On July 22, 1970, when I watched this show on TV, I never dreamed I would be watching it again on July 22, 2023, on a computerized device on which I could watch it any time I wanted to! I was a student in a computer school at the time but never dreamed that computers would one day let me see such memories from my youth. Also, I never dreamed that "Sweet Caroline", which was a hit the previous year, would take on a new life and major international popularity in the 21st century.
This was so totally awesome! i have never seen this before. I was a senior in high school at the time. I have always loved Neil so much. He sings from the heart and soul. That was a really great show. LOVE YOU, NEIL.🥰🥰😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Neil Diamond is and was the really true master of all of them! Still is as he still not forgotten.. Oh I never get tiered of hearing him and his songs ever!
I’ve always liked his music but appreciate it more even now. He’s got it all- distinctive, dynamite voice, awesome songwriter & guitar player and was handsome as hell! - he still is for an older man 😊
Gadzooks! Bojangles... i didn't think i'd find a better version than Nitty Gritty Dirt Band! I loved this song when i was a kid because it talked about a dog lol i was too little to discern what it was really about. I was a little older and able to pay attention to the lyrics and of course it gutted me. This song was right up there with Old Shep!! both make me wanna cry lol especially the line "after twenty years he still grieves" ... yeah i can relate to that a whole lot. I wish we had more songs on the radio about good old dogs.
How great to watch Neil having so much fun!!😁 (didja catch his softshoe moves at the end of Mr Bojangles?!!) And what a thrill this must've been from him - Neil still, to this day, cites the Everly Brothers as one of his top three musical influences. Pure Gold!!! 😊🪙💛🏆🌟💎 (and Dang! He was CUTE!!! 😍🥰😘)
This was a fun presentation! I really enjoyed hearing Mr Bojangles!!! It's one of my old favorites and Mr Diamond performed with heart. Thank you for sharing online. Blessings
Times fly I remember coming from school in the school bus driver he always play all the songas of my platonic love , Neil Diamond, I was only 14 but he was my love 🤣 and he always be my chidren love his music.
Watching the Evs together with Neil Diamond is great ! They were and are still my hereos. Neil was already great and he still sounds like a musical master to me. Thank you for sharing this rare vidéo From France were Neil came back about 18 months ago to my great delight
I saw this show when it aired on July 22, 1970. I couldn't yet vouch for the excitement of his live performances yet because it was still 5 days before my first one - the first of many to come over the next 45 years. In this video, I prefer his joint performances with the Everly Brothers over his two solos.
Trivial, but cool: In the part of the show where they are all singing together they are all playing a Gibson 180 Everly Brothers model guitar! This wasn't just for show, as Neil used an Everly Brothers Gibson on most of his early hits and is seen in concert and in photos with it, and he played it on and off for many years throughout his career. The Everlys used Gibson SJ200s early on, but they are huge guitars and they asked Gibson for a slighly smaller version of the jumbo, and with double pickguards due to the aggressive strumming they incorporated in their playing, and Gibson modified the J185 and called it the J180 Everly Brothers model, which has been in and out of production over the decades since. (It's back in production for 2024 from Gibson's Custom Shop). Great guitar for these three amazing singers/guitar slingers! Thanks for posting this Kathleen!
So many great songs played on this one video. Bar Chords allowed me to play along on all of them. Mr. Bojangles (Key of C: C-Am-F-G), Sweet Caroline (Key of A: A-D-E-F#m), and Solitary Man (I already knew this song in open chords Key of G: Em-Am-G-C-D)...I said it before and I'll say it again, The Bar Chord is the single greatest musical invention ever....
Su voz es muy especial y rl como ser humano también es muy especial. Es un hombre que tiene los pies sobre la tierra.lo admiro y no me canso de escucharlo todos los días.y es xe mi generación soy de Argentina ❤
Excellent performance - too bad video quality wasn't better - these studios must have original video in vaults - would be really great to remaster these
Gosh this is Neil 💎 at his best. I was to young to remember this but I can tell you my mom was sure watching this. Love you always Neil. God bless you and the band. 🌹
superb performances from a young man who was then truly "cool", unlike the sad caricature of himself he became in kid later years when the cool young man became a clown seduced by the stadium concert screaming women... and lost the street cred he had here, which if he had kept it would have seen him ranked with Cohen, Dylan etc, rather than Perry Como and Andy Williams. so sad.
Neil outsold them all in album sales, concert sales and longevity - still touring - " cool " is how true you are to yourself - He said he was never " cool " just himself.

He brings every word & emotion to it’s full expression.
Beautiful performer.
The audience in attendance for this show got their money's worth, given the talent oozing from the stage. I wish I'd been there.
No other voice has that effect on me, on my skin, on my heart and on my soul ...
Neil Diamond is and was the really true master of all of them! Still is as he still not forgotten.. Oh I never get tiered of hearing him and his songs ever!
Wow!! The Everly Brothers and Neil Diamond. That’s a whole lot of incredible talent (and great hair!!) on one stage.
I’ve always liked his music but appreciate it more even now. He’s got it all- distinctive, dynamite voice, awesome songwriter & guitar player and was handsome as hell! - he still is for an older man 😊
Agree

One heck of a lot of talent on the stage that night.
That was so-o-o enjoyable, Kathleen. I have a smile on my face from ear to ear. I love seeing a young Neil, a special treat.

This song is a POEM. Neil Diamond perhaps the best interpreter of this magical song.
Great song and you singing it Neil❤😘
Thanks for posting. The Everly Bros was Neil's favorite group--his inspiration.
They were an even bigger inspiration to Simon & Garfunkel.

Rootbox - pre-cheesy? Explain please- you mean at the end of the song?

Es el único cantante que siente con el alma lo que canta lo amo 💘
Hermoso Neil. ❤❤❤❤
Not mentioned in the video's description, at 10:00 he also does a medley with the EBs of "I Got the Feelin'", "Solitary Man", & "Kentucky Woman".
funhistory wow, sorry these weren’t ever released, amazing live collaboration!
If I'm not mistaken, Neil is playing the guitar featured on the cover of "The Best Years Of Our Lives".
Gracias por subir los vídeos tan bien

this is the Neil era I like best, 1966-1971. Before the comb over, elvis/Wayne Newton sequined jumpsuit, arena crap
29 years old
This recording is not that great. This was very special. It was a fairly good year. Thanks for posting.
Pero guapo un jovencito ,qué bien canta , si me gusta mucho, muy bien Neil guapo

If we put Sweet Caroline as our ringtone... is that a Diamond ring?
😂good one 💍
Would love to see the entire show. Can you post?
Sorry - only have Neil's section!
Thank you for these uploads. Do you mind if I play with the audio of the Medley portion (re-mix the sound to Hi-Fi) and re-upload on my channel ?
+tenniscollector I have no copyright, ownership etc over this music! So it's up to you.
Didn't anyone bother to tune those guitars??
They remind me of Bill and Ted somehow.....
No.

Outsold them all.
Neil outsold them all in album sales, concert sales and longevity - still touring - " cool " is how true you are to yourself - He said he was never " cool " just himself.
Paul Cabral Beautifully said.
Dylan became a clown as well, with his laughable Christmas album. Never heard of Cohen though. Maybe he's famous in Israel.
Never heard of Leonard Cohen...lol! What planet are you from??
