This song is a masterpiece that has withstood the test of time. This song still sounds as good today as the first time that I heard it, and I am convinced that it will sound just as good fifty years from now. This song was sung with such passion that one could not help but to be captivated from the very first note.
Probably one of the best rap songs of not one of the best songs of all time. It was a big coop for Conan to get this man on his show and it speaks volumes about what the show was about. People make jokes about Coolio because of his luck and his funny attitude with his more lighthearted songs but the man was a true artist and even if he never surpassed gangsters Paradise that is more than most artist nowadays are ever able to achieve. Truly transformative and informative for the culture back then and it’s eerily poignant now. Rest in power
The very first rap I've ever heard as a grade schooler, and the only rap song that I know from start to finish off the top of my head, and in my mind is the best hip-hop/rap tune ever. Rest easy, Coolio. Thank you for the memories. Loved how you connected to the 90s kids by appearing on Nickelodeon, and getting slimed. That's probably one of your greatest traits.
This song hits so fucking hard... especially in this performance... you can tell by his performance here (and from the video and other performances) that the lyrics really hit home for him. This is easily one of the best songs ever made. RIP Artis Leon Ivey Jr, AKA Coolio.
What a gem of a performance! It's amazing to see how music and pop culture can transcend time and continue to be relevant even after so many years. This video of Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" on the Late Night with Conan O'Brien was a resounding success in its time, and remains a hip-hop music classic to this day. It has already been 28 years since this video was published, almost three decades! Nonetheless, the lyrics of the song remain as powerful and relevant as ever.🎉
Back then I thought he was in his 20's but he was in his 30's. Almost a decade older than I thought. I was thinking he was born in the early 70's but he was born in the early 60's. Amazing to think this song could have came out in the 80's. I think the 90's was the best time. Not sure if this song would have worked in the 80's.

Honestly I am not fan of this kind of music, but this song is at another level, so simple very basic yet beautiful. and best of all, no autotune no voice enhancer and yet sounds terrific. Cannot stop listening to it.
Let me tell you the reason The reason is LV He owns the soul of this song, i really suggest you to listen to the LV version of this song, that one is better than this In the hooks, he did everything that was needed He maintained a sad melody He maintained a serious lyrics He maintained impactful vocals He maintained every other thing that was needed to make this song legendary Now, suppose all these things in one full song, LV gave everything he had to that song, he released a few albums after that but none of them touched the quality of that song LV, in that song went as close to perfection as a man can go.
Left with chills, Beautiful song, love the choir of young lads they were killing it heavenly vocals, LV was amazing too, Coolio killed that performance too and the band that bass man loved it over all everyone did their thing much respect and R.I.P Coolio

I can't live a normal life, I was raised by the street
So I gotta be down with the hood team
Too much television watchin', got me chasing dreams
I'm a educated fool with money on my mind
Got my ten in my hand and a gleam in my eye
I'm a loc'd out gangsta, set trippin' banger
And my homies is down, so don't arouse my anger
Fool, death ain't nothin' but a heart beat away
I'm livin' life do or die, what can I say?
I'm 23 now but will I live to see 24?
The way things is going I don't know
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me?
Been spendin' most their lives
Livin' in a gangsta's paradise
Been spendin' most their lives
Livin' in a gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives
Livin' in a gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives
Livin' in a gangsta's paradise
Power and the money, money and the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybody's runnin', but half of them ain't lookin'
It's going on in the kitchen, but I don't know what's cookin'
They say I gotta learn, but nobody's here to teach me
If they can't understand it, how can they reach me?
I guess they can't, I guess they won't
I guess they front, that's why I know my life is out of luck, fool
Been spendin' most their lives
Livin' in a gangsta's paradise
Been spendin' most their lives
Livin' in a gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives
Livin' in a gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives
Livin' in a gangsta's paradise
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me?
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me?
Amazing performance! What a great live show! I miss 90 😥
This song is a masterpiece that has withstood the test of time. This song still sounds as good today as the first time that I heard it, and I am convinced that it will sound just as good fifty years from now. This song was sung with such passion that one could not help but to be captivated from the very first note.
You'll never know why I got so many likes 😄😄😄

@@SomeoneHuman they did that a lot in 90’s music don’t trip 😂
thats golden age of song
Probably one of the best rap songs of not one of the best songs of all time. It was a big coop for Conan to get this man on his show and it speaks volumes about what the show was about. People make jokes about Coolio because of his luck and his funny attitude with his more lighthearted songs but the man was a true artist and even if he never surpassed gangsters Paradise that is more than most artist nowadays are ever able to achieve. Truly transformative and informative for the culture back then and it’s eerily poignant now. Rest in power

The ending .... chills
Loved this song since I was a kid ❤️ RIP Coolio
The very first rap I've ever heard as a grade schooler, and the only rap song that I know from start to finish off the top of my head, and in my mind is the best hip-hop/rap tune ever. Rest easy, Coolio. Thank you for the memories. Loved how you connected to the 90s kids by appearing on Nickelodeon, and getting slimed. That's probably one of your greatest traits.
With that hard body. Who wouldn't get slimed on purpose? Lmaooo
The backup vocals didn’t know they were going to be immortalized next to one of the greatest
I think they had some idea..😅
Humans (specially talented ones) can recognize greatness. The kids on the back vocals knew this performance was gonna be one of the greatest
This song hits so fucking hard... especially in this performance... you can tell by his performance here (and from the video and other performances) that the lyrics really hit home for him. This is easily one of the best songs ever made. RIP Artis Leon Ivey Jr, AKA Coolio.

RIP Coolio!!!!!! Pure talent, pure words of wisdom
This song is pure brillance. I never get tired of it.
Quede asombrado por esas voces.. pocos son capaces de hacer ese ofrecimiento en vivo a su público…. Grande COOLIO!!!!👏👏👏
Mas que todo se nota que no usa efecto ni playback
El coro es epico te pones la piel de gallina
This song can never be old ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤...
It’s 2023
We still talking about it
This song is such a masterpiece and a very powerful message. RIP, Coolio! 💔❤🙏🏻
yeah but we should know more Coolio songs besides this one
Coolio was on his early twenties (23) when he made this song. He was lyrical genius. Rest in peace legend
Make no mistake. Coolio was a straight up gangsta.
Absolutely Beyond genius
So he wrote the song in 86 and released it in 95? He was born in 63
He was 31
Back then I thought he was in his 20's but he was in his 30's. Almost a decade older than I thought. I was thinking he was born in the early 70's but he was born in the early 60's. Amazing to think this song could have came out in the 80's. I think the 90's was the best time. Not sure if this song would have worked in the 80's.
Прекрасная песня пару дней играет в голове.спасибо вам из России
At 3:30 imagine knowing how deep of a song you have created where u can sit down during the performance and close your eyes and let the music hit the soul
Rip
RIP In Paradise Cool One! ❤ I was never a Rap Fan....BUT....I will ALWAYS be a Coolio Fan! The Dude was Simply Genuine! Stay Strong Everyone!
*So many awesome memories from the 1990s and this song is one of them.* 😔😔😔
@@NandiCollector Yes Nandi...Agree 100 percent!
2:56 - 3:20 when he is taking off his glasses... you know he is feeling exactly what he is talking about. gives me the chill...one of the best social rap songs ever written. we will always be thankful for this masterpiece Coolio and LV.
2:58 that look in his eye. He was a crazy man. Crazy about his art. Crazy about his delivery. Crazy about his passion for music.

This is one great live performance. When he was at his peak I thought he was going to be at the top for a long time. Better to have shined brightly for a brief period than never to have shined at all. RIP he left us with some excellent tracks.
Just incredible talent. This song never dies & Coolio never dies in our hearts ❤️

He’s actually the leader of a gang in prison now. He sings in the choir there, too. Great guy!

This song still gives chills! RIP Coolio
i love this live version much more then official video, so much powerfull energy
100% one of the most iconic performances of one of the most iconic songs ever. RIP man. Taken too soon.
Honestly I am not fan of this kind of music, but this song is at another level, so simple very basic yet beautiful. and best of all, no autotune no voice enhancer and yet sounds terrific. Cannot stop listening to it.
Let me tell you the reason
The reason is LV
He owns the soul of this song, i really suggest you to listen to the LV version of this song, that one is better than this
In the hooks, he did everything that was needed
He maintained a sad melody
He maintained a serious lyrics
He maintained impactful vocals
He maintained every other thing that was needed to make this song legendary
Now, suppose all these things in one full song, LV gave everything he had to that song, he released a few albums after that but none of them touched the quality of that song
LV, in that song went as close to perfection as a man can go.
