I don’t feel this is a fair comparison. The Honda is a much newer design, the MK3 chassis is from 2012! I am a 2013 ST3 owner with 75K on my car. I love it don’t get me wrong but I find it hard to believe that I would chose my ST3 over this Honda Si. I was a 2006 Acura TL 6 Speed Manual owner for 10 years, 158K miles, and Honda’s are just really, really great. I will say this though. The shift linkage and clutch were fair stock. Only 4% of TL’s sold were manual and Honda never did a proper recall to fix the fucked up manual. Still that VTEC 3.2 was a hell of a motor.

    • @ADDwithJTC

I just bought my Si 3 weeks ago and there were plenty of Focus ST new for sale marked down to 20-21k.
In the end they were both slower than my wrx. The Si has a much better interior and gauges that make the car feel special. Plus the transmission and helical diff just felt a lot better. I didn’t really notice an acceleration difference and they’re pretty close regardless. Plus the Si blows it away in fuel efficiency and is the leader for residual value in its class.

The Focus ST feels like it was built for drivers by people with passion and enthusiasm for driving. The SI felt like it was built by bean counters.

I had both. St has a stronger motor stock. Sounds great. And yes the back seats were horrible for kids. My kids (3&4) had to get out side stepping and ducking because of the recaro seats curve farther back. Si seats are perfect. Overall the Si is overall well refined and gives a great driving experience and more daily friendly. ST youre always in racer mode cuz those recaros and positioning. Both great cars but the Si is more reliable and refined. More tech on the Si with sport mode. Good choice!

I get the feeling this car is really more about the intangibles. Can't say until Ive driven one though. If you consider the FiST is widely regarded as more fun to drive than the FoST, it starts to make more sense. The Si has only about 150lbs extra weight, but has an LSD and adaptive dampers that more than compensate.

I actually traded my 16 ST for an 18 Si. I loved my St and it was a great car but because of my job I put on 72k in 2 years and once I got past 65k miles I started running into issues. And it seemed to come one right after another. The second I fixed something something else started having issues. It got to the point to where if I turned off the car I wouldn't know if I'd turn back on. And because I was on the extended warranty at this point Ford would find a way to deny the claims on my completely stock ST. It was starting to turn into a money pit so I traded for an 18 Si. I'm happy with my choice and the si has been nothing but reliable! I do at times miss how much of a hooligan the ST was and I remember it fondly despite the way it ended. Both are great cars and I recommend ST's to those looking for cheap used cars because the depreciation on them are nuts. You can get a lot of car for mid to low teens!

I own this car and daily it (all stock) and I am a spirited driver and there is NO WAY he is getting 30 MPG driving 'spirited' - I get about 20-25 if I am lucky driving spirited around town - On HWY I can hit 30mpg NP and on road trips about 36-42mpg....but 30 while being spirited? Unless the tune has something to do with it, it's not possible...(unless he isn't driving as 'spirited' as he says lol) But def Si over an ST, I know the ST has more power but - on reliability alone, Honda will outshine the ST any day - let's see the ST get over 100K without a hiccup lol - His car looks great tho, I love the wheels and the blacked out head lights and tail lights!
