Add R equal to damage dealt to opponents this turn. With bolt it would be comparable to academy, but its red mana so it will still be worse

What about making it a companion to the black land. T, sac an artifact: add RR. You could call it Shivan Forge

Since the bant ones all care about a card type, I've always though to be in line the red one would have to be like "Add R for each sorcery in your graveyard". This would also be period appropriate as big haymaker X spells like Fireball, Earthquake, Rolling Thunder, and Kaervek's Torch were very much in the zeitgeist of Magic in that time.

I was thinking 1 damage for each artifact you control

@@lancemagmer9701 Your fixed Shivan Gorge combines well with artifacts that produce mana in Classic decks. With Moxen and Black Lotus the Gorge will be able to produce huge amounts of damage on turn one, and will also work well with Fountain of Youth. Expect this land to appear in every Type I Sligh deck in the world!

Maybe "{T} Exile X Instants and Sorceries from your graveyard: Add X R Mana"

The comments on the original Resleevables suggest "Add R for each land card in your opponent's graveyard". You can play it with land destruction, mill, or as a graveyard hoser.

add r for each instant and sorcery on the stack :)

I would settle for just letting it tap for R, but otherwise I'd probably make it turn mountains into hot lava, like 1RR, T, Sacrifice a Mountain: Deal 3. Fits the classic mantra "who needs lands anyway" of the times at the very least.

I think the balanced version is Ramunap Ruins, and that land was very strong in standard.
The version that is the same power level as serra sanctum and phyrexian tower does 3 damage.
The version that is the same power level as academy and cradle does 5 damage and doesnt sacrifice.

I think it would need to deal damage equal to the number of mountains you control.

      Goodness, a proto valakut

To be comparable to the cycle the damage would have to scale to x, red puts a lot of instances and sorceries in the bin so maybe scale by those
That being said it should just create mana like the rest of them
If it would create red mana equal to the number of instant and sorceries in the graveyard it would’ve been nice

it’s so weird that Gorge doesn’t tap for R

2 would be enough to make the card at least playable. Cursed Scroll is a staple in burn decks and it does the same amount for the cost with a different drawback, so 2 damage would be fine. it would still be the worst out of the cycle by a mile and not more than a one- or two-of.

Would have to be 2 to a creature then.

Powering up Shivan Gorge is 3-fold:
1). Make it the only one that can tap for R on its own.
2). Remove the TAP symbol from the activated ability.
3). Bump the damage up by 1 more, so it deals 2, OR drop the cost of the activated ability by 1 generic mana. So it either is 2 to activate to deal 1, or 3 to activate and it deals 2.
The key should be that it can tap for R so the first one is roughly on par with being a mountain, it can help generate mana for its own ability, and late game you can activate it multiple times to get over the finish line.
This would STILL make it worse than Academy Sanctum or Cradle, but that gap between 4 and 5 should be a lot smaller.

To make it MATCH the others? 3 Probably.
To make a reasonable and powerful inclusion that is not busted? Even 2 damage seems like too much, but probably 2

I always wanted it to be sorta a cursed scroll on a land. T for R or T, reveal a card at random from your hand. If the card is red or a mountain, deal damage. 1 is probably safe, but 2 is more in line with being busted like the others.

Shivan Gorge is Legacy. I'm thinking a Legacy RDW type deck really doesn't want to get into a state where it has 4 lands (2R + T: Shivan Gorge). I think in order for Shivan Gorge to be usable in Legacy RDW, I'd rather have the Mountain subtype than a damage increase.

Tap and sac, deal damage equal to number of sorceries and instants in yard

What about put a pain counter and deal damage equal to pain counters?

if it did 2, would it be in Every Sligh Deck?

    • @Leuber
      @Leuber หลายเดือนก่อน

Maybe not. It’s still tap 4 in total to deal 2, which Cursed Scroll does for 3, it still doesn’t tap for red in a deck that plays Ball Lightning, and it’s still legendary making it risky to include more than one copy.

make it deal 1 dam to target player and each creature that player controls

3 damage to one target, and one to you.
