Egr valve recirculates exhaust gas back into intake which is burnt again which actually helps keep a lower temp in the cylinder and exhaust manifold (reducing the production of nitrogen oxides)
Before you remove the EGR you must have it switched off in the ECU ! or you will have major problems engine light on, running problems, bad fuel econ . after that you can do the MOD and will work like a charm. had my EGR turned off removed and mapped, better emissions MPG and fly's like a rocket

Not true, my ASZ engine has had no EGR for the last 60k miles and the only issue I have is a permanent engine management light. At first this was annoying, now I don't even notice it. I still get 55+mpg on a long run and 45mpg on a sporty run. The reason your son advocates the ECU delete of the EGR is because he makes a living out of remapping cars! YOU CAN DO THIS MOD WITH NO ADVERSE EFFECTS, as long as you meet all the requires steps and fit everything correctly.
I saw a video on TH-cam of how to clean the EGR valve. So one day I was gonna do it in my car and I got a big surprise. There is no EGG valve in my car, somebody took it out. It has some kind of silicone or something in the holes. I don't know what to do, just leave it like that or put a valve.

I assume since blocked egr's cause the engine fault code light, once you purposely block it off, do you just drive around with the code on? Also, if an egr becomes blocked, and the fuel mileage goes to shit, wouldn't fully blocking it off cause horrible mpg? I'm not a mechanic but I do like to learn and tinker from time to time but I am obviously missing something here..
The egr in my car is necessary. It keeps combustion temps down and thereby eliminates engine ping/knock .... When it's clogged I get poor mileage and loss of power...... But it needs cleaning every 3months....it's an easy job cleaning it though..... I also clean the pcv valve and change fuel filter at the same time.... These are cheap to do....Mitsubishi 4g13 lancer..... 12 yr old car with carburetor.
I have a kia sportage 2.0 06 plate and when the eGr is blocked it throws up a engine light and goes into limp mode. It needs sorting with a computer. Your kit doesn't seem to include this ?. What's the point ?

You have to flatten the can, dismantle the outlet of the EGR (the place where the exhaust gases are mixed with the air intake). adjust the screw holes in the metal plate and mount so that the lamina blinded the hole. If someone is afraid that the blade is too thin, you can use a few layers. Zero costs, and 15 minutes of work.

+007dardan I done that in my cars and it is working. Trick is to block conection after egr, near input to air inlet. There is much lower temperature. In few weeks I will do video tutotial how to do that on my chanel so if you want you can subscribe and TH-cam will notify you:)

I've 119k on my PD130 just now and plan to do EGR/ASV and EGR cooler delete but not sure if i should take off the intake manifold to clean out all the soot and crap at the same time.
hardcoretam my one has 160k on it. The best thing to do is to remove it and see what its like on there. Once you know, go from there. Thank for watching the video
What are you talking about recycles "unburnt" gas? It's exhaust gas so there is no unburnt gas if your referring to oxygen!? The exhaust gas is inert (thus can not be burnt again). An EGR valve is there to re circulate spent exhaust gas to lower combustion temp to reduce NOx in the emissions.
That depends on what way you look at it. Emissions wise then they will be effected as the EGR is designed to lower NOx. But much better for the driving and running of the engine as the engine will get fed just clean air which gives a better burn. In my advise it's wise to have the engine mapped as the software is designed to work with an EGR on a later engines. A good map won't put extra strain on you engine, it should make the most of the quality of the fuel in you country. I.e. In the U.K. the quality of fuel is very good as with a good map on ave you bhp will go up from 30-50bhp (turbo Diesel engine)
Just as well you approve as i already ordered the deelete kit.. My Bora is a 130 PD TDI .. but ive been told its ben mapped already to about 160 BHP and the car is a 2001 same engine as this one in this video. I'm wondering though , will it pass the MOT with the delete?
there absolutely is unburnt fuel molecules in exhaust gas. it is impossible to burn it all with on combustion cycle (or even 2 or 3). Yes it does lower temperature and NOx emission as well.

Most likely not. However it's not hard to put it back on before emissions. Go look at some 6.7 cummins diesel deletes and see how hard it is and how much more regulated diesel's are.
Is EGR delete supposted to increased HP? I had my car tuned recently and I was told it's better to go with 'soft EGR delete'. I didn't have much time to talk about it, so just wondering if that's something needs to be done on all retuned cars with stock exhaust but ECU remap and performance filters added. @@amjathkhan2004 well You could delete the catalytic converter(s) muffler etc. And yes throwing soot in is mostly true on diesels as they 'roll coal' however on a gasoline vehicle same principle but much less. cooler combustion is less power& fuel economy And engine temp. Also egr maintenance is gone.

too complicated, just disconnect the rubber vacuum hose from the top of the valve, with no vacuum the valve closes and blocks the entry of the exhaust shit into the manifold. so you dont need that blocking plate and other parts
WRONG! EGR does not recycles UNBURNED GAS, there should be hardly or no unburned gas, othervise there is something wrong with the engine. What EGR does it simply bypass some exhaust gas back to the intake when engine is at a partial load and fuel flow is low and there is no need to fill the whole cylinder with fresh air. You can use exhaust air where there is CO2 instead of O2 and thus the engine produces less NOx. Simply if intake flow is less than exhaust flow is less. With this diesel act like gasoline with trhrotle plate. EGR is more important on diesels since they operate on lean mixtures. If intake volume is less than exhaust volume is less.
Mate, can you or anyone help? I've got a 2007 mk5 1.9 tdi golf match, with 122,000 (which I service regularly)on the clock and its smoking if I pull away hard from a stand still start, I've tried to get the egr valve off but I can't see how. I really struggled, it seems an impossible task, so I could only clean it in position. Could it be a prob with injectors or am I correct with the egr valve diagnosis, ( not down on power) pls can you offer any advice on a fix or diagnosis or better still how to get the egr valve off? Do you poss recommend a terraclean. Thanks in advance.
A bit late, However google it, go on ebay and basically slower the internet for some delete kit ofc. You could diy block off plates but that obv. Takes fabrication skill the other option is finding a person or shop who will delete it and source parts for you atleast in the u.s. for diesels the shop may get up to a 75k fine and owner 7k or something of that sort just be careful maybe try a stealth delete this might be hard to understand for someone with no mechanical knowledge.

EGR valve normally is closed unless acted upon by electronics,To dis-able simply in-plug the wires going to EGR solenoid.

2001 Golf TDI, much like the one in the video, but I think the one in the video is a PD engine, mine is an ALH
McCheeseKid 99% of the time, these don't bring up any lights. Older models are alot more robust than the newer ones.

You plug a boost line for a boost gauge there. If you don't want to you can put that tiny screw he showed instead

Absolutely it increases power, response, mpg, and engine life as it throws soot in the engine. Now you know you learn new things everyday..

Could it be a prob with injectors or am I correct with the egr valve diagnosis, ( not down on power) pls can you offer any advice on a fix or diagnosis or better still how to get the egr valve off? Do you poss recommend a terraclean. Thanks in advance.

A bit late, However google it, go on ebay and basically slower the internet for some delete kit ofc. You could diy block off plates but that obv. Takes fabrication skill the other option is finding a person or shop who will delete it and source parts for you atleast in the u.s. for diesels the shop may get up to a 75k fine and owner 7k or something of that sort just be careful maybe try a stealth delete this might be hard to understand for someone with no mechanical knowledge.
