Thanks for doing this video, it was extremely helpful and ensured my house numbers were mounted correctly. A rubber mallet is a must. I used a 3/16 drill bit to start but went one size up to ensure the plastic anchors went in smoothly.
Great idea, but be sure you're using caulk with silicone. Straight silicone will act like petroleum jelly and will not harden and can't be painted. Caulk plus silicone can be painted and even drilled into.
I talked to a commercial contractor who installed number like this too which were floating. They did the same thing and used either epoxy or silicone caulking. Great method. I too wouldn't use the anchors. Great video. God bless 🙏
@@Daddicated I ordered the 12 inch stand off numbers today from Home Depot on their app. I think they'll look awesome on the corner of the house vertically. Thanks for the response. Take care.
I just tried to install the same ones! Luckily, I didn't trust the template. I put the screws into the number and just pressed into my siding. I came here when the anchors disappeared Into my house. Thanks for the tip!!! Will try and update after. Any specific silicone you recommend?
I believe I used grout caulk that I had left over. Typically that one is designed for tile so for concrete wall it worked just fine. If you are doing into wood siding then try some caulking that’s designed for wood. If not wood you can always get liquid nail too.
I tried but the threaded fitting is welded on all crooked inside the number so that would of damaged the number itself. The quality on these numbers aren’t the best.
Lol....If you lined up the screws with the holes on the template you would have been fine....The video clearly shows you did not have screws in straight when you were lining up on the template

Glad I could help.

Thanks for the tip. I actually used the grout caulking not sure why I called it silicone in the video. And that seemed to work out good.

Yeah Silicone made it very easy to install.

The anchors disappearing into the wall was my biggest fear. I am so happy to find Daddicated.
How is this holding up?
So far so good. Holding on solid no issues.
I would have recommended straightening out the posts on the numbers rather than trying to compensate for them being crooked.
I tried but the threaded fitting is welded on all crooked inside the number so that would of damaged the number itself. The quality on these numbers aren’t the best.
How/why did you change your house number? That's messed up!
What you mean? The number it self remained the same. But the style of the numbers changed.
You should use the templet to drill your pilot holes
Nah, the screws were way off compared to the template.

The screws were welded to the letter so there was no way to line them up without distorting and damaging the number.
