    Morning Derek.
    Another great job done on the service & trim added. Definitely tidies the door up.
    What a bu##er about the exhaust mount, if you know anyone with a welder, get them to tack it on. I feel an exhaust centre would try to rip u off for a new rear box just because of that hanger.
    Also, I didn't like my suggestion of a name for the new chariot either 🙈🙈
    Hope ya self & Freda r feeling better.
    Stay lucky. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

    10 bolts for air filter. Well bloody, that's a secure filter. Ford is scared they fly away. You are working with gloves on, that's very good. I've seen a lot of dumbs working without. Never mind the health :)

    . Having watched your oil change video I decided to tackle the job on my recently acquired Fusion. Some brainless oik had stripped the thread in the drain plug! I did wonder why there was a lump of rubber round the plug. I've ordered a new plug and will carefully try cleaning up the thread in the sump with a 10mm tap. If it doesn't hold with the copper washer I'll try PTFE tape on the thread. Wish me luck!

      Good Luck! At least it means the oil has been changed in the past!

      @@sleepycatpictures1176 I sincerely hope so at over 60k!
      The new plug fitted OK with the tape and as an extra precaution I used a fibre washer as well as the copper one, tightening it just sufficiently and not overdoing it.

    Excellent video! Is this the same process for the 1.6 petrol, or are the bits in different places etc?

    • @sleepycatpictures1176
      @sleepycatpictures1176  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oo that's a really good question that I wish I had an answer to. Don't know to be honest. But I should imagine things should not be that different. The Haynes manual says the 1.4 and 1.6 are very similar.

    Did you have to jack the car up to do either the oil or oil filter change? Can't see any in the video so wondering if it's possible to get under the car without jacks as i need to change oil and filter on my fusion.

    • @sleepycatpictures1176
      @sleepycatpictures1176  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. My drive is on a slope so I park at the top on the apex. There is enough room to get under anyway as the car sits fairly high.

    you want to seal the washer jets use some silicone under the jets prevents water getting into the spark plug wells and rust the welsh plugs and coolant pours out/overheats common problem with these

    Hi,
    I just had a 4th cylinder misfire error code (P0304) and check the spark plug well, there was a nice amount of water inside. I cleaned up and replaced the spark plugs.
    According to the service manual the spark plug connectors must be coated with silicone grease to prevent water getting inside.
    What is you thought about this ?
    "Name & Specification: Silicone grease ESE-M1C171-AA
    CAUTION: Use a suitable blunt object to avoid damage to the spark plug connector gasket. Coat the inside of the spark plug connector with silicone grease to depth of 5-10 mm."

      That's news to me. Can't say I'm surprised though. Without an undershield, the engine is vulnerable to deep puddle splashes. Sounds like a Ford fix. Might be a good idea. Personally, I try to avoid puddles anyway, but in the dark, not always possible.

    Derek which do you prefer petrol or diesel fusion?

    • @sleepycatpictures1176
      @sleepycatpictures1176  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For a lighter more nimble ride, it has to be the petrol. For economy, fuel and road tax, it has to be the diesel. Quite enjoying the novelty of a petrol manual at the moment! Tax for the petrol is £210. Cheap Heap is £30.
