Yes the adhesive is what makes the phone waterproof.

You did not tell how to remove the metal thing after you pulled the screen out. It stops the new screens 4 pins ( 2 up and down ) from latching in

Double check the speaker area. Making sure all small stuffs are seated properly flush in bracket.
