Good video, Chris. Was pleasantly surprised by the track you used 😀 Titus 2:13 KJV - Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Worth noting that, at least on the actual physical units, the quoted attack and release timings are _very_ misleading. The LA2A has a very logarithmic-like acceleration, it will be doing a good chunk of the compression in under 1ms. Optos are all _very fast_ units, they're just not very linear. It very much _will_ clamp on transients, especially since it also reacts to fast peaks differently to slow peaks, and that's very much one of the things that makes it good on vocals, it used to make transient-heavy performances (say, plosives) very, very smooth, without sounding chopped. The plugin recreations are all over the place in this regard. I don't think I've ever listened to one that quite replicates the behavior properly.
Thanks for watching! If you’re looking to start recording music I have many videos targeted at beginners. Hope it helps! 🙏🙂
This video was very informative! You just gained a new subscriber :)
