  • Apple says they are aiming for zero climate impact by 2030.
So to me that says a device should be able to be repaired when the time comes to, preventing it from becoming e-waste. But is that true?

There's a product that's made for iPhone repair to swap out a broken screen for a third party unbroken screen. It's a device by the name of the JC - 1V. The device is powered by your laptop or desktop computer. The device has connections on it from top to bottom that are the exact same connectors for the display flex cable that mimic the motherboard connections for that flex cable. The device is a read and write electronics that reads and copies the software data from the broken screen stores it then you remove the broken screen flex cable from the motherboard connection on the device. Then you take the new screen and it's flex cable and attach it to the same motherboard connection on the jc-1v. It will ask you do you want to write the data on to the new screen you tap yes. The data is now transferred to your new screen that will allow you to use facial recognition true tone and touch ID on your new unbroken third-party screen.

Apple has already fought and lost in court against third party repair shops. This wouldn't be right even if they only did it in the US and EU which have good economies and where people are able to pay for their repairs, but most people live in less wealthy countries. We have a $250 average monthly wage in mine!!! My girlfriend broke her iPhone X screen and had to pay almost $300 at the local Apple store...we went to a repair shop and she was able to fix it for $80. We could have also bought the screen online and switched it ourselves for less than $60, but I'm an Android guy and I'm not familiar with Apple's hardware.

When the nearest John Deere licensed depot is so far away from the farms using them, and transportation of inert heavy vehicles could cost thousands for a simple problem the owner could have fixed, but wasn't allowed to, the problem starts to show itself. @coytus94 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@Siraj_Hulk Anybody can take apart an iPhone and swap out parts. I know because I've done it. The issue arises with part availability and compatibility. A lot of third party parts actually have a hard time working with new iPhones and require that you buy the actual part from Apple itself, which is ridiculously costly, and they most likely won't sell you the part anyway because repairing the device yourself would void the warranty and they would want you to take it to their shops to have them repair it and charge you an even greater amount. The other issue is that a lot of their parts can be very difficult to remove without damaging due to the godly amounts of adhesive they use, and with every new phone that comes out they use more and more adhesive, most likely for the waterproofing. Not to mention they literally have different size screws and different head shaped screws for almost every screw hole which is very aggravating. These are reasons why people are calling Apple anti repair. While they're not completely "anti repair" yet, they're getting dangerously close.

So it’s not actually an error with the parts, since these actually are genuine apple parts. Really, the parts just have a specific ID that is locked to one phone, and if the ID doesn’t match the software actually manually breaks itself in order to screw you over, even though in reality there’s nothing that should stop it from working perfectly fine. So now, not only can you not get third party replacements, but now with even genuine Apple parts you can’t do it yourself, you must pay Apple to do this exact same job with the exact same parts in order to unblock all these features that it breaks on purpose.

These "transition periods" from Apple as I like to call them are always aggravating lol. With them wanting to go wireless with everything I can honestly just see them bypassing the type C port altogether on their iPhones and just going straight to the magnetic qi charging. The only thing i can see moving to type c within the next year or two would be their base line ipads and ipad minis since those can be used for productive reasons more than an iphone can. I don't understand why they kept the lightning port on the phones and put a type c port on the other end that requires a type c charging block. At that point they shoulda just made all the ports type c. I like Apple don't get me wrong, but they make a lot of senseless choices sometimes.
