Hadn't owned a bike in 10 years, saw a FortNine video last winter, now I have a mountain of cardboard boxes that say F9 on them and two motorcycles. Thanks?
this is one of the best helmet videos i've ever seen. Comparing helmets against each other really paints a picture about what's good or bad about a new lid. Sometimes you hardly notice these details until you bought the helmet and you're to late to change.
Thanks for the reviews Ryan. I was taken by the Scorpion EXO 1400 Carbon in this review when I first saw it. However, when out today I was looking for AGVs, being cheaper than a Shoei that I'd have gone for previously, and available in white. The AGVs had a scratchy feel on my forehead, like the hooked side of velcro, checking inside it appeared to be poor quality materials and fitting of the lining and I walked away. While getting my bike serviced else where I spotted the Scorpion and had a try, it felt plush, it felt like quality and although I wanted to move to a white helmet for visibility, I remembered your review and took the plunge. Around 350€ cheaper than the Shoei Raid 2 I was replacing and whilst only riding 70Km back home with it, I did not regret it, a pleasing helmet to look at and more importantly, wear, very comfortable, secure fitting visor, very little wind noise at 120Km/h and a D ring chin strap that so few newer helmets seem to have these days. Obviously I've not had it long enough to comment on anything else, but I think a great purchase has been made. Thank you :)
Just wanted you to know I appreciate the videos and appreciate the honesty in your videos it is nice to get a true in-depth review not a padded one for sales. Keep it up!
I finally made the time to watch this video. It has been hounding me for the last two days! Again you don't disappoint. Love the touch of humor at the end🤣
Arai came out with the air-bladder pump-up fit option in their helmets almost 25 yrs ago in their high-end options. Not sure why they stopped using it, but that was by far the best helmet I have ever owned.
I wanna know this as well. What I want in the package is an internal rain proof liner so I don’t have the outer bulky, smothering extra rain gear. And I want to know of a matching pair of pants for crash protection. No, I don’t want those ugly riding jeans with knee pads. I like gear that is fast and easy to put on.
The Icon latch looks a lot like what my long-gone 2004 Arai had. I'm glad to see the adjustable Pinlock pins return; some early shields made by Pinlock, because the manufacturers weren't doing that yet a decade ago, had that feature.
Happy to see the love for ratchet straps in the comments. Also, I almost made the mistake of clicking away in the last 20 seconds. You are a true artist, my man. Keep up the good work!
I've had the Shoei GT Air 2 for a couple months/1,500 miles, here are a couple observations: yes, it's $200 more than the Scorpion. The key thing for me is the integrated sunshield, which works superbly and stays where you put it, no bounce like on some others. Being able to get the sunshield in a full face instead of a modular really appealed to me. I've ridden in 35 degrees with it, there are no issues with cold from the back vents as long as the top vent is closed. This is the first ratchet strap I've had and it's so much faster to get on & off, even with gloves on. No comfort issues with it. Some say the Shoei is noisy, but I always wear ear plugs so I couldn't tell you. I don't use any audio system, that wasn't a factor in my purchase. $600 is a lot of coin for a lid, but I intend to keep it for 5 years, so it's not exorbitant. The eye port is large, the morning & evening sun on a commute is right in my face, so I need a little strip of vinyl on the top of the face shield to act as a visor to block it. Otherwise I'm happy with the experience so far. Each person must decide if it's worth the price.THANKS or a great video!
Your still the best honest reviewer, save us from being disappointed pointing out annoying things that can make us regret spending our hard eared cash, guys like you make companies improve their designs, excellent as always
Alright, this is the second of your videos that I've seen. I'm a fan now for sure. Well done. Video quality is fantastic and you're entertaining as hell. Keep it up.
This is one of the best channels on TH-cam. I'm not even considering getting a new helmet but I was anxious to get home and watch the new video. Keep it up
Amazing video as always....... But I disagree with cardo over Sena. I gave up on cardio when they gave up on customer service. My Sena connects faster to Bluetooth and to the other communicator in my group and the customer service has been excellent. Slimmer and higher quality overall! Never drops comms with the other unit and excellent clarity with the speakers. I’ve used both over many years and definitely recommend the Sena!
I own if you are looking at buying one i can recomend it its light , looks good , quiet , fits great, and it doesn't cost you your monthly salary. i haven't crash tested it thank god 🤪 the only thing i can pick on is the sun visor and normal visor they feel a bit clunky but are still going strong after 1 year of everyday use and in europ you get a free tinted visor in the box instead of the clear one
@@rafa_olpa they installed mine in the shop where i bought it but it should seal perfectly maybe its not exactly installed in the middel just a bit of to the side
All great helmets. I just picked up an ST1400, and absolutely love it. It's an unbelievably good helmet. I rock an Eliminator when I want to look like a badass, and my wife loves her Airform.
Nice review Ryan, I'm super happy with your conclusion as earlier today I bought the Scorpion EXO-ST1400 in glossy carbon, this was prior to viewing this video too. My EXO-ST1400 came with two visors, as you suggested they do, however one of them is a blacked out daytime visor & the other a clear one. Perhaps this is due to the fact I'm located in Europe (in North America you guys have some iffy laws regarding darkened visors, do you not?). In any case, I can strongly attest to the comfort factor of the helmet and the fantastic AirFit system, as well as a the external sliding switch that engages & disengages the built-in retractable sun visor. Not only is it the best looking helmet I've ever owned, it's the most comfortable, the best built, and with PinLock 70's attached to both the tinted & clear visors it's arguably the most versatile. My Scorpion EXO-ST1400 however weighs 1330grams, seemingly 110grams lighter than the weight you quoted - I'm not sure if it was a typo on your part or whether your version of the Scorpion EXO-ST1400 is indeed slightly heavier. Would be great to see you assess the airbag vests on offer Ryan. I also bought one of those today, I decided to go for the Hit Air MLV-RC over-vest motorcycle airbag as I already own jackets and one-piece suits and as such I needed something that could be worn over the top of whatever gear I happen to be wearing on a given day. Hit Air are Japanese made, they're reusable via a simple replacement CO2 canister costing €19, and from my research and anecdotal evidence that company appeared to offer the best product for my use case. Would be fantastic to see a FortNine motorcycle airbag vest & jacket review and comparison, testing the two categories, vests vs vests & jackets vs jackets. All the best ✌
Certainly not the clever witted humorous cinema that I’ve grown accustomed to but Damn Good Stuff. After writing this comment I’m going back for seconds and maybe even thirds because the information is that important to me. Man, this is something to really sink your teeth into. Great job.
In Europe you can order GT Air 2 with DD strap for extra 80$. The pinlock pins are adjustable in Shoei, Shuberth, Arai and many other brands since forever. But great video as usual!
“Most of us cling on the double D rings like horny teenagers”... I don’t know who writes this stuff but it’s hilarious. This is why I think this channel is hands down one of the best motorcycle channels on TH-cam, clever funny writing and damn entertaining, on top of being very informative. Nice job as always :)
I have been wearing the AGV K1 for 6 months and I have to say , its for sure value for money. The padding is extremelly soft, it has ready inputs for a telecom device, the noice isolation is very good even at high speeds and it isn't as heavy as one would expect. One drawback is the chin vents... With winter gloves it's almost imbosible to open or close them. Besides that , it's a beautiful, not only for it's price range, comfortable and quiet helmet.
The GT-Air 2 came out. Which means I could now buy a replacement GT-air 1 for a great price. Win! The old Air comes with a ratchet strap as standard in europe though too.
I have the old GT Air. My first helmet. Good, quiet helmet. Very comfortable. I actually have no complaints about it at all really. I bought a Bell Bullitt for some street summer riding, but in winter the GT Air is my go-to. And yes, ratchet strap in Europe.
Mike W - I don’t doubt that Scorpion makes excellent helmets and the EXO 1400 is a great alternative. I have owned a scorpion in the past. But the Shoei most likely just saved my life just a few months ago. So I decided to give credit where credit is deserved and got myself a replacement of the same kind. Next time I might see what the market has to offer at that time.
I love your channel. Great content! I moved to helmets with ratchet straps and haven't looked back. Super easy and fast to open and close, even with gloves. I don't have any comfort issues. Maybe worth another look!
Love your sarcastic comments dude...can I have a sarcastic review of Royal Enfield Himalayan ...would really love to hear from you what you think about the motorcycle
Yea me too. I have been watching this motorcycle for a inexpensive all-a-rounder. Would love to see what Ryan can make it or break it for those of us interested. As always fun informative video. Thank you.
Duuuudeee I been working with shoei helmets for over a year and I love them but when the 1400 came out as a budget friendly helmet I was surprised and impressed go check one out you'll love it
@@nathanbardin2639 Thanks Nathan, I will definitely do that. By the way, do you (or anyone else) know the difference between Scorpion EXO-ST1400 and EXO-1400? I assume the ST-version is newer but I haven't found any other differences yet.
@@nathanbardin2639 - I just wanted to let you, and everyone else reading this, know that I spoke to a Swedish retailer about the differences between the ST/non ST-models and they told me that they are meant for different markets. ST is for the US which requires a DOT-certification, and that means that the shell needs to be thicker among some other things compared to the non ST-model. So the model is basically the same, but has been adjusted for different laws/regulations depending on where it will be sold. I live in Sweden and will follow through with a purchase of the EXO-1400 helmet soon and I'm really looking forward to test it out. =)
Been waiting for someone trustworthy to give an opinion on the Scorpion EXO-ST1400. I bought a first gen Scorpion right after they cam on the market and a second gen, I liked them both but they were quite loud compared to my Shoei GT Air. However, my GT-Air always had a high pitch whistle when I turned my head for lane checks or when riding in strong cross winds. Combine that with what they did to try and make you buy their Sena Comm system, and I all but decided on an RF 1200. But the ST1400 I think will be the better choice even if it's a little louder. Great video content as always.
Insightful, fun look into the newest trends in helmet tech and quite a surprise coming from Nolan who I always thought was more of a D class maker - this offering looks good and worth examining. As always really well-done vids by you and your team!
I ride my road king wearing an N44. I look like a dork but it is bar none the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned. The versatility is unreal going from a Full face with full chin guard to an open 3/4 helmet with no screen or visor. I love it.
Expect every motovlogger channel to have a helmet review within 14 days. They all follow Ryan on gear vids. Cudos: yours are the best produced. Notice you don't obsess over SNELL ratings anymore on these as most have sun shields and therefore only pass DOT build regs, like a Harley skull cap or cop bucket. You do gravitate to Scorpion, and I see the lightning S on your head in many bike rides. They are China buckets, but they have come up in the world. Their cheek pads with emergency removal were what sold me. They are loud. Those empty ear cups (for future speakers) are the BIG reason for the echo amplifier. If not installing speakers, just cut some closed cell foam marine/kayak shop and stick that in. Killed 90% of the noise in mine. I glued animal fur to one side of the foam and flip them over in winter. Yes, I'm a savage. Good review. I would welcome the double pane shield on all helmets and replacement shields. The honeycomb replacing the igloo eps is intriguing.
Awesome review vid. Pacy, to the point, detailed, informative, surprising, original and at times eye-wateringly hilarious. Everything we’ve come to expect from FortNine in other words!
Just make yourself more visible. Your helmet is usually the first thing people see. I've been riding a black bike for years but my helmet and jacket are mostly white, with black designs. Haven't had any issues with being spotted.
I have to agree with your comments on the Shoei GT Air II. When my partner and I need to replace our aging GT Airs we both looked at the all new GT Air 2. I managed to talk her out of it for the same reasons you mention here. Old discounted stock of the GT Airs we had come to love were still available, albeit in less fancy colour schemes or choices the new range has. And I'll keep my double D rings thanks 👍
My Airform came with a nice bag and two face shields (Clear and the dark one), it fits my head perfect and the flip down visor will still work with my glasses. Also, $125 new. You are right about the graphics. I love it.
Great video; thanks. Nothing by Arai or HJC made the cut, eh? HJC CL-17 seems like a solid value, to me. 0:36 - 1440 gr = 3.17 lbs. 2:50 - Also, ratchet straps don't work with helmet locks 3:30 - Scorpion also doesn't have the big, obnoxious branding 4:44 - 1625 gr. = 3.58 lbs. 7:25 - Magnetic lock on the Klim helmet will also probably not work with bikes' helmet locks; the ring's too narrow. 10:29 - 1800 gr. = 3.97 lbs.
Honestly the HJC seem to have the best helmets for the price out of any company. Their gasket on the front is a robust design. I have an old HJC that is 20 years old and the face shield seals up tight against the gasket still. The $180 HJC C70 is the same helmet as a $600 Shoei. The HJC are not any louder internally than a Shoei, although the screws and visor assembly are probably not as well made on the cheaper HJC's, but that's about it.
I haven't even gotten near a ratchet strap. Helmets are so expensive, it's like watching videos about Ferrari's and Porches. I went with a Sedici Strada II. It has every feature of a $1200 helmet, but costs $350. It is made out of fiberglass and kevlar too.
Yeah I like the fact that he actually knows what he's talking about and does some research, sometimes in short supply on TH-cam... the dry humor is a also a plus.
Another top vid there Ryan. Double glazing for visors.. WOW.. ten years or more ago I and probably thousands of others thought of that, it's so obvious! Jeez, ride safe. Cheers Wayne

That Scorpion helmet seems real neat.. I'm going to look into it as my Shoei Neotec is waaay too loud.
@@SweDownhill usually the st almost always stands for sport touring so they prob have a more sporty model and a touring model
Oh word I thought st wouldve been for sport touring that's still pretty cool tho right on dude
Scorpion makes great helmets.
Insightful, fun look into the newest trends in helmet tech and quite a surprise coming from Nolan who I always thought was more of a D class maker - this offering looks good and worth examining. As always really well-done vids by you and your team!
Great video, I’m probably a bit late but could you do a crash test on the AGV Veloce S? Big fan of the reviews and i take your word as gospel.
Bell Eliminator for the WIN! Extremely lightweight and durable helmet........very comfortable too.
I was expecting Shark helmets, they're great value too
They attract mosquitoes. Ask Jorge Lorenzo.

Love his unbiased reviews, no bs...just the truth
Love my agv k1. Very stable at high speeds. Very affordable trackday helmet. Thanks for the content.
I ride my road king wearing an N44. I look like a dork but it is bar none the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned. The versatility is unreal going from a Full face with full chin guard to an open 3/4 helmet with no screen or visor. I love it.
I have the avg k1 and I love it would definitely recommend.
AGV K1 ......correction!
That's a tongue lever on the AGV! 😂🙌🔰
For her pleasure...
Awesome review vid. Pacy, to the point, detailed, informative, surprising, original and at times eye-wateringly hilarious. Everything we’ve come to expect from FortNine in other words!
10:45 I wish I could get this in red.
I wish I could find a decent selection of gear in person, I can actually see before buying.
Brilliant review, I’ve just ordered the N70-2 as it meets road and adventure. Thanks
Would love if you guys could do a video on how to make a black bike more visible without making too many sacrifices on the aesthetics
Yussss
Been waiting for this.
Thanks.
My Airform came with a nice bag and two face shields (Clear and the dark one), it fits my head perfect and the flip down visor will still work with my glasses. Also, $125 new. You are right about the graphics. I love it.
The first helmet was so good there were no funny insults.
INCONCEIVIBLE
Great video; thanks. Nothing by Arai or HJC made the cut, eh? HJC CL-17 seems like a solid value, to me.
0:36 - 1440 gr = 3.17 lbs.
2:50 - Also, ratchet straps don't work with helmet locks
3:30 - Scorpion also doesn't have the big, obnoxious branding
4:44 - 1625 gr. = 3.58 lbs.
7:25 - Magnetic lock on the Klim helmet will also probably not work with bikes' helmet locks; the ring's too narrow.
10:29 - 1800 gr. = 3.97 lbs.
I love ‘ratchet strap’ so much (is that the terminology ?) .., that I would never buy a helmet again that doesn’t feature it!
same here.
Another classic installment.
Should have included the hjc arpha 70st in this. :-)
Exactly cant talk about sport touring helmets without mentioning the RPHA 70 ST. Love mine.
Jeremy baker love mine too.
Not in the market for a helmet, but I love this channel so much I watched anyway, and was not disappointed
Screw the double D rings and my double chin be damned; I like the ratchet chin strap.
Your playing a dangerous game
I haven't even gotten near a ratchet strap. Helmets are so expensive, it's like watching videos about Ferrari's and Porches. I went with a Sedici Strada II. It has every feature of a $1200 helmet, but costs $350. It is made out of fiberglass and kevlar too.
Got the Scorpion some months ago and can't be happier.
Much lighter than my last Arai. I've been an Arai guy all my life and this is a WOW helmet.
am i the only one that finds it so hilarious when he twirls around in a chair to demo something instead of having a revolving camera.
Kid, you're in your element, you've got charisma, good job!
BTW- Tire video helped me!
Yeah I like the fact that he actually knows what he's talking about and does some research, sometimes in short supply on TH-cam... the dry humor is a also a plus.
am i miising something... haven't we talked about DOT before?
Was thinking the same
like DOT means nothing?
@@dixoncider7256 DOT is shit basically
Another top vid there Ryan. Double glazing for visors.. WOW.. ten years or more ago I and probably thousands of others thought of that, it's so obvious! Jeez, ride safe. Cheers Wayne
A magnetic closing chin strap? Oh hell no! I'll cling to the double D's.
Why? The magnetic chin straps pass all of the same DOT tests as the D straps so other than being stubborn there is no reason to stick with d rings.
Legitimately the best gear reviewer!
