Still use mine in 2020! But not as my daily driver anymore sadly. Those duties went to my pixel 3a XL as of May of 2019. My Nexus 6 is suffering from an old battery so was forced to upgrade. I still use it to watch movies (crispy AMOLED 16x9 aspect ratio screen & those loud front facing speakers tho!), TH-cam, football games via the NFL app, & as my tv remote via my home wifi. It streams video excellent to this day! Even has wifi MU-MIMO 802.11ac which is so underrated on this Snapdragon 805 soc! Currently running Lineage OS 16 with Popcorn Kernel. At times it can bog down with memory intensive apps or too many apps open in the background. The memory management on Popcorn kernel helps..but only so much. The weak battery affects its speed somehow which I've noticed especially when it gets warm so I'll be changing that soon. The Nexus 6 can serve as decent temporary backup phone while you wait on another one if necessary for example insurance replacements, warranty exchanges, or a repair service being done on a newer device. I would not recommend buying one in 2020 as a daily driver tbh. But as an entertainment device it works fantastic!

Inherited my Nexus 6 from my son in 2016 and it's still 👍 in 2021. Couldn't do without it. Took me an afternoon to replace the battery last year and now the phone is as good as new! This phone is a GIANT.
The high end processors for 2015 were the 808 and 810 not the 805 which is from 2014. The first pixel from 2016 used the snapdragon 821 and not the 820.
I am using it as a secondary phone after flashing the Lineage OS 16 and the heating problem is no more .. but yes as a primary phone I am too using a oneplus 7T
QHD 6" screen, front firing speakers, a decent camera and a great processor running the best software during it's time, this phone was such a beast. Probably the most underrated Nexus device and one of the best phones made by Google so far
still have my nexus 6 with lineage 17.1 it has a snappy android 10 so upto date software wise , with either mega equaliser or viper you get a real loud stereo phone , also with the app color control you can tweak the screen to look great and for a 6 year old phone it still keeps going on.
I have mine on 17.1 as well, but it's succumbed to a wireless charger. None of the ports work and the battery is going bad. Luckily I have a OnePlus 7 Pro as my daily driver.
My mom is using this phone and she's very happy. I took some photos with it and HDR+ performance was pretty slow but result was amazing. love this phone.
I personally like bezels. They just sort of have a strangely nice aesthetic to me, and I like them to rest my thumbs on when I'm holding my device upright, they keep me from accidentaly tapping something on the screen.
I as well. I think when bezels are eliminated entirely, I'll just add some of my own. Bezels have a strangely nice aesthetic to me, and they're a nice place to rest my thumbs when I'm holding my device upright.
The Shamu which I still have is my 4th oldest phone I have. And my kids use it on the weekends when I have them. They use it mainly just to watch TH-cam Kids, and of course for that content it works fine. BUT, as Zach said in his video... Even my kids complain about the short battery life. Yet again, for that use it does the job. When I bought it new I LOVED that device! Good video Zach!!
i still use Nexus 6 as my second phone, already flash a custom rom running Android 9 Pie. A lot of restoration i did to it and i still love it. Now I'm using Mi A3 as my daily driver...
I'm still using my Nexus 6 in 2020 that I purchased in 2015 brand new on Amazon and don't plan on getting rid of it. I love the size and feel of the phone. In fact I purchased an OEM Motorola N6 battery on Ebay. This phone is like the Energizer bunny, it keeps going and going and going. It's still running Android 7 and I'm thinking of maybe dropping LineageOS 17.1 but I haven't decided as the phone still does what I want. The only phone I'm seriously considering is the P4a.
I'm watching this video on the Nexus 6 phone. It's Superior to my Samsung a50 (2019) for video and audio. Typing in this wide screen is a joy. Even though the Nexus 6 is 5.94 inches and my Samsung a50 is 6.4 inches, do to the aspect ratio that gives a wider screen, the phone's screen is much bigger. When you watch a video especially in vertical position you can see the video in a much larger size. Had I known, I would have gone for an even bigger phone that the 6.4 inch one I got! Because going from a nexus 6 screen to the Samsung A50 certainly felt like a huge DOWNGRADE! Even though I have replaced the battery, it just uses too much battery and if it has too many apps installed it starts lagging. I don't use it as my daily driver but I love this phone... And I do use it to watch TH-cam videos from time to time. I have uninstalled any extra apps that I might not need.
I picked up one of those phones in 2017 and it was the phone that introduced me to Android custom ROMs. I still have it today in case I ever need a backup device!
I got all nostalgic today and decided to replace the screen of my old, shattered nexus 6. Great vid, reminded me of how much I used to love this device.
One cool thing about this phone is that it could shoot in 4K. This was back before most phones could do that. Although I heard the phone itself didn’t have a 4K screen.
Well I'm still using this phone as my daily driver but omg the overheating and battery drain is a real problem but the phone is still great tho a new battery will get the job done plus I wanna upgrade to a Samsung Galaxy m30s now that phone is a beast.
That was my dream phone that never made its way to Brazil . our last Nexus phone here was LG's prior to the Motorola Nexus ,which I of course owned one .
Mine has served me well since 2015. The notification bar and navigation buttons have burned in pretty bad, the battery can't last half a day of use, let alone a full one, the screen has scratches, the paint on the metal frame is chipping, the plastic back is loose in places, the speakers make a chirping noise when the battery is below 50% and the device sometimes shuts off randomly when it gets anywhere below 40, it overheats easily, it stutters with even mildly demanding apps, the UI is ugly without a third-party launcher, the camera is average and clunky, and it's hard to get by on 32 gigs of non-expandable storage without relying on the cloud. There are other issues I can mention, but I love this phone despite its age. I think design-wise it looks as good, or better than a lot of phones that came out after it, and with a launcher or custom ROM and a battery replacement I can see myself still using it into 2020. That probably won't be the case, as I intend to replace it with either a OnePlus device or a ROG phone if they can manage to give it some water resistance, but I'll never sell my Nexus.
Still using it. On my 2nd replacement screen and 1st replacement battery. No plans to stop. I am a "power user" and use this phone for work. I frequently have at least 3 messaging apps going, gmail, outlook, Ring central, salesforce and who knows what else running. It does fine. The dude in the video says you couldn't use this a daily driver? Yeah, ok kid... Wireless charging works great, not finicky. Headphone jack - use it every single day with my wired Jabra headset - I spend several hours a day on call with this phone. Quick charge works great. Anyway - yes of course there are better phones, but, this phone kicks butt - it did in 2014 and does now. It is FAR better than many new phones you can buy right now under $400.
i loved my Nexus 6, the huge screen and those front firing speakers....it was awesome. i definitely couldn't use it as a daily today, the camera and battery life (as mentioned) were never outstanding and it would just seem so slow compared to my Note 10 plus and iphone 11 pro max. still it will always be one of my favorites.
I am still rocking this phone. Pixel experience 9.0 pie ROM. This phone wireless changing, front facing speaker. Still thinking of getting a pixel 4 or waiting for 5. There have been some android 10 ROMs released for this thing!
I loved that phone so much, although it was one of the only ones I've ever cracked. Such a turning point for Android phones with material design and large screens and just before Google's lineup stopped being the "developer" phone and they pivoted to the premium
Nexus 5 was my favorite device loved the design and the stock Android. Have great memories with that phone sadly it died on me. I had the red version. I still have my Nexus 6 though it's rooted and it's using a custom rom.
@Zachary Anderson In 2014, the #Nexus6 was a #Beast !! Now in 2021, it's now a #Kraken ! Installed and running *smoothly* a Custom ROM #LineageOS #Android11 with April 1, 2021 security update. I did replace the battery 🔋 though after years of use. Now it's back to 100% health 💪🏼 ...
This phone and the Huawei Mate 9 I had for a while were two of my favorite phones. Excellent for watching videos on the go. Makes me actually miss the 16:9 screen ratio.
Back in early 2017, I was looking for a low cost, feature packed replacement for a grossly overloaded budget phone... It had come to either this, or a Moto X Pure... Luckily, I was able to finance a new flagship (HTC 10) through a carrier... I would have probably chose the X Pure, as the NX5 looked too large...
It was pretty good. I destroyed my note 4 and bought it as a holdover. It has great speakers, so it’s often my shower speaker because it holds up really well in water. I’ve gotten it soggy. But, it’s gets horrible when the juice runs down. Also, it’s loud and makes a great alarm.
Well was given a Nexus 6 with broken USB port and poor battery . All replaced and even put new mid frame on it for under £30 upgraded to Android 7 works great for me. Might put it over to lineage but hey still works great!!!!.
Wow find buddy. I'm using this as my only phone (from India) for last 5 years with upgraded OS, Thanks to Lineage. I'm still not satisfied with other phones other than battery life. Hat's off. Great to see your video buddy.
The phone on the thumbnail looked really familiar - turns out my Moto X2 has a chunkier brother! Still finding it hard to switch from this phone, it's still chugging along fantastically. Switching to a Custom ROM definitely breathed fresh life into it.
This thing was so cool! Comfortable in the pocket because of the shape and it was like having a tablet in your pocket. If a new nexus 6 came out with a 2019 7 inch edge to edge screen, I would snap one up in a second.
This phone was AMAZING to own back in the day. The screen was soooo unreal and the speakers for music. Jesus. What a treat this was. I'd still have mine but someone stole it.
Also I had a theory that my Nexus 6 even had a better camera than my v40 and this proves it. LGs sharpening software mixed with their poor hdr is a nightmare. But I sure don't miss that front camera.
The Motorola Nexus 6 is still my favorite smartphone of all time. I bought mine a year after it came out and I used it as my daily driver for about 3 years including for photography (Dec 2015 to Nov 2018). Good camera, Good screen, okay battery. What a beast of a smartphone. Now I rock a Google Pixel 3 XL (won off Android Authority).
Honestly, I've been using old flagship's since the start of 2019. I had a Lumia 930, Xperia Z2, iPhone 5s, Galaxy S6 Edge, and currently I'm on Galaxy Alpha. Looking at how technology progressed, I'm quite surprised that every single one of phones I listed, are still usable in 2019. I mean, sure, they have some downs, and for a teenager using a lot of social media, they aren't the best choice, but still, it's very surprising that they can be used as a daily driver after so many years. The worst thing in those old phones is software. An old, pretty buggy TouchWiz on Galaxy Alpha is going to drive me crazy in a couple of months if I won't install a custom rom on it, but after that, it's still a great phone. If someone is looking to buy one of those phones, I can answer some questions if anyone wants that.
Comparing a stock Nexus 6 with a Custom Rom Nexus 6 of which the user takes DNG photos and edits them on Lightroom is like talking about two totally different devices altogether. Sure, battery life was still kinda bad but I remember seeing such a difference with a custom rom that I wished for a worthy successor; the 6P was not what I wished for and the Pixel 2 was too late (and too expensive I might add). Easily one of my favourite devices I've ever used.
3 days ago my moto g7 came in the mail finally retiring this phone from my pocket. I will always keep it and find other uses, but still to this day i love holding this phone
Damn, what a phone! Guess what? I’m still using it... in 2020!! Bought for Christmas 2014, and still usable on 2020. I’ve personally replace only two months ago the battery, and nothing else... Motorola best phone producer ever!
Still have my Nexus 6 in the drawer. Was wanting to use it as a toy but the phone just shuts off by itself sometimes and the battery life is horrible. Would replacing the battery fix all issues?
It is not the more memorable Nexus, but it was a nice phone. I think the price was way to high compared to the Nexus 4 and 5, and the device was not that much better. At the time I kept my Nexus 5, with the Android 5 update it felt like a brand new phone.
If there was a in depth speed test between the Nexus 6 and the Galaxy Note 9, I'd consider buying the Nexus 6 again if it did well enough but I remember it just having terrible battery :(( but everything else I absolutely loved. What a great phone, I miss it
I still have mine put away. I was an ANdroid user all the way. Installing different Rom’s and everything. After HTC failed to make phone’s like they used to, I switched to the nexus 6. Loves the size and dual speakers. Then software support ended. I really dislike curved phones so what did I do? I switched to apple 🤷♂️ and haven’t been disappointed. All you android fans is there a Rom you suggest for this phone. When there is an android with dual speakers and really stands out, I will certainly switch back!!! Can you break me from the apple ecosystem???

Still using my nexus 6 daily till this day with a custom rom. I'm happy with it, and big bezels were never an issue for me.
The bezels were actually smaller than most until around 2017.
Because it was expensive and people were used to cheap Nexus.
Camera was not great 🙄
still have my nexus 6 with lineage 17.1 it has a snappy android 10 so upto date software wise , with either mega equaliser or viper you get a real loud stereo phone , also with the app color control you can tweak the screen to look great and for a 6 year old phone it still keeps going on.
I have mine on 17.1 as well, but it's succumbed to a wireless charger. None of the ports work and the battery is going bad. Luckily I have a OnePlus 7 Pro as my daily driver.
I'm still using it as daily driver.. but battery now sucks
My mom is using this phone and she's very happy. I took some photos with it and HDR+ performance was pretty slow but result was amazing. love this phone.
Well... pixel 4’s forehead is also way bigger than the chin so, I guess google hasn’t learned sh*t about design yet
Judging by your profile pic, it seems Google had a hand in designing you as well...
Judging by yours you’re to insecure to post an actual selfie as you’re pfp? XD
@@sky42O Of course, I can't have some random internet jerk zing me based on my appearance like I just did to Raul up there.
I personally like bezels. They just sort of have a strangely nice aesthetic to me, and I like them to rest my thumbs on when I'm holding my device upright, they keep me from accidentaly tapping something on the screen.
Eh, it doesn't matter to me. I'd take it over a notch.
I actually like the "chin & forehead" .
I as well. I think when bezels are eliminated entirely, I'll just add some of my own.
Bezels have a strangely nice aesthetic to me, and they're a nice place to rest my thumbs when I'm holding my device upright.
Then i guess u like the new pixel 4
People who wants bezeless phones are now complaining about accidental side touches.
Zedexization bezels are practical and they make the phone look rugged imo. Bezelless phones are just fragile and prone to accidental touches
Pocofone F1 is my daily driver.
Dude...... 😀 😍😍😍 You're such a star... What a beautiful video bro... Watching it on my nexus 6 3rd time. Back to back! ☺ Cheers Zach
Thanks so much!
Me still rocking a 2016 phone with a SD 820 it's still working smooth
But it is showing it's age because of a old battery
Me too. Still using my Xperia X Performance with sd820 from 2016 as my daily driver.
Og Pixel here
One plus 3T here..
Using my Xiaomi mi4 as daily driver with SD 801 from 2014
@@prasaddd my friend is also using a 3T it is still very good and has a premium build
That was my dream phone that never made its way to Brazil . our last Nexus phone here was LG's prior to the Motorola Nexus ,which I of course owned one .
I'm still using My Nexus 6 as second phone , already install custom rom AICP ROM running Android 9.0 (Pie). Now already 2020 and still rock in it.
This phone was ahead of it's time, still beautiful to this day, and I still use mine... as a camera. Pixel 3 is currently my daily.
Nice to see you after a long time. But where is best Android apps of the year and setup video ? 🤔🤔
Next week :)
I've used it for 4 years, it was awesome ... until I broke it few weeks ago :(
RIP my nexus
these revisits are awesome. Keep them coming.
Thanks! Will do!
i loved my Nexus 6, the huge screen and those front firing speakers....it was awesome. i definitely couldn't use it as a daily today, the camera and battery life (as mentioned) were never outstanding and it would just seem so slow compared to my Note 10 plus and iphone 11 pro max. still it will always be one of my favorites.
I am still rocking this phone. Pixel experience 9.0 pie ROM. This phone wireless changing, front facing speaker. Still thinking of getting a pixel 4 or waiting for 5.
There have been some android 10 ROMs released for this thing!
Just got on XDA developers, breathe new life into this gem
This phone looks soooooo sexy especially for the time it came out....
This was the last non-samsung android phone I owned and this video is making me miss it more than I already did
reminds me of my MOTO X STYLE.....charging port issue killed it ....those speakers man , i totally miss those. ; )
Dude... Can you suggest me a good customer rom. With good battery life so I can use this as my daily driver.
@Zachary Anderson
In 2014, the #Nexus6 was a #Beast !!
Now in 2021, it's now a #Kraken !
Installed and running *smoothly* a Custom ROM #LineageOS #Android11 with April 1, 2021 security update.
I did replace the battery 🔋 though after years of use. Now it's back to 100% health 💪🏼 ...
This phone and the Huawei Mate 9 I had for a while were two of my favorite phones. Excellent for watching videos on the go. Makes me actually miss the 16:9 screen ratio.
Why can't new phones be this ergonomic?? That phone and the Moto X 2014 felt so good to hold!
Nexus lineup is so good. It is one of the best series
I loved that phone. My first BIG phone
Well was given a Nexus 6 with broken USB port and poor battery . All replaced and even put new mid frame on it for under £30 upgraded
to Android 7 works great for me.
Back in thr days: 5.5 8nch display is huge!!! OMG!!!
2020: 6.8 nearly 7 inch display is just normal
The phone on the thumbnail looked really familiar - turns out my Moto X2 has a chunkier brother! Still finding it hard to switch from this phone, it's still chugging along fantastically. Switching to a Custom ROM definitely breathed fresh life into it.
This and my Pixel 2 XL were the best phones I've ever had. Waiting for my Edge+ to arrive in the mail to replace the latter.
Watching this on my Nexus 6. The front firing speakers are so loud that I hear echoes at full volume in my studio
Pixel 👎
@@rajakhan12346 The Google Pixel 3 XL works great for me so far especially the camera and battery life. Only downside is that notch period.
@@bvwanders the phone like I said it's ugly in itself .
First Google I ever bought I absolutely loved mine
Just switched to S10+ from Nexus6p, loved it all the way.
Refreshing video, great potential for your channel
Thanks, Mark!
Damn, what a phone! Guess what? I’m still using it... in 2020!! Bought for Christmas 2014, and still usable on 2020. I’ve personally replace only two months ago the battery, and nothing else... Motorola best phone producer ever!
Can you plz tell me what is the name of Game at 5:03 🤔
Still have my Nexus 6 in the drawer. Was wanting to use it as a toy but the phone just shuts off by itself sometimes and the battery life is horrible. Would replacing the battery fix all issues?
Still Using this for media consumption. The screen and inbuilt audio are very good. Wish it had a little more battery life. Top phone for media tho
Damn, i loved that camera, made me take awesome shots from finisterre , the dynamic range was awesome!
We have to go back. I miss wide screen and bezels so i can feel the edge of the keyboard. But my 6p battery and cpu could not keep up.
Crisp as usual my guy!
Thanks fam! 👊🏽
Can anyone help me finding out the music playing @6:09 🙏
Had one. It was great and served me well for a couple of years.
I dont mind big bezels at the cost of front firing stereo speakers
awesome throwback to the good old nexus days. i owned the 5x and it was great.
5X is next!
It is not the more memorable Nexus, but it was a nice phone. I think the price was way to high compared to the Nexus 4 and 5, and the device was not that much better.
At the time I kept my Nexus 5, with the Android 5 update it felt like a brand new phone.
Its september 2020 and i love my nexus 6 I think its still is a great phone.
thanks for uploading this video how many memories with this phone❤️
I had a nexus 6, I liked it. It was the last android phone I had. nicely done video. you get my sub.
Where can i find fresh battery? 4 years old! Still work like Hilti but battery nearly dead! And have to shipping in Türkiye!
I know you mentioned that you keep your icon layout in odd numbers, but what would you say is your perfect icon grid layout?
Either 9x7 or 9x5
