    This was great but how can any of us know who uses the Quad coils and where to buy them.

      Texas pocket springs sells them to everyone now for DIY mattresses, easy to find if you google

    Would be nice to know which companies use which (if that's even possible).

    I want the strongest / hardest pocket coil mattress with a 2” Talalay topper. What do you suggest?

    This video started me down a DIFFERENT rabbit hole in my DIY mattress journey. I appreciate your content, greatly!! Now just deciding if I want 14.75 or 15.5.

      @@aisha53737 This person is part of a DIY mattress group to which I also belong. They chose, and are VERY happy with, the more popular 15.5 gauge & the mini coils. The 14.75g is better suited for either large/heavy set people who require greater support for the same level of comfort or, individuals who prefer a VERY firm feel.

    Man this is legit. I had no idea there was such a difference. Great info, thanks!

    What a good mattress for heavier people?

    This is such a valuable site you have created. We are older couple with various health and aging issues. Since we have a disparity in weight and size and don't want to disturb each other at night, do you have a comment on which is better or make a difference? How do we know they are really using a quad coil? Do you sell online?

    • @sdmattressmakers
      @sdmattressmakers  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi There! Yes, we do sell online and can definitely help you out in finding the right mattress for you. In regard to the quad coils, we always recommend to check with the sales associate on what type of coils they are using. When it comes to less motion transfer, latex and memory foam are a great option for that!

    is pocket coil different than pocket sprint? example wayfair mattresses are pocket sprint or inner spring instead of pocket coil.

    What's a good coil count for a king mattress? Also, being a 340lb guy. Should I look for certain gauge coils? Thank you

    • @Cmm474
      @Cmm474 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I feel like the gauge is what’s important and many sites don’t even tell you

    • @nancyb2003
      @nancyb2003 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Cmm474 I agree, gauge, # of coil turns, and the # of times the coil is heated/cooled ALL determine firmness.

    Just don't buy Emma unless you like a firm mattress. It's causing me hip pain even with two mattress toppers. I'm now looking at a mattress that is plush with micro coils. What does that do? I'm 5"5 and 275 pounds

    I had the Tempur-Pedic Adapt Medium Hybrid and the coils made a popping noise. A month ago I got the Tempur-Pedic ProAdapt Medium Hybrid and the coils have made a popping noise from day one and it’s getting worse, and it’s loud. Sometimes you can get out of bed and still hear coils popping up, delayed reaction.
    I don’t know if it’s normal, but if you search individual pocketed coil noise/popping, it says the coils are failing, or the mattress is old and it’s time to buy a new mattress. My ProAdapt Medium Hybrid was made on 11/17/22 so it’s not old at all. Purchased from Tempur-Pedic and it’s been the most comfortable and best Tempur-Pedic out of the 5 different Tempur-Pedic mattresses I’ve had in 3 years time. I just don’t want to keep it if it’s broken, especially for the price.
    Is Tempur-Pedic coil popping noise normal?
    Thank you!

    • @vidfreak56
      @vidfreak56 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Whats likely is that the coils are snagging on eachother inside and its snapping back and making a noise when it does. Id contact tempur pedic and ask them. Are the coils failing? Its possible one could either be failed and is moving lower than the others and snagging that way or broken in some way. Id say its not normal and you should contact them directly with any concerns.

      @@vidfreak56 I did return the mattress. I do have a video on my channel of the unbelievable noise it made.
      My first Tempur-Pedic was a Adapt medium hybrid and it would make a coil popping noise here and there, but not like the pro adapt in my video, seriously sounds like popcorn popping!

    Ok.. I tried a ton of mattress' and Kinda settled on a 789 L&P QE system from a local OEM. But Im curious where would you go from here?
    I feel like I kinda prefer the less dense coil system as it feels like an older style bed.. "Open coil "1.5". Or maybe I just haven't tried enough systems?
    as far as im aware, QE is 13.75 top and bottom, 16 gauge center and sides. 589 center coil config not counting 100 + 100 Quantum edge.

    Burning up on foam! Side sleeper plush feel natural materials. Any mattress suggestions? Thanks!

    • @sdmattressmakers
      @sdmattressmakers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Angela, if you tend to get hot when sleeping I would, get something that is very breathable. In our opinion talalay latex hybrids with organic cotton and wool are probably the most breathable combinations. Also having a very breathable protector is important as well, which will help you sleep cooler than a typical waterproof protector. Even the ones that are supposed to be "cool", can affect the breathability and temperature of the mattress.

    I Like your video - but to be objective what are some cons of a Quad Pocket Coil? everything has pros and cons.

    • @strictnonconformist7369

      My logic-based guess is that the same reason they provide more stability makes them less likely to work well on adjustable frames.

    • @jessuckakepow
      @jessuckakepow 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@strictnonconformist7369not accurate. I’m on a subreddit and the dude, whose build I’m emulating, has his on adjustable bases and loves it. As for a negative… for individual purchasers the shipping costs as much as the coils.
