Hi guys! I’m a manufacturer mattress in Italy. I think Purple did a big mistake in the foam layer over the Pocket coils and under the purple gel. The foam is broken By the head coils.
I know this is an older video, but I ran into your tear down and YES, the edge support is horrible and our edge separated from the grid and the coils came through their encasement and began pushing up and created a crater between the foam edge and grid. We are In the process of getting a new mattress and you guys are on top of our list. We have the purple-4 and are side sleepers and our legs are lay on the gap of the grd and foam and it sucks. Warranty no good, as there was one small stain on the cover and threy refused to take care of us. Needless to say, PURPLE SUCKS. Thanks for your breakdowns and keep up the good work.
I own a Purple 2... I love it! Fell asleep right away, great pressure support around hips and back, sleep through night, wake up refreshed... I love the grid. My kids love this mattress. I think the wear and tear is subject to how a person uses it, persons weight etc..
I just purchased a Soledad Plush model. I was sold on the less-is-better paradigm after five years on a memory foam mattress that was supposed to last eight years. Most reviews are for less than five years, but past five years is when the rubber meets the road, so to speak. I think a lot of companies scam customers on the guarantees. They promise long-term satisfaction, but stipulate that the mattress has to have a "visible" dent. The foams and pads will not show that dent, yet degradation will cause a significant decrease in support. Sorry, warranty denied! Only time will tell, but with an A+ BBB rating for Mattress Makers, I look forward to many years of sound sleep on my new Soledad mattress.
Careful my friend. I have a Purple 2 and it is by far the most comfortable mattress I’ve ever slept on. You can call it a gimmick if you want but it’s definitely unlike any other mattress available. Beauty is in the eye of the sleeper but I definitely love the support and “bounce” of the Purple grid.
@@FishmacFLTRU yes it is a gimmick. that weird purple crap quickly disintegrates. You’re just praising this cheap fiberglass infested bed bc you spent money on it and feel sad. you be smokin that copium
@XRemARx I think it's the most comfortable mattress. Mine lasted six years before it started sagging. Then they replaced it without any problems because of the warranty.
I have one of these beds, I have a question. If I wanted to replace the foam (bought second hand and it had a very heavy smell like it had been smoked on a lot), how would I go about doing that? I was thinking about buying a sheet of latex foam and replacing the purple foam that way, but I don't know what glue to use. Thoughts?
I would avoid using any glues and when it comes to smoke, it is really hard to get rid of. You can try sprinkling baking soda over your mattress and add a couple of drops of essential oils and let it sit for 15-20 min and vacuum it up. It might help but it might not!
@@sdmattressmakers thank you! So what would you recommend I do to make a new foam layer around the purple grid and coils then? Or would simply stacking them and using the mattress cover be enough to hold it together?
I want you guys to open up a beautyrest harmony lux medium hybrid I currently have one going through the warranty process damn top memory foam layer is shifting around and it’s only 30 days old.
Is there a mattress that exists that scores a perfect 10 on the firmness scale that is the absolute softest mattress out there where you sink in halfway or more through the entire mattress and then it gently suspends you, similar to a water bed or partially deflated air mattress?
The purple restorePremier in soft feels a lot like that if that’s what you want. There are showrooms where you can try them out. I went to one the other day.
This is interesting that they are tearing down this mattress as it was discontinued about a year ago. To do it now when they don’t even sale this one anymore unless you get it super discounted is a little strange to me.
I will never buy the purple brand..I saw another video where the grid was all out of shape/buckled disform and for the price hell no rip off, just like the mattress I Owned now in days 10 years warranty but they don't warranty the mattress it need to be 2'" under in order for them to warranty the damn thing. is all sag
I just tore apart my Winkbed after 4 years because the foam was completely worn out. The pocket coils came in handy for my DIY latex bed! Ive never slept as great as I do currently!
@@PlasticPelletsi love purple matress mine lasted 6 years before sagging and they replaced it no problem my dad had a wink bed and it lasted 5 years before sagging every matress sags after a while
Horrible mattress. I paid too much money for what is the worst purchase I've made. Basically disposable. Customer service pressured me that it was a known issue and to replace with the next model up for no added cost. The same exact construction and problems. the edges are no rigid enough to hold anything in place. after a while a well is created between the coils and the "edge." I'm guessing that with the coils loose, somehow the coils stretch and come up through the mattress. You are required to remove the cover and take pictures of the inner mattress. But the warranty does not work in your favor given the known issue. Way too much money to waste. I'm looking for a way to salvage and make my own mattress. I have serious health issues, which is why I purchased the mattress. My healthcare costs are astronomical. In looking for a new mattress all the prices are as high as the Purple with reviews that show flaws. This and the warranties don't justify the price either. The mattress I really did like when testing, a brand name of a color as well, had a 10 year limited warranty that hinged on a dip in the mattress of at least a specific depth.
Wow! This is a very compelling video! I’m very happy you guys opened this up! Would love to see more like this!
So sad to have to throw away such an expensive newish mattress. You guys rock, love these teardowns.

What could they have done to prevent that from happening?
@@jcwirth Purople should put a layer of dacron or poly to protect the foam from the head of the spring
I am shocked at the horrible build quality of this Purple. Even the sharpie marker handwriting and duct tape…bad
What concerns me is how the coils are cutting into the padding on the top. How long until they are into the purple grid?
lmao yea and that fiberglass

No one size fits all mattress exists
And if you have the wrong bed frame it can wear the mattress faster

Will you do a video on the avacado luxury organic mattress?
Stay tuned! You might see it in our next couple of videos😊

Should change the title to - Purple 3 Mattress: "Silica Fiber" or Fiberglass? lol
