- I am so happy to share this beautiful French farmhouse in Provence with you. In this region of France, a farmhouse is called a "Bastide". Julien, the owner, found it abandoned and in need of a lot of work, and over the course of years he's turned it into a beautiful mediterranean and provencal style farmhouse. Restoring an historic building like this does more than make a nice place to stay. It restores a part of history and evokes emotions and memories of that time. It's a giant investment with its reward felt in the hearts of those who visit.

@@moniquechristiansen6202 I truly believe it’s a resonance to a past life or deep in my dna…I have been in a couple of places in France that felt so much like soul home. I had not experienced that before and have lived in over 30 locations. It floored me when I felt it. Watching this reminded me of that feeling. 💖💫it feels exquisite.

Keeping the furniture raw is the best part i found since no compromise with the natural originality of the materials used.
WOW he must have spent a fortune on this place. Basically stripping everything Down. to restore it back. So glad he has the knowledge and money to restore it.
It is so understandable the nature of house,because the naturel of France nature dictated this style by sun shadows, sky,everything as gift to archtect to do this soft and cozy environment. Thank you.

absolutely loved the way the house has been restored without resorting to use the " so called " modern day materials.The present day architects should learn from this work.Really inspiring.
I loved the house and equally loved the beautiful family who are eating food and drinking water seated on chairs with a dining table on which the food and water is kept in utensils, glasses and plates.
I've the simple elegance and the calm of soft light colors and natural light woods.

The natural beauty of the home. It is a bit austere without much decoration except the natural elements. It is very tranquil. he has done an excellent job of restoration.
We stayed in a small village in Provence about 10 years ago, when my spouse had a work project there. Our children were very small (1 and 3), and we stayed in a Gite with a very similar look to Julien's home. He has done an amazing amount of work to restore the place; it is indeed very lovely. And I think you have done a great job telling the story. I'm glad to have discovered your channel.

He did a magnificent renovation there. And that isn’t easy, as we know... tons of hard labor, but well worth it when you see the finished result, and can enjoy it for years to come.

Julien is a hard worker, visionary, and interior decorator. I love the rustic simplicity mixed with highly contemporary touches. This would be a wonderful place to stay. Simple floral arrangements and using objects layered on a slice of tree as a pedestal....he's original.
This farmhouse is so invitingly peaceful with an earthy ambience and history that warms the soul! Would have loved to have seen the sunflowers!! :)))

I absolutely love how this house combines coziness with lightness and airiness, traditional materials with modern open spaces- wow! Just beautiful.
He did a great job restoring the house. I especially liked the good (natural and traditional) materials he used. I do not like plasterboard, foams of all sorts and other modern quick and easy to use materials which look ugly, boring and are often full of rather harmful chemicals. Lime, as a wash or rendering/plaster is great for old houses, e.g. it is good against mold. Bravo that someone is still using it.

Julien seems like a Master of all trades. I love the Stucco look of the Chateau. It is sturdy, but very lovely. Very welcoming. I'd stay in a minute.

What did I like? Simply everything. I have such a huge amount of respect for old buildings and the lives they have led. I love the rustic simplicity of the interior, so different from the overdone formality I see in many homes. I enjoy the signs of wear and tear, the faded shutters and th grease stains in the kitchen. It just looks COMFORTABLE!
LOVED the connection to nature, the soft colours within the house, the beautiful work and love that went into the restoration.

I loved everything, but the walls, both interior and exterior, had my heart! My father was a residential painter and also hung and finished drywall, but I’ve never seen the sort of wall compound that was used here. It’s stunning, warm and full of life, and a labor of love! I love the texture of the walls.It feels like it has life.The muted ,organic colors and textures, the hard working, rustic simple furnishings, the kitchen counters and cabinets,but my favorite was the gathering of friends and laughter around the table.It made me long to be there.Merci beaucoup.

The lime render walls have so much texture and depth!
I love the natural palate, the way the brick is stacked in the fireplace, the plaster between the floor boards....there is nothing I don't love about the home.

Fantastic endeavor. The fact that earth tones in the interior were used while keeping original window shutters in their aged look make for a beautiful home. This simplistic, rustic feel makes it inviting and cozy. Great feel for furnishings as well.

So glad I have found your channel. My husband and I have been talking of visiting Provence one day when our youngest child would be a little bigger. We live here in Brittany ( Bretagne, France) . I have always loved going to the South because of its beautiful sunny weather, just a little windy though. This is by far, the most authentic farmhouse I have seen on youtube, unlike the others I have seen, this one is uncluttered, minimalist, having just the right amount of décors.

Julien’s place actually has a room with a double and a single bed, so you could stay there! I have to say I love Bretagne as well! It has its very own vibe and energy, it’s a unique place. I hope to go there sometime this year!
