Not arguing who was better, but Stockton was the better fit in a team full of scorers. Of course racial thing will make this be bias. Jordan was my favorite player.
Anyway, Stockton # 1 passer , great 3 pt. shooter and tops in steals & surprisingly tough.
There was a certain NBA Dream team that had a bunch of scorers, yet got eliminated. There are many top scoring teams that got swept in the NBA.
And when Isiah Pistons beat the Bulls, not only were the Bulls still inexperienced, but the Pistons surrounded Isiah with more than just scorers. They had a tough defensive team, that protected Isiah Thomas, just like how the Denver Nuggets were almost built perfectly around Iverson, cause they had defense and great rebounding. Sometimes a team is one player away from a championship.
No way Jordan wins without Horace Grant, and then Dennis Rodman.
Kyrie Irving is a great scorer, but ain't winning a Championship without the right team. Lebron James, and Kevin Love were a great fit for him when they won.
Teams needs more than just scorers, defense, passing and IQ is underestimated! You can score, but can you stop someone else from scoring? It takes a whole lot of more energy to do both ‼️

      People read history backwards, too.
Isaiah was at the end of his career, coming off injuries.
Stockton was just starting his and consecutively was breaking PG records like every year, it was crazy.
People say "but Stockton never got any rings" -- in 1992, no one knew how his career would turn out. He was just a young promising PG who put like two 20-20 game on Magic in the playoffs.
The "controversy" is entirely invented and wasn't a controversy in the 90's when people began to retrospectively look back on both players careers.

People remember the Pistons were labeled "Bad Boys" and they confirmed that title when they lost to the Bulls and ran off the court without shaking their hands. I remember the embarrassment on the Bulls faces, especially Jordan's. But we all know Karma eventually shows up. Isaiah was worried when the team was being assembled and reached out to Magic who sadly confessed the selection process was out of his hands, leaving Isaiah feeling some resentment towards Magic. The last thing the team needed was negative energy between Isaiah and Michael. In the early stages when he was approached, Michael asked who was on the team, and after Magic and Larry agreed he said I'm in, as long as Isaiah was not!!!!! I think Isaiah's elimination from the Dream Team haunts him even today. Lesson learned, be nice and always professional 😊

Not to mention that I’m sure the league/David Stern hated them, and did not want any member of that team (outside of the coach) to be an “American ambassador of the game.” The Bad Boy 30 for 30 even shows how they felt like they were the villains, yet everyone wants to sit around now and wonder how Isiah didn’t get to play with 11 other NBA players whom he competed against.

@WingmanZ22 Nah the Bulls beat them and embarrassed them and Thomas walked off without showing them their respect that Jordan and the Bulls had shown the Pistons before. I think Jordan's over it now, but he never will really be okay with the disrespect that he felt Thomas showed him.

From time to time! the 80s was physical started by the 84 boston celtics who shocked the lakers in the finals with a stunning comback championship win. something dirty was did behind close doors to keep zeke off the dream team and its been covered up.

@@cediep0tp0t32 thank you 🙏this was the reason behind the ‘92 dream team, David Stern put together, not just greatness, but true NBA “Ambassadors” that would grow fans and revenue for the game overseas, this was truly the beginning of the NBA going Global, and from this the league gained an influx of some of the greatest players from foreign countries over the years that were inspired by the ‘92 Olympic Team , so i believe Stern’s plan worked pretty well 🙂

Isiah had a habit of insulting people (with a big smile on his face) - including Jordan, Magic, and Bird. Isiah was the leader of the team that made the dirtiest plays in the history of the NBA. Laimbeer, Mahorn, & Rodman were enforcers, but Isiah approved everything they did. Chuck Daly was not dumb! He knew that the Pistons had made a lot of enemies; if he expected unity on the team, it had to be without Isiah....Besides, they didn't need another scorer/one on one player. Stockton, the leader in assists and steals, was a better fit.
