting) characters, you could still run out of space in the base roster before getting to the semi-obscure fan favorites like Duck King.
it's not impossible to have him, but it wouldn't be unreasonable on SnK's part if he isn't in the base roster.
I have a feeling they will save the COTW reveal for main stage. Especially if its a big character like Mai

If i were SNK and want to really have ppl to play the game. They should have a side tournament for Fatal Fury COTW with a prize or something. Either that, really excited for snk's COTW announcements.

It's probably going to be the Street Fighter characters, but the other option would be a "Dream Match" season where they include some of the characters that didn't return even with XIV ending. Orochi, Verse, maybe Saiki (unsure wether he could have returned). Or character like Nameless who is stuck in dubiously canon teritory.
Honestly i think they could do more with the boss challenge. Make a fighted against a busted recolor of Kyo or Ash, and bam! You get Kusanagi or Dark Ash. Give Ryo a black Gi and a goatee and you get a Mr. Karate II. But i guess it wouldn't make sense for these to return in the lore (and i can respect KoF sticking to it's lore), having a season where they just go "this last one isn't canon, anything goes" would allow them to do that.
I have that opinion about boss challenge since the time the mode was added. The best direction to manage it would be feeding content in the form of special broken versions of existing chars, in the same line of that extra mode in SF5, and then occasional bosses every new season (Rugal and Goenitz so far). That way it would look like a developed, well planned and robust mode.
And actually it would have been easy to make that, with clever planning and the right decisions. Like, the animation of Kyo's staple super is the same that can be used for his old fireball. And just take other animations (some are with Shingo) and we get "old Kyo" with zero effort on new animation, only the old costume. That could be an exclusive char with broken damage and combos, etc.
Just give Ryo a regular full screen fireball, create his air fireball animation just inclining his arm to 45 degrees, give him a air super... and we get an "old Ryo" with some broken stuff he had like the air super from KOF 94.
And so on for other chars... maybe Benimaru from Nest saga, with that shadow clone super; Old Iori with that paralyzing super from KOF 98. These things are not hard to make and most cases could even just reuse animations. And again, even Capcom used this strategy to feed more content in that mode.
Very excited for the dev panel, realistically I think there will only be 1 character for the DLC but anymore would be a nice surprise
I think KOF XV Special DLC would be FF CotW original fighter like Preecha or Vox!
and Fatal Fury City of the Wolf would get the guest charecter from Street Fighter, hopefully Ken!!

I think the Special Character for KOF 15 will be Alex from Street Fighter 3, I wanted to know if SNK will put a Street Fighter 3 character, because of the number 3. Will that be a hint for SNK Vs CAPCOM 3 for sure.

Honestly, if the make a dream match game, they should use it as a opportunity to includes characters that won't get in KoF due to the unmoving timeline. like Mr Karate II (older Ryo), the few special cases that are not resurected and/or doesn't have a reason to return in canon (Kusanagi, Dark Ash), and surprise pick like Nameless, Godess Athena or something.

Not a bad idea. At least it's a much better shoto option than Ryu. But i'm more inclined to melee rushdown chars like Cammy instead of a shoto, that would fit KOF's style.

I’m trying my best to not expect too much from EVO. In terms of the “Special Character,” I might expect just a free update boss character. I’ve always wanted Mr. Karate as a boss challenge, which I feel would be appropriate, and could lead up to CotW.
Speaking of CotW, I’m hoping to see Mai the most in the game. I think the crowd would go crazy if she was announced at EVO. Aside from characters, I’d also like news on the story mode of the game.
Tangentially, I think we may get our first glimpse at Terry in SF6 at EVO as well.
I'm curious to see and know more of the story mode too. Because it's an area that has always been lacking in SNK games. They might have nice ideas about story but their execution, as we have seen in KOF 14-15 and Samsho, is still echoing the style of late 90s and 00s... like mostly text and pictures and short cutscenes.
But since the early ps4 gen the industry has been pushing much higher standards of story mode and single player content package overall. Like, even a standalone game that is not a fg franchise, like DBFZ, got a story mode with lots of cutscenes. So i wonder if SNK this time is going to address that matter.
If they only put out one character and that's all for King of fighters 15. I'm going to be pissed. Because I'm pretty sure it's going to be Orchi..... This game could have had one last full season.

@@nayyabmughal1123 I have many doubts about Kim, because Jae Hoon's moveset is identical. So if it's to keep his moveset then there are slim chances. He would need some moveset changes to avoid redundency problems like with SF shotos.

I prefer Chun Li or Cammy than most shotos as a guest in a SNK fg. Because these games work in a way that a shoto feels kinda awkward. And of all shotos, Ryu is the worst by far. Ken and Akuma are better but they are still awkward. But those girls would fight better because of their particular moveset and combo potential up close.

I have no idea why SNK is licensing its characters (Terry and Mai) to Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 when it’s about to launch a new Fatal Fury game.
Maybe we might be getting something like snk Vs Capcom collection too, so sort of like a hint.

Not sure you are informed but it was Capcom's initiative to go after SNK... and it's a much bigger company, it owns the biggest fg franchise of all time, which even became much more powerful in this newest release. How would SNK, a smaller and struggling company, seriously refuse that? Being directly asked to take SF's guest character virginity.

Sadly KOF XV has been dead for months already.. I am not planning to come back to KOF XV I don't care about the DLC anymore. Imma wait for City Of The Wolves.

It's a complicated situation because KOF 15 right now needs some hot news to hope to get any attention... but now it seems too late to invest on hot and ambitious ideas for KOF 15.
I’m I the only one that just doesn’t vibe with ff character? The game look really good but I just can’t see myself enjoying any of the character.
Hm... i must say i can't relate. I'm into Fatal Fury since FF2 and actually find some FF chars much better than some SF chars. Overall SNK became more competent at character creation than SF devs around the mid 90s, and incomparably more competent in the late 90s. After all Capcom's best designers were moved to Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, etc and werent concentrated at SF.

I don't like the "special" character thing. Why would I want to play a sf character I don't care about when they're still so many kof characters missing in this game? Would ryu bring sf players on kof? No. Would ryu bring back kof players who don't play anymore because the online is bad? No.
