- So here we are at Evo 2024, and SvC Chaos aka SNK vs Capcom was just announced and shadow dropped, its good to go right now! SvC Chaos is SNK's take on the capcom vs snk formula(versus capcom making the game) and theres so much right with it, some very interesting gameplay systems, some really beautifully animated sprites, great singleplayer content, but also there's some... jank. It didn't get to fully finish being made before it was put out the door which sort of led it to being the game that it is, a twisted classic. Lots of broken stuff(good!) but also broken stuff(bad!) and it leads to it being a very interesting history piece, so lets learn about it!

The first version of Chaos was gash, it got a bad name for itself out the gate but pretty soon there was super and super plus and they slapped. Akumas power is satsui no hado, MBison uses psycho power.

EVO needs to turn up like this every year. Every dev seems like they are going crazy. Fighting Games can officially say they are back and thriving.
Now I wish that the retailers like GameStop would carry more arcade sticks for the fighting game community.

A couple years ago I genuinely came to terms with the idea that we would never get these games Re-released, however 2024 is seriously an unreal year so far for fighting games, MVC and CVS are actually back and my brain still can’t process that concept, these are personally some of my favorite things of all time ever, so it’s been really emotional to see both SNK and Capcom back and better than ever, their games have helped me through the hardest times of my life, and I’m grateful to see them back!
Now Capcom... CVS2 is riigghhtt thereeee.

That's probably being saved for a third volume of the fighting collection.
Volume 1 was the Darkstalkers games, Volume 2 was the Marvel games so volume 3 would probably be the leftovers like the two SNK games and Power stone or something.

True, but I find it weird that Kyo isn't featured, instead Terry is obviously representing SNK's side opposite to Ryu who represents Capcom, and I'm saying is weird since SvC's opening movie shows Kyo fighting Ryu. I know Terry is SNK's mascot and I believe they want to promote his appearance in Street Fighter 6 and the future City of the Wolves, but I find it kind of ironic how Kyo's importance has been reduced a lot in recent years
@@pablocasas5906 they swapped kyo with Terry because it's evo which is mostly an American audience so they're trying to appeal to the American market that prefer terry. In reality kyo represented snk in this game and all the other VS games.
The problem is snk pushes terry to the American market because that's why they like but the rest of the world sees kyo in all their stuff. You said it yourself they put terry in the artwork yet kyo is actually the protagonist along side ryu this was for the benefit of terry fans or because terry is going to be in sf 6
@@thekid8224 I mean, I'm from Latin America and Terry is my favorite SNK character, I always chose him alongside Kyo and Iori when I played KOF '98 in the arcades, and honestly I haven't seen any Latin American fans on social media complaining about Kyo not being on the cover, though I say Iori Yagami is the most popular SNK character amongst Latin American fans
It's just weird that for quite a long time, especially during the late 90's and early 2000s SNK and Capcom always pushed for a rivarly between Kyo and Kyo, excpet on the cover of SNK vs. Capcom Card Battle for the Neo Geo Pocket, where Terry and Ryu were featured as the faces of each company.
@@pablocasas5906 I don't think it's weird it's just marketing strategy. The only thing is it's creating confusion among fans. If you watch the trailer the first characters you see is kyo and ryu lol.
Terry is the default SNK and KOF rep nowadays, you see him everywhere in collaborations. Mai, Nakoruru, are also popular choices for SNK in collaborations. You really don't see Kyo too often now.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that. I’m glad that these companies like SNK and capcom. Are finally giving us the games we have been waiting on for years
I’m not really a fan of this particular game but Hell I will buy it if this means they’ll keep bringing back all this “VS” games

This game has some of the most BEAUTIFUL sprite work I've seen in a long time since, and after! SNK KILLED IT on the visuals on this game!

From what I've seen this is one of the best looking 2d fighters out there. The Mars people were also an inspired and wacky inclusion.
I think they did a way better job at picking less used Capcom OCs than Capcom does.
I dislike playing this game but boy do I love some of these sprites.

He's also the main character in Gargoyle's Quest on Gameboy
So to me SNK vs Capcom SvC Chaos has become one of if not the most loved 2d fighting game i ever played.
I think this game is just awesome to play it with friends but imo it shouldn't be played competetive. Just agree with your homies if you're fine with bosses or just regular characters and have a blast. Winner passes the controller and takes a drink to get worse at the game, loser continues training his main character until he wins. Many weekends to follow, many slumber partys to organize until i'm too old to play, whenever that may be.
I need this, but have to wait till Monday

I hope so, but from everything I've seen, the licensing for that game was an absolute nightmare. The US version already LOST characters from because of 30 year old licensing agreements. It probably won't happen. I'm still mad that game left out the Samurai Pizza Cats.
I also wish for this. In this case, I want to see a re-combined version of both the original Japanese release with the Western one. Unfortunately, this is going to be a bigger legal nightmare than with MvC due to the licensing of all the Tatsunoko characters being all over the place in the West

lol i was supposed to post this earlier, but i was at the 2xko thing. I was supposed to post this along with the announcement but instead was like 2 hours later. papa snk was nice enough to give me a early copy so I had the video already made. But yes I do bring all my equipment with me everywhere

Just to clarify, Red Arreemer and Athena were actually not playable in any way in the original version (MVS/AES). They were unlocked only in the ps2/xbox versions. If you install (through unofficial mods) a custom bios on your NG then you can play them on MVS/AES...but back then there was no way. That is why those two characters are so nuts.

Earthquake, Shiki and Genjuro from Samurai Shodown and Demitri from Darkstalkers fits SVC Chaos SNK vs Capcom is True in 2003 from 21 years ago...
I can’t help but wish it was an ”Ultimate Match style” updated version like KoF98 & KoF2002 got. If there’s one game that would’ve benefitted from it, it’d been this one.
Reuse some sprites from other old SNK games, and hire a couple of talented 2D sprites artists and animators to make an equal amount of Capcom characters, as well as some new stages (with one of the old veteran SNK artists as art director to guide them and make sure they stay true to the art style). And adjust the balance for both characters and game systems as well. Would’ve been a very different budget for the game, of course, but man it would’ve been such a perfect opportunity to do so, especially since their relationship with Capcom is seemingly mended, so if there ever were a time they’d be cool with them updating SvC, it’d probably be now.
There were super version and super plus, which both slapped especially the latter, but I'm not sure how "official" those versions were. The version being released tomorrow is essentially super plus, all characters available.
@@TemporaryApethe super/super plus versions of the game were bootlegs. the only additions they really had just giving the secret characters clear roster spots without having to input codes.
Would’ve loved a separate mode that had the boss characters playable in a balanced way. But of course, not expected.

Been expressing interest on playing this game for quite sometime since playing the Neo Geo Pocket Color one on Switch. Getting this tomorrow on my PS5. Forever keep bringing back these classics!
This game is very underrated. There is some crazy shit you can do at the top level. There is a group on TH-cam that have tournaments on this game and you can see just how bonkers the combat in this game can be.
When I saw the announcement I starting going a little crazy. It’s no CVS2 but it’s still pretty great and a step in the right direction. I’m definitely picking this up as soon as I can on PS4. Also that art of Mai and Chun-li had me crying tears of joy. Glad to see the girls being besties again. Papa Capcom is talking to his exes again it seems.

getting SNK vs Capcom match of the millennium from neo geo pocket ported forward a few years ago we already really fun but now they have the full arcade SNK vs Capcom on everything (except deadbox lol) and im really happy

Well Ultra Street Fighter 2 added Shin Akuma as a hidden character AND made Violent Ken playable. SVC CHAOS' hidden character Goenitz made it to King of Fighters 15 as a playable character a boss challenge. There is Geese Howard who also made it into KOF 15, heck even in Tekken 7 but as a DLC character
True but the point wasn’t that the characters themselves wouldn’t be acceptable; but the playable tech.
Athena in particular was so monstrous I never went to a tournament where she was permitted playable. In fact at one tournament in particular she wasn’t just Banned but Genjyuro was too, purely because he shared a roster spot with her 🤣
everyone loves the cvs/svc games until it comes to playing them, lobbies for all of them are dead and so will the collection be if it happens lol
It's good that they are re releasing the rare classics like the old Marvel vs Capcom games and now SVC CHAOS so people will have more opportunities to play them. Unlike games like Street Fighter 2 & Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike, where people already had MANY chances to play. There are so many versions of Street Fighter 2 & 3rd Strike got re released SO MANY times

I have two complaints about this game - both the backgrounds and music are tediously dull to look at and listen to. KoF is known for its amazing stages and music, but none of that is here.
They made this game in a hurry while the company was shutting down. All the stages are bleak and apocalyptic because SNK thought this was the end.
