    Ho my ! Finally ! Finally someone who see an overgrown garden and don't tell immediatly "Hey, I need to remove all the beautiful trees and flowers and put a big, ugly, empty lawn =D" ! You're garden is absolutly stunning and sumptuous.
    Also, I love the way you have cunningly mixed the french and english countryside style in your interior decor. Living in a old french house, I can tell you that if I can achieve this level of decoration I will be certainly the most happy person I think X') !
    Good job, I was a pleasure to see your work !

    Beautiful! I knew the previous owner, Carl. Gardening was his passion but unfortunately, his health declined and he wasn’t able to keep up with it. The house is amazing. So different than what I remember and the design update is flawless. Excellent work!

    Bravo! Great job! I live in a house built in 1908 and have been restoring it for years. Have been here since 1991 and it has truly been a work in progress. I like your vision and admire your hard work. Am very glad that you didn't go all modern inside...white, grey and chrome get's boring. Your "old" things have grace and charm. I will continue to watch your other videos.

    I agree with you 100% I came across your channel this evening I love how you loved this old house and made it new with a charm of yesteryear!I wish I could have done this I had a home but it’s gone through an unfortunate divorce. so now I live in an apartment and I keep the front my my building in the side of my patio with my touch!I changed the interior to make it look like my home. I changed out all light fixtures to give it a more personal touch instead of an apartment. So I do appreciate what you have done to this home! Bravo

    I really like how you made a few critical structural changes to improve the flow but kept it traditional instead of making it into another boring HGTV-type reno with gray walls and shiplap and a kitchen island the size of an aircraft carrier.
    It's also good to see you preserve the previous owners garden and just do some cleanup and pruning. As someone who lives with drought as the natural order of things I envy anyone who can grow a lush overgrown garden without a 500-dollar-a-month water bill. It would have been criminal to tear that out and put in a boring lawn.

    I feared you might take down the beauty of the walls with their moldings and woodwork and indulge into a one-space grey and trendy modern house as we sadly often see nowadays, thus killing all the colourful charm and secret passages left from the past. What you did was actually restore the house into what should be its "original" beauty, getting yourselves a lovely traditional home, the way I like them. But don't laugh: I loved that cyclamen pink in what you called "the red room", if redone in a new clean context. Ha ha! Greetings from snowy Mount-Lebanon. [Liked]

    I love that you're a woman of a certain age. Your experience, humour, and wisdom permeate these videos. I, too, think design is the unsung hero of a good reno. In our century Alberta farmhouse, we have only 5 ft of original wall left. Previous bad renos offered us the opportunity to start fresh. We're only 19.5 years into a 50 year project. Hope we live long enough to see it done! 😂

    • @stonecottageadventures304
      @stonecottageadventures304  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our first reno was finished literally the night before it went on the market - afer having lived in the house for 10 years. My husband was asleep in the car when the realtors came through to see the house. And I suspect we will have projects on this house for years to come. True confession - I would probably be looking to move if there was nothing left to do on my house.

  • @colinmcknight9605

    Wow, my earliest memories are living in one of those houses. The exterior was the plain concrete block, painted. It was in the mid-50's, and my father worked at the Pentagon. I have no idea how my parents squeezed our family into that small space. My family didn't own it, we rented. There was a little girl next door that was about my age and we played together. She had a pink tricycle. Funny, the things you remember.

    Just wonderful! The kitchen is so incredibly inspiring. I recently viewed a home for sale here with a friend who is actively looking, and I thought it had great potential if the back wall of the kitchen was opened, extended about 7 to 10 feet to increase the room's space, and then replaced with a large window such as yours to overlook the back yard, complete with the shelving. As it turned out, my friend decided to keep looking--but the people who bought the home are now remodeling it to extend the kitchen, but they plan on installing floor-to-ceiling glass doors to what will be a newly landscaped garden area. 🏠🏠🌹🌹💖💖😻😻😊😊

    p.s. I love the remodel of your master bathroom. I would love to hear about the beautiful furniture-style vanity, and that gorgeous mirror! And I am intrigued by the "arch" mirror I see reflected in the vanity mirror. Can you give a little tour and story about this charming little room?

      I show more of the bathroom in the video "Creating a French Country Bedroom." And the arched mirror is featured in "9 Easiest DIYs to Add French Style." The vanity was online from HOme Depot.

      Thank you very much! It cost less than you would have imagined because the house is smaller, we have a crawl space, and we stuck to the original footprint.

    This is my favorite kind of design video. Decorating videos are a dime-a-dozen but what I really enjoy is what you did. Reconfiguring spaces, moving doors and walls, making it work. Before and After blueprints. I've never seen your channel before but I "Liked and Subscribed" and I know I'll be back. Kudos to you.
