You should tell the kid to pull the slide back with the rear of the slide instead of him putting his hand in front of the barrel. And trigger finger discipline

Thanks. I think he was nervous being filmed. Has shot the pistol many times before with no problems. Thanks for watching!

@@mikeshorsepowergarage7577 No problem, just want everyone to shoot safely, especially kids.

...and move his left thumb from behind the pistol before the slide rips his skin off.

I'll take the Ruger over the Walther all day long. Have had both. Still have the Ruger.

It all comes down to what ammo you use. Don't use cheapo ammo. Get CCI Mini Mag, Stinger, etc. for a .22 to cycle properly. Also check the Taurus TX. A relatively new .22 pistol but getting great reviews. Thanks for the vid!

This entire video made me nervous as hell. Father and son had hands in front of the barrel while firearm was loaded and while chambering rounds. Finger on the trigger while chambering rounds. Flagging everyone including themselves while the firearm was loaded. Firearms not pointed down range at all times. I think reviewing the 5 basic rules of firearms would be a good idea in this case.

Rule 1 and Rule 2. You flagged yourself and your cameraman more than once.

I fired today w my daughter for 1st time out w SR22. We both had issues. I gripped high up as always. I tried federal and CCI ammo at 1200 and 1240 FPS respectively.
Even when I cleared and reloaded it wouldn’t fire.
It may be my fault as I didn’t oil the gun prior assuming it was good to go from factory. When I broke it down it looked and felt pretty dry. I cleaned and lubed and we’ll try again.
We instead went to my G17 and she fired that fine.

The pistol is supposed to be able to use any .22lr ammo. I've used several types and had no problems. However after firing many rounds the gun does get dry and feeding issue arise. If you keep the gun lubed it should perform perfectly. Check out my video on gun lube. Great way to keep the gun lubricated without any mess. Thanks for watching!

I think you may have something there with improper grip of the pistol which creates sort of a limp wrist effect for no better words to describe it. Very good video and I buy your theory and the explanation on why the failures. Thank you.

Front serrations equal people wanting to use them to work the slide, putting their hands over the barrel in the process.

    • @mikeshorsepowergarage7577
      @mikeshorsepowergarage7577  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

When using the front serrations. It's important to grip with your finger tips and keep your hand tall so as to not get it in front of the barrel. I'll have to make sure my son corrects this next time. Thanks for watching!

    • @ag1382

Front serrations are for a short press check, not to rack a slide. Have medical supplies ready with hand over ejection port or in front of barrel, bad habit.

Sorry, note hand in front of barrel around 6:25 when loading the chamber and apparent safety off.

Teach him to get his finger out of the trigger guard when racking the slide

Were you shooting the same ammunition in all the demos? While the kid's grip/strength quite possibly comes into play, he isn't all that low on the grip and I don't really see heavy muzzle flip. I have a Marlin 60 (.22LR semi-auto rifle) and it absolutely HATES that Federal stuff you showed on the table: quite literally, every second or third round is a malfunction. With other ammo, the rifle shoots without the slightest issue. While the kid's grip might have been the deciding factor when all factors are weighed, I wonder if a different make/model ammo would allow good cycling with him shooting? Twenty-two auto-loaders are quite finicky when it comes to ammo. With an adult grip, it might force all the tolerances into perfection, but there might be a round out there those guns will be happy with while in your son's hands?

It’s your business. But you guys really need to work on your safety procedures first and foremost. Also take a class on basic pistol shooting. You need to change your stance, the way you grip the handgun, ect ect.

I never wish it upon anyone but I can totally see one of these guys shooting one of the others. And that boy should not be trusted with a firearm for everyones safety.

For your safety and others put the gun down and get some training. Flag everyone putting guns down on table pointing in the wrong direction. I dont usually comment on stuff but this guy is un safe. The kid even flagged you Ugh~ unsafe practices. Kid has finger on tiger while trying to rack slide.... Not the kids fault you need training.
