Hey you two, definitely find an auto parts store selling the device called a “Cat Clamp”, and find someone to install it for you (like a muffler auto shop). You can also get it etched with the VIN. Catalytic converter theft is up like 500+% in the US just during the first half of 2022 (it was already on the rise since 2020), and Prius is the most targeted car in California (and top 5 in the US). The Prius’ catalytic converter has the highest amounts of valuable metals to scrap it, and it also holds it’s value for resale even as a stolen part because it’s so expensive to replace (like $4K US I’m told). A classmate said his daughter had to wait a week for the Prius part to come in after hers got sawed off. It takes thieves less than 2 mins with a reciprocating saw to hack through your exhaust pipe and yank it out. The cabled security devices like the Cat Clamp are flexible so that they are way more tedious or even incredibly difficult to cut through with a saw or grinder, thieves are in a hurry and don’t want to go back and forth from under cars (if they even brought specialized tools to get through the cables) or take extra time getting through these security devices and risk getting caught, and having the VIN etched on means grinding that off too and the part loosing a little more value as a whole part because it can’t be passed off as new by a reseller down the line. Spend a little extra time and a few hundred NOW to reduce the chances of losing thousands and many days of stress, stuck in an unfamiliar place out on the road! I just went through this myself at my home and even though I got it fixed quickly, starting the car and hearing it roar like a jet engine was scary for a moment, my wallet is much lighter at a time I am not earning much, and I have a LOT of admin to deal during a busy week with between my repair shop, the police, my insurance, and the HOA. It sucks but I am at least thankful I had emergency funds saved and available for this type of event. PS, would love to host you in Southern California if the timing works out! We have a whole house to offer friends and family in a very walkable downtown neighborhood in the Orange County city of Santa Ana. And I will take you to Disneyland, because I work there. Think about it. Just a thank you for all the content you have let me enjoy for free!
Load-out/Load-in checklists are your friend (and will evolve as you gain experience). Also, for one-burner cooking, a multi-level bamboo steamer over a pot deep enough to make pasta in while you steam the other ingredients is worth consideration (and can double as storage for spices, herbs, small veg and the like when not being used).
I use squirt bottles to wash my dishes and my face/brush my teeth when I'm traveling in my van. For the dishes, make sure you get most of the food scraped off. Use a solution of 1 part vinegar (or hydrogen peroxide) to water. Spray, let sit for a moment and then wipe clean. To wash my face, I either use face wipes (such as Neutrogena) or I will spray my face with water, wash and then wipe off with a washcloth or spray again with water. I also use the water-only squirt bottle to brush my teeth. Lastly, I would suggest taking a day or two a week to do some larger food prep (boiling noodles, sautéing veg, etc), especially if you're staying at a campground with unlimited water and/or electricity. That will cut down on meal prep time the rest of the week. Excited to see where your adventure takes you.
Would love to see a video were you go through all your gear incl. clothes/shoes etc.! Enjoy watching this whole project and makes me dream of living on the road! Keep up the great work and enjoy the journey!!
To save water while washing dishes, have two spray bottles, one with water and the other with soapy water. It’s super quick and easy and you don’t have to have to trickle going
It’s kind of like training at a new job. Operationally there is a lot to think about and your brain has to check and double check that you are doing it right. But after several times, you will start using that muscle memory and you will be getting it all done right without thinking about it too much. When you feel a little stress or unsettled camping, not wanting to forget to do things, just remind yourself that’s okay because you are building and strengthening those pathways in your brain and it will get easier and easier with repetition!
This is so much fun to watch. I can't wait to follow you guys around. What an adventure! And yeah first night etc is bound to be a bit stressful and awkward. No couch to lounge on, everything is Prius and surroundings now. 👀🙃💚

Finally on the road! So many moments made me chuckle - starting with your action packer lock conversation. Things will get easier for you for sure. Just throwing a possible idea your way: get a small tattoo in every US state you visit related to that state? Of course aftercare would be a little difficult on the road. So much fun ahead of you - I’m looking forward to your future adventures!
@@LeahandLevi Maybe instaed of tattoos on yourself you could paint a part of your car... I'm thinking a ceiling headliner cloth of your car could be painted in small doodles about each interesting place - and then in a year or whenever your journey will be over - you can dismantle the cloth and turn it into a piece of wall art in your new apartment!
About cooking - some porriges could be made in advance in a thermos, for example quick oats or brown buckwheat, and I think small pasta shapes and some noodles too. Just put into a big thermos with boiling water and some spices - and in a couple of hours you get a hot filling meal
I got the same ecoflow solar, put a thin wooden bar at top drill hole match hole with solar panel, put turn knob screw at each hole to support make panel more straight.
My friends if you want to charge your generator while driving or just sitting in ready mode get a extension plug 12 volt it will plug in to your lighter socket about a six foot one so you can reach your generator I have been charging mine this wat for six months with no problems.
Hi 👋 I’m here in tears . This video made me emotional. Your living your dreams! Wish I did that at your age. I’m not too much older, however I have a lot of folks that depend on me. Carpe Diem! Im vicariously living thru this experience. Be safe out there.

Great content from my favorite planet-saving couple. I came across this ad that I was hoping whenever you find the time, I would love to see you'll dive into the possible success story of this company called pela earth and the Loma composter. Maybe you can test it out for yourselves and come back with your thoughts on if it is a good option. Even see if the company would like to be a sponsor for a future episode. Thanks, Levi and Leah and keep up with the high spirits on the road.
Thanks Peterson! We have Pela phone cases actually. They’re a innovative company but they push products really hard and are constantly doing new releases to push people to buy more so that’s sad.
