It has always been common knowledge that MJ kept Isiah from the Dream Team. Forget what is said in the documentary. The whole 10 episode documentary depicted a vindictive, very talented champion that would keep you off of Dream Teams. He wouldn’t let his own teammate have dinner because he didn’t play well. He punched Will Purdue in the eye. What do you think he would do to one of his enemies like Isiah?

A recording of him surfacing now that’s consistent with that conversation doesn’t change that. Everyone was talking about this when the Dream Team was formed and no one saw Isiah on the list.

It was common knowledge that Jordan wouldn't have played if Isaiah was on the team. That's different from saying Jordan kept Isaiah off the team. He forced the committee to choose between him and Isaiah. They chose him.

I think MJ feels like he didn't have anything to do with it because when he expressed to them that he wouldn't play with Isiah, he was told "don't worry about it, we've already decided not to include him". So yes technically he didn't cut Isiah from the team but....at the end of the day, he was cut because they knew MJ wouldn't want him there. And if you have to choose between MJ and Isiah, the choice is clear.

From a marketing standpoint yes, it’s Michael. However, from a basketball perspective, Isiah was a notch below Jordan just like everyone else. If Michael wasn’t on the team and Isiah was the results would have been the same. You forget. Isiah and his Pistons beat prime, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. Isiah holds a 36-29 win/loss against Michael and the Bulls. So, I really don’t agree with your assessment.
So let me guess if LeBron said he didn’t want KD or Steph Curry on TEAM USA, he would have the right to say that as well or is it just another Jordan thing?

Jordan didn't lie though. He said he played no part in Isiah Thomas not being named to the Dream Team. The audio clip has him saying "if Isiah is on the team, I'm not." And him being told that "Chuck (Daly) wasn't putting him on the team anyways", meaning the decision to leave him off was already made BEFORE Jordan made that call. In other words, HE PLAYED NO PART IN ISIAH THOMAS BEING LEFT OFF THE DREAM TEAM. Get it?

At which point it also says that Jordan was told that Chuck, as in Chuck Daly, wasn't putting Isiah on the team anyways, meaning that the decision to leave him off BEFORE JORDAN MADE THE CALL. In other words, Michael Jordan played no part in Isiah Thomas being left off the Dream Team. It was already decided before Jordan gave any input. So where's the lie?

MJ could have simply said the truth, but to be fair, this is how it is with any team scenario... whether sport or employment... nobody goes for people who they believe may be a disturbing influence on that team. So it's hardly a bad thing for players to speak up on other players they believed to be bad for the team in that regard. An employer would do the same and judge whether they want a disturbance within their company or not.

Everyone here comparing an alleged lock out in a rookies first all star game to a legacy building opportunity for a player who earned a right to play for the dream team through his record as a player are clearly biased. The 2 do not compare. Jordan's done worse freeze out like actions toward his own teammates. Disregarding the fact that the all star game freeze out is really alleged and not absolute fact...it isn't uncommon for the freshman/rookie new comer to get that type of treatment. But to enact some revenge 6/7 whole years later by saying to the team creators "If you want me...you can't have him"...because of that...that is ill vindictive and overkill. Someone like Mike who apparently is all about hard work and reward above all...you'd think that he'd say "I don't like him but he deserves to play on this once in a lifetime creation". When Rod Thorn referred to Barkley, he wasn’t deferring to Barkley, but rather implying that others don’t want him on the team either. At the end of the day, Rod Thorn is as shady as one can get.
