    People still confuse Eren on this scene. He clearly understood Ymir's suffering, and how her descendants had been pursued, and oppressed, but also if they rose in power how THEY too would again become a force of oppression. A vicious cycle of suffering where people were tethered together for years and years. THIS is the whole issue with his desire for Freedom, because even if he dies, he would be part of the Paths where all past Titans reside and are passed down to the new bearers. His power granted him vision of the past and future, and he wanted to destroy the cycle to be free, but also for his close friends like Armin and Mikasa. Yet he knew that there needed to be ONE evil where all would focus, and by becoming that evil and eliminating the vast majority of the population of the world, even when there would be tensions, this time people would worry more about surviving than to fight for power and dominance over one another. And also he set Ymir free of her own self imposed enslavement, she was a victim of Stockholm Syndrome in her life and when she merged with Hallucigenea and became the Founding Titan, that never changed her attachment to her abuser. So as she resided in the Paths, she continued her Zombielike existence bowing to the will of her king and father of her progeny, but she yearned to end the suffering bind and Eren understood this as kinship. In the end she didn't have the will to become free until Eren gave her the choice and made her see that she mattered more than something to be used. She then released Hallucigenea and It merged with Eren.
    In a way Eren was not necessarily evil for the sake of being evil, he wanted to be the ultimate evil to in fact save the world from itself and the pettiness of others. He wanted his friends to not have to continue in the same cycle and by extension humanity itself...this is a parallel with the character of Muad'Dib in DUNE, who sees far into the future and sees the extinction of humanity, although it is his son that takes up the mantle to save humanity by becoming the ultimate evil and free them from the rule of others and extinction by stagnation. I wonder if Izayama was also inspired by the DUNE novels when he wrote AOT.

      Eren’s a great character, we all agree. Though I once imagined what if Ymir has been waiting for the day to be free and once Eren freed her, Ymir would turn 180 on him and resurrect herself into the real world as the Founding Titan. She’ll give every Subjects of Ymir her message how she’ll not only stomp the rest of the outside world to a pancake but also will save Paradise Island for last, because she’s filled with brutal anger on everyone who used her and saw her as a god who can make any Titan in existence. So she wants to destroy the entire world to end everyone

    • @EternalRoman
      @EternalRoman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      @@taluca8474 She was a scared child that obtained immense power, in contrast Hallucigenea was a primitive live form that instead of evolving retained its form for millions of years while its progeny evolved. One was stuck in by love, attachment to abuse and the other was stuck in existence, yet both felt the need to survive. When they bonded the common drive was to survive, but each one just functioned by their drive. The only one that could be reasoned to understand herself was Ymir and Eren seeing that common bind of subjugation, prompted her to be free of her own self-imposed torment. She wouldn't had turned on him because she saw that he too wanted to be free, but would sacrifice himself for her and then eliminate the chains of subjugation of the world for not just her, and her descendants, but for his fallen and living close friends and loved ones. At the same time, he too would be free entirely when he'd die.

      Omg yeah now Im genuinely curious if any of the authors of AoT or Dune, (or Code Geass I’m remembering had something like that too) had seen each other’s work cause they all have that common one evil trying to make all of humanities different factions stop fighting each other to become allies to defeat them or whatever as a whole.

      @EternalRoman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@catm590 Well, DUNE was created, written and published by Frank Herbert in 1965 approx, so in reality CG and AOT may have taken from DUNE. DUNE was so influential that George Lucas even softly (not that softly) plagiarized it to make his Star Wars franchise. GAME OF THRONES also took so many elements from DUNE, those novels were extremely influential that the movies and mini series never really do justice to the books. That being said, AOT had the right amount of time to flesh out characters and that is the only way DUNE can be made. You also have to look at Neon Genesis Evangelion, which also inspired AOT.

    FINALLY WITH LIGHT AND SHADOW THEME

  • @noir6171
    @noir6171  2 ปีที่แล้ว +39

    Just some warnings, since a lot of people doesn't seem to read the description neither the video title:
    1 - The song name is Light & Shadow, it's composed by Hiroyuki Sawano (The same composer of Shingeki's past seasons). Yes, it was made for League of Legends, for the Star Guardians video. You can find the song just by searching "Light & Shadow" or "League of Legends Light & Shadow".
    2 - This is an animated version of J05H manga motion video, where he used the same song to the same scene, but with the manga. I just wanted to see how it would look like in the anime version. At that time, the anime wasn't out yet, so we didn't know which song would fit the scene.
    3 - Making the scene "heroic" or "epic" wasn't my intention, I just wanted to put Hiroyuki Sawano song because I like Hiroyuki Sawano and it fits Shingeki, that's it. I don't care what you think about the Rumbling, I know is not a good thing and it wasn't my intention to make it look like a good thing. I literally just like the song, that's it.
    4 - What this video is about is literally in the title. If you prefer the original song, good. There's no problem in that, but I don't know what you were expecting when you clicked on this video after reading the title.
    5 - I'm not very good at editing stuff, so some parts are indeed not synchronized. I apologize for that. This was not a serious video, I just wanted to see what would the scene look like with this song.
    Anyways, that's it. c:

    This really fits imo, Ymir was outright treated like a pig and she was so deprived of her humanity that she was desperate to please literally any person, you would think that her kind meek demeanour would get her some attention or approval but no, she was the the one living amongst pigs, all she got was a betrayal by EVERYONE she knew with false accusation, an arrow and cruel sentence. Then she fell into the "Tree of Life" and lucky her, obtained Godly Power- so maybe this time she will get approval or even find love, but no once again she is meerly and arrogantly called worthy to bare the children of his, by the King and how grateful she must be for this honour, she was so deprived of her humanity, her self, that she accepts even with overwhelming power, still hoping in being a part of her fellow humans, part of atleast 1 "circle" or family. Then only sacrifice her life to save the Vile Creature they call "King", To have him disgrace her death by calling her weak to die from an arrow and thereby decided by the filthy f*ck that their own children to eat there mother (alive) to preserve her power for his use. I know it's an anime but damn that ticks me the wrong way. The soundtrack is amazing with this scene for the fact that after all of that she still has love, hope and wishes for someone in this humanity to free her, waiting 2000 years just for that someone to give her the mere words of acknowledgement and affirmation of her humanity, of her own free will, so she may finally, Be free from her own compulsive restraints not knowing how to do anything for herself and Eren does just that while Zeke tries to assert his bloodline of "royalty" and false control over her freedom and choices just like the King.

      as person above me said! this scene is not supposed to heroic or epic, it is emotional to an extent, but in this scene, ymir literally comes to term with her hatred for the world and decides to give eren the power to flatten it and kill everyone, the music may fit without context but to me it just seems tone deaf to the meaning of what's actually going on! in the episode the silence with zeke shouting in the back, slowly leads up to dark music as they show ymir's face, revealing that we're about to see the rumbling happen, it's perfect that way, atleast imo
