When you are outside and it starts sprinkling it’s nice to have that top cover on the remote.
Im good with the cover, it's just a hideous remote, lol.
FMS offers some sweet looking bodies! This rig looks great!
Can't wait to see what you do to it! I think it deserves the usual light system and interior decorations. 😁
Oh yes, lights and an interior full of stuff!
@@AMPROEngineering 😍😍😍 😆
Your son sounds like mine.😂I have been trying to take him along more to film videos....takes a lot longer but it's well worth it. Nice video!
He loved driving this thing!
Fun truck 👍
You can fit a normal lipo under the hood.
Its a tight fit but it works and you dont need to strap it down.
Love the wheels
Really? the hard case? Maybe a soft pack will fit in there.
@@AMPROEngineering yeah normal hard case. 👍
really nice video, recently i got one and im in love! we will be in touch.
Very good! Ill post the weeks next week.
I really like the look of this Toyota but i agree with you the wheels are blah! Funny the wheel design matches the steering wheel pattern on the small fms controller you held up!
LOL! Yeah I noticed that too....i also hate that part lol!
@@AMPROEngineering beautiful new wheels and tires you ended up using friend!
Same wheels used on the Mashigan. First things I changed out. The Mashigan has a leaf spring conversion kit. I wonder if it will fit this chassis?
Yes, the Mashigan leaf spring will fit the FJ40. I just got my conversion kit from FMS
I noticed those wheels there too. It is likely you can convert it.
Hi Al can you make some beauty rings for them wheels on the FJ and some wipers thanks. 👨🏻🔧
I think it comes with wipers? I forgot to look in the accessories bag. Beauty rings are a really good idea...i totally can.
Ampro causally dropping another fantastic review. 👏
Hahah! Well thank you!
Makes me want you so I can tow my revo 3.3 but too have a trail rig too
It would be a cool tow truck
great video as always! always get a smile when your channel pops up with something new. I picked up terks yellow fj and have been having a blast with it. the chassis is the same as on their 1/6 jimny and the 1/10 mashigan. the jimny comes leafed tho. they make a conversion kit for the mashigan which fits this as well. its about 50 usd for the front and rear. the wheels and tires are the same that come on the jimny and yes they are a complete eye cancer. i tried to fill the shocks with oil and while they're "oil" fillable they were hard to get to work correctly. i green slimed all the o rings (to my surprise it had them) but ultimately i ended up adding some internal springs to help stiffen up the rear to help with some of that sag, it seems to have done a nice job. also the rear shocks are at a pretty extreme angle. i moved them about 26mm over to a more vertical position and just drilled some 3mm holes and it gave it a little more height and looks a bit better also. when i scaled it out it came out to be just over 1/7th scale so i printed the "easy 13" figure from printables at 181% scale to make a 9.5" driver and it worked out really well!
I like these tips! I found some inner fenders someone designed for printing (on printables, fms-fj40-inner-fenders) and they work great. I am surprised the shocks weren't doing well. I wanted thicker oil in mine and I still need to look at the gear reduction box to see if it has any grease! I also need a driver in there.
Outstanding as always. Gonna forward this to my gf and a couple other hobbyists. But I want to ask your advice on a thing if I may:
The only thing that bothers me about this, and the RC4WD one, is the location of the front axle vs the leading edge of the fender. On the real one the axle is forward enough that the leading edge of the tire profile extends a little farther than the fender overhang. It’s my favorite accent on the whole thing and likewise on the WW2 Jeep, but it’s extremely rare to see anyone get it right in scale at all. Matchbox and Johnny Lightning get it right in 1/64 tho the latter brand has QC issues. Only some 1/35’s get it right.
No one does it right out of the box in RC tho you can adjust a WPL a bit. In this one’s case it hurts because the model does virtually everything else right. Is it as simple as longer links and shaft?
Yeah It seems that you would need longer links. The driveshaft may still work and there is a possibility that the steering could need some adjustment.
@@AMPROEngineering what sort of adjustment for the steering tho
Is the stock tire removable from the plastic rim and not glued to it?
Yes! this is how I installed the wheels I made. The stock tires are just attached with a bead lock.
This should be leaf springs, and you are right either 4 link or three and panhard bar, like the wheels, yes drag brake needs turning down.
Did you forget the screen film or is the screen a bit scratched up.
Yeah while this should be leaf spring, the 4 links make it a lot more fun to drive. I did leave it on there since I totally forgot it.

Funny when we play like kids and kids take us back to adult reality😊
Very true!
Hello, greetings, what tires and wheels did you put on it, thank you
Check out episode 435. They are the stock tires on AMPro designed wheels.
Hello, where did you get these Wheelcaps from?
These are AMPro caps designed for this truck. I will cover them in 2 weeks. they are multipart caps that need zero masking. I show them in this video
Good lord the detail
Yeah its nuts.
Nice wheels you put in there. Where can I buy them? Is it possible you could give me the link please?
Thanks, these are an AMPro design that I will go over in 3 weeks. They are 3D printed in SLA and due to how they are assembled, zero paint masking or detailing is needed.
@@AMPROEngineering Sounds good bro. Can you ship them to Seoul, Korea? If yes, I will definitely buy them.
Where you found this rims?
These are AMPro designed wheels. Check out episode 435 where you can find the options on where to get them.
I think this would look amazing in cream, the FJ40 cream.
wink wink :))
7:56 agreed
*beige
This truck screams out to be accessorized, jerry can, baggage, spare on the roof, some off road lighting, stickers etc
I think there's 3-5 more vids with this, love it.
...yeah needs electronics fix too.
Nice video wheels name?
I will cover these AMPro designed wheels shortly.
What ever happened with the power outage the other day ? Everybody ok
That was crazy live stream
LOL! No idea. It was out for a few hours so it must have been something good!
I prefer a small remote as well. Easier to pack up, and isn't the first thing people notice.... Which is good, I would like people to notice the little car driving around before the goon with the non-cell phone in hand. Bonus points if the remote somehow fits inside the vehicle for when I go shelf it for a month while I play with my other toys lol
hahah! Yeah that is always funny. For me, I do not see a need for a huge radio for the sake of being huge. For some reason, people seem to dislike the smaller ones.
Don’t need battery strap really. I installed inner fenders to hold everything in place and looks much better. Also put in a Fusion Pro and white Injora wagon wheels , much better
I really need to swap the ESC. Its just awful.
@@AMPROEngineering yup
I almost wish you wouldn't make these excellent videos. I always end up wanting to buy the car you review, and my collection is starting to take over the house.
LOL! As I say to many, my sincere apologies.
That mirror mount reminds me of an RC4WD bumper I have for my Gelande II D110, I had to install like a 15mm m3 screw with an allen key. It was horrible...
But those wheels would look great on a...probably a humvee?...Maybe a military/mercenary themed thing?...maybe under the proline strikeforce MRAP body?...they 100% don't fit on this or the Mashigan. And raw plastic black is very much not the right color for em.
Also I can't say I've seen 5 link on the front of a vehicle, but I've seen it used on vehicles with captive coil suspension in the rear, to help keep the axle centered because of just how bad captive coils are.
that shot at 13:15 is amazing. It has a child.
In all seriousness, the body is detailed amazingly to the point it makes the RC4WD body look like a blurry picture! but why is it the size of semi truck?!...Well I know why, using off the shelf parts is cheap and cheerful but the problem is that you end up with...the worlds largest J40 Land Cruiser...
It is just a touch annoying that to get a Land Cruiser that matches the size of the tried n' true Hilux bodies, I have to 3D print and scratchbuild it....Of course I'm in the minority and I know a lot of people won't care a bit about these things.
I do wonder what FMS will come out with next in their hardbody series of vehicles...Maybe a Nissan Hardbody? heh.
Can you make mounts for something and 1. not realize you cant access the hole & 2. not test it once complete? Lol yeah the WPL looks like its baby, hahah!
I agree, it looks amazing but its massive. They did it to maintain the chassis size but damn, still. No i agree, I have the WPL thats too small at 1/12 and this thats nearly double.
I am hoping...hoping so much for a nissan 720 or a hardbody from ANYONE!
First! I'm the first to comment!
Well done lol
The wheels are fms generic. Are actually China crawler generic. Mashigan and atlas had them. It’s a shame because the prototypes had bfgoodrich looking tires and steelies. The wheels from the jimmy and 1/6 Willy’s would have probably been better.
Yeah quite a shame that they went with those.
Put a hobbywing 1080 , Treal beadlocks , yeah racing 65mm big bore shocks and a set of 3d printed inner fenders on mine . Esc makes it alot nicer to drive. The shocks greatly improved the ride, far less floppy as it goes along . Also removed a top link so its now 3 link with panhard. It will eventually get a weathered paint job. I also cut the 6 little posts on the roof rack down by 3 -4mm to have it fit closer to the roof
I have the 1080 already and put thicker oil in the shocks. Massive improvement and for wheels, all set there with mine. Not a fan of bead locks. The inner fenders are a must!
