She is not actually re-inventing herself, rather trying to dispell the long-held image of her as the "angelic little girl who sings opera", a narrative imposed upon her by AGT and perpetuated by the media. She's tired of being thought of as the 10 year old who isn't allowed to grow up. That's why she competed on The Masked Singer, wanting to demonstrate the versatile adult artist she has become. This performance of A Millioni Dreams from her album was an intentional contrast to her audition performance for World's Got Talent, which was her Puccini medley of Nessun Dorma/O Mio Babbino Caro. She continues to perform her classical crossover repertoir in concerts along with her Broadway songs.

If Jackie was "trying hard to be a pop star" she wouldn't be recording music by Joni Mitchell. Serious professional advice would be welcome but it interests me how much the role of luck or chance figures in the careers of even the most talented, like JE,.
Jackie had begun competing in regional talent shows at age 7, usually taking second place to older contestants. She had twice auditioned on AGT and was not accepted. Subsequently, her mother submitted a TH-cam video of Jackie's performance of Panis Angelicus from a mini concert she performed at age 9 to be voted on for acceptance. It got the highest votes of all the TH-cam submissions and won her the live audition spot on the show. She sang "O Mio Babbino Caro" and advanced to ultimately finish as the season's runner up to a 30 year old Blues singer. This, as we know, led to an historic career, one for the ages with an astounding list of achievements that will likely never be equaled. Was that luck? Not really. Rather a determined effort to get Jackie noticed for about 2 years which led to a circumstance that brought an extremely talented child and potential "super-star" to the attention of the world and those with influence to make it happen. Jackie was and is the real deal, never having relied upon anything but her innate talent, musical prowess, love of singing, and those who have believed in her. Prior to AGT, at age 9, Jackie met legendary producer, David Foster, at one of his talent competitions in her region. She auditioned and ultimately placed runner-up again to an older competitor, Christopher Dallo. Consequently, David had his eye on Jackie during her time on AGT. Before the season ended, he was instrumental together with AGT producer, Simon Cowell and Syco Music/Columbia records in getting Jackie signed to a record contract to produce "Oh Holy Night" which made Jackie the youngest Platinum selling artist in US history. With command performances in Great Britain, Japan, and Russia, another album certified Gold, a solo concert for PBS Great Performances, a second PBS special solo concert, and performances on tour nation-wide, she became a multi-millionaire at age 12.....
She wants to be the rock star, but apparently its her fans that are keeping her down. Outside of classical crossover, she's just not going to make any real money. If she really wants a career in music, she should ride that 'angelic little girl who sings opera' for all its worth. And be happy she has her niche.
Jackie has had a "career in music" since she was 10 years old....a multi-millionaire at age 12. At age 18, she was acknowledged the 5th richest teenager in the world. Jackie has said repeatedly that she will not abandon the classical crossover genre, and she hasn't. That has not kept her from succeeding in expanding her repertoire across multiple genres, as evidenced by 8 chart-topping albums. Since age 10, she has recorded/performed classical, opera, classic pop, jazz, symphonic metal, movie themes, Christian, R&B, country, Broadway, 3 Christmas albums, contemporary pop and even a couple of rock songs from musical theater. This peformance of A Million Dreams is from her Broadway album, The Debut, a song from the musical drama, The Greatest Showman. Her ambition from the beginning has been to sing anything and everything she is capable of, not wanting to be limited to a "niche". Consequently she has become the most versatile young soprano of this century. If anything has "kept her down", as it were, it's been that image of her as "the little girl who sings opera" imposed upon her by AGT and perpetuate by the media....she is not and never has been an opera singer, and she's certainly not that little girl anymore. Here's what she said about that in her first interview on The Masked Singer. th-cam.com/video/hEKwylGJP6c/w-d-xo.html
These WGT songs are lovely, well-recorded and videographed, and Jackie sounds wonderful and looks beautiful, but...they are some years too late for her American fans. Why do we see them only now, after many have moved on to other artists because there was such a lack of material to see and hear for so long? The people managing her videos and social media have always seemed overly protective. I remember going to JE concerts where the public was required to place cell phones in lockers, guards searched purses on the way in looking for phones in those days, not bombs, and guards during a performance threatened to expel people if they saw a cell phone out in the event somebody smuggled one in. Why? Why shut down one of the very best forms of free promotion available for any artist? And now we see these lovely recordings, several years too late. What a head scratcher.
This is a different publisher. Got Talent Global posted her introduction and the performance of her Puccini medley with judges comments soon after the episode aired...May, 2019. The video is available on TH-cam.....titled "jackie evancho returns and amazes....". "Why shut down one of the very best forms of FREE promotion available....? Precisely because fan-made videos of concert performances are amateurish, usually of poor audio quality, and not good representations of her performances. Also because Jackie receives no income from them. Jackie is a professional concert performer, not in business to provide free entertainment. Even her official videos provide income. Boot-legged concert performance videos are not advantageous to her, rather only providing an opportunity for detractors and trolls to ridicule.
@@cl9786 You sound like JE's dad. If you don't see the value of amateurish, poor-quality videos that pay her nothing except tons and tons of new fans, then nothing I can say will change your mind. Despite her gorgeous voice, JE's career is languishing. To promote her new album, she has been able to line up a few minor appearances at concert halls frequented largely by very, very old people. Old people are fine. I am one of them myself. But we are not her future. Her future was the excited amateurs posting poor-quality videos of her concerts way back when. They have mostly moved on.
@@brucebenson5908 The fan-made videos I've seen of her most recent concert in Florida are terrible, bad audio and visual. How can they be of "value" except to her existent fans who are thankful for anything that's available, because they can't attend a concert? I'm an older long-time fan myself, and I'd rather see good quality recordings that represent her accurately. They certainly are not good promotional material, and they do not "Pay her tons and tons of new fans"? Just look at the view counts and comments. Her performances on Masked Singer were a wonderful promotional opportunity that gained her countless new fans, but unfortunately the pandemic prevented her from capitalizing on it. Her new album, "Carousel of Time" has been promoted on PEOPLE, JUST JARED and MSN with an interview article and video of her recent single release, "Both Sides Now" (Have you seen it?). Her only scheduled concert is July 24th at the Ocean City Music Pier, nothing scheduled beyond that yet. See her newly re-designed website. Further promotions will be forthcoming as the release date of "late summer" approaches. Furthermore, don't forget that Jackie only recently returned from a 2 year absence because of serious illness and a broken back that kept her out of the public, and that's why there's been a "lack of material for so long". Also the album production which began in Oct. of 2020 has been delayed several times, though the instrumentals and vocals were completed a year ago. In brief, all that is appropriate to promoting her professionally is being managed in accordance with priorities.
CL, I'm glad you too are a fan but I worry that you and I are too late to do her any good. You say she only recently returned because of serious illness and a broken back! I am a fairly dedicated fan and that is all news to me. Fans not only want to connect but need to know about their star in order to retain a sense of continuity and connection. Bad news such as illness and a broken back (!?!) are as important to know about as good news. Another one of my stars, the very young Patricia Janeckova, recently was diagnosed with breast cancer and she informed us, her fans, about this awful development. We don't look for or accept negative news in any sort of untoward way. But such news lets us retain our sense of community with the artist. But with JE we get only the rare, highly polished, highly filtered stuff or nada. Doesn't built a community. Go look for her fan club community, which used to be vibrant and now is moribund. Even her famous fan/nemesis, Rick Olsen, gave up, recently posting this comment, "She hasn't done anything in years so there's nothing to say. She doesn't communicate with fans so we don't even know if she's still alive." Go to YT and enter "Jackie Evancho reactors." You will find very, very little unlike other singers in her league of fame and talent (try Grace Vanderwaal, Connie Talbott, Angelina Jordan). These reactors, aka influencers, keep the star's persona in front of the fans while waiting for their next music. Grace and Angelina get, without exaggerating, hundreds up to thousands of reactors to their previous music and each reactor post often draws thousands, tens of thousands, of views -- sometimes using bad-quality fan videos. JE is a rare talent. I was smitten with the quality of her voice when she was a child and I feel the same way now when she is a young adult with her newest Joni Mitchell release. If anything, she is even better. On top of it all, she has gone through adolescence as a famous girl and come out the other side seeming to be a genuinely likable person unlike others such as Grace. So I am rooting for Jackie. But I fear that like surfing, that once the wave has passed her by, she may not get the chance to ride another. Especially if you and others insist that she only show up for the polished, perfect, greatest waves produced by the very best, ignoring all those amateur wavelets of lesser quality. It is 2022 and that's not the way others are doing it.
@@brucebenson5908 LOL. Rich Olsen hasn't had anything positive to say about Jackie and her music for many years, saying she hasn't produced anything worthwhile to him since she was 11. Don't know why he's kept that forum going except in support of antagonists and naysayers. I left there disgusted with it, as have many dedicated and enthusiastic fans. We of the fan community have known the reasons for her absence since she posted a lengthy announcement Nov. of last year on Instagram prior to her Christmas concert in Millersville, PA on Dec. 17th. Where have you been? In it she explained why she hadn't communicated on social media for nearly a year. Now she is getting back to being herself and asks for our patience and understanding. So, give her a break and stop the doom and gloom commentary. She doesn't need that. Jackie is doing things the way she and her professional team see fit. What you can do, as a "fairly dedicated fan" is buy her albums and attend a concert when you can, what everyone can do in support of her music and career.
A child of 10 "fabricated" a voice? LMAO. Still can't accept a child prodigy having become famous around the world and a multi-millionaire at age 12 with a voice so pure it naturally brought tears to thousands in awe.

None of those concerts have been cancelled. More bookings likely as venues open to full capacity. The album, her 9th, is expected to be released late summer/early fall.' Furthermore, her latest single is a cover of legendary Joni Mitchell's, "River" (known by us all from the 70s) which demonstrated her being inspired by music from past generations.....having included Karen Carpenter, Bill Withers, Johnny Mathis, Donovan, and others.
There was nothing fabricated about Jackies early voice, other than talent and depth way beyond her years.
Good listen to her true voice and not the fabricated one she used in her early career.
A child of 10 "fabricated" a voice? LMAO. Still can't accept a child prodigy having become famous around the world and a multi-millionaire at age 12 with a voice so pure it naturally brought tears to thousands in awe.
She went thru voice changes as she matured this allowed her to expand her vocal range and bring us "Kitty" th-cam.com/video/b9z36phZ6ys/w-d-xo.html
@@cl9786 What is the latest news with her. There is so little information on YT. Almost no comments from, not even from her ardent fans. No interest at all as they already left her. Perhaps that is her goal, hide for 5-10 years to get rid of all of her former/older fans and after that start from scratch and find a new audience.
@@yogajedi3337 No one has mentioned having left Jackie, rather fans are patiently awaiting her return from a well-deserved hiatus since Dec, understandably absent from social media. Recent announcement from her producer, Fred Mollin/Melody Place Music (her new label): "With things on hold during the pandemic, we are encouraged now to start the next round of recording for her first full album for Melody Place. More news soon". She is probably in the studio completing the album. Furthermore, she is reschedule for 3 concerts in Florida, Nov.4th, 6th and 7th as her national tour resumes this fall. None of those concerts have been cancelled. More bookings likely as venues open to full capacity. The album, her 9th, is expected to be released late summer/early fall.'
Edit: Btw, her "older fans" are growing "with her, not against" her. Seems to pleasure you to ridiculer her fans as lacking interest in her and her music as an adult. Furthermore, her latest single is a cover of legendary Joni Mitchell's, "River" (known by us all from the 70s) which demonstrated her being inspired by music from past generations.....having included Karen Carpenter, Bill Withers, Johnny Mathis, Donovan, and others.
There was nothing fabricated about Jackies early voice, other than talent and depth way beyond her years. But now that he has fully matured, she still has the stunning high notes, emotional attachment to the song, and classical depth of her early voice, but she has now successfully expanded into many other genres as well, with her Kitty voice.
Here's why the Nashville sessions musicians can't stop talking about Jackie's "Carousel of Time." th-cam.com/video/Np8CJw2X-VA/w-d-xo.html
She looks so much like Jackie Evancho. She's just an okay singer though.
Because she is Jackie Evancho
@@jrvillacruz8517 Lol, you're right. Amazing what a couple of beers can do. :)
Its Jackie Evancho singing a Million Dreams as a Mezzo rather than Lyric Soprano. An amazing vocal feat by any measure and a wonderful display of Jackie's vocal ranges.
@@rehoboth2721 She's still a lyric soprano as she always been. At 2:34 is her natural bright voice, something she rarely showcased in her early career, because and now it comes....... her natural voice is a little bit shrill isn't it hahahaha.
@@yogajedi3337 I hear no shrillness in either young or younger Jackie Evancho and neither does anyone else? I hear a new and expanding Mezzo as she showed us on the Masked Singer. th-cam.com/video/b9z36phZ6ys/w-d-xo.html
playback cheater
Sorry thats not accurate, Evancho unlike so many is the real deal.
Nothing special!
The 19yo multi-Platinum classical Soprano took the WGT semi-finals to show her first Power Pop song to the public. Now at 24 she's produced a top 20 and rising EP called "Solla" no synth, no beat box, no ghost writers no army of sound engineers. If you think there's nothing special here, think again. th-cam.com/video/-kE7xXjpONA/w-d-xo.html
It was special when you consider it was performed on World's Got Talent featuring the best talent contestants from around the world. Also, because it followed her performance of an opera medley to show her versatility as a classical crossover artist.
She's trying too hard to be a Pop singer.... when she's just not good at it. Sorry, but almost all her original songs are just plain bad. Boring and generic. She should stick to Classical, or a genre that is more adaptable to a Classical singer
In what way is she trying to hard to be a Pop singer? Try and be a little more specific.
Do you know that her other performance on World's Got Talent is her Puccini medley, O Mio Babbino Caro/Nessun Dorma? It's become her concert encore number. Just search jackie evancho returns and amazes...
@@cl9786 Of course he does. Just another ZERO content Troll.
Ida know, I thought she was kinda boring
Try a little less sugar.
