Of all the weird decisions Disney's made recently, I never thought bringing back the "Belle's Magical World" method of making sequels would be one, but here we are.
This method takes me back to when I had my childhood buddy Amanda McQuaid (early early 2000s which was the same time Disney churned out those endless Winnie the Pooh sequels) but let’s be real here some of those DTV’s were absolute bangers
Ah yes, but the difference with Belle's Magical World and Moana 2 is that the former's sections were originally conceived as 3 separate episodes. Whilst Moana 2 was meant to be a miniseries of episodes that would've told one overall story, hence why Moana 2 feels more consistent
Honestly this makes me glad Tangled got a tv show instead of an actual sequel. Not only did it serve as a great continuity of the movie, but it actually cared about the characters and all the original cast returned. Even Alan Menken wrote the music for the show, and nearly every song is a masterpiece in its own right. I fear Moana 2’s financial success is just going to prompt Disney to make lazier sequels, remakes and cash grabs over actually getting their act together to make good original content
I’m sure it won’t prompt that. The only reason this sequel exists as an emergency for quick cash. If it weren’t for the failures of Strange World and Wish as well as a planned original animated film by Suzi Yoonessi having too many story problems, Moana 2 would have remained Moana the Disney+ series. No other upcoming sequel was in the position Moana 2 was in, all starting as theatrical films, so they’ll have the time they’ll need to make the films the best they can be especially with Jared Bush now in charge who has more confidence in the original vision of films as shown by the films he had a major role in creating, unlike the previous chief creative officer Jennifer Lee.
I like a couple of the songs, and I'm interested in all the things they set up for the 3rd movie, but other than that, it's nothing special. They really should've kept it a Disney Plus series.
It reminds me of when Disney put "Olaf's Frozen Adventure" in front of "Coco" instead of keeping it as a television short like was planned. Their reasoning was that the overall look and animation was so beautiful that it just HAD to be seen on the big screen, despite being about 22 minutes long and people wanting to see "Coco" instead of a near half hour long Frozen short. I feel like that was just the start of Disney making poor decisions. Some things that are made for the small screen should stay on the small screen, even if the animation is beautiful.
@@DocZFluxI found him tolerable in the first Frozen movie, but oh my God, he didn't need to be in the second one. He's basically walking exposition with an uninteresting arc about growing up.
Agreed! Beautiful animation is pretty much wasted on a bad story. If the story works for a tv series, then KEEP IT ON THE TV. I mean, that Tangled tv series remained on tv and it was better received. The same should've applied to Frozen 2. Beautiful animation but was accompanied by a clumsy story, wasted new characters, underdeveloped original character and, and poorly fleshed out ideas.
@@jacindaellison3363oh, I couldn’t stand him from the beginning because A. I don’t like Josh Gad in general and B. them ENDLESSLY repeating the joke that he doesn’t realize he’d melt in warm weather was very annoying. Sven was the far better comic relief character.
Wow I forgot about that, I was mad at the time. Not only was I not interested in an short starring Olaf to begin with, I was seeing Coco for my birthday.
Coincidentally this movie was released the same year Disney cancelled Hailey’s On It after only 1 season. For those who don’t know, Moana and Hailey are both voiced by actress and singer Auliʻi Cravalho 🌺🌊🥥🌴🪝🐔🐷
This really feels like Disney was trying to make up for this being a full movie and not a Disney Plus series by essentially using this as a setup film for what I'm sure will be an impressive end to the trilogy. That's fine on its own but it leaves this movie feeling like a big budget version of one of those direct to video sequels that Disney made in the 90s and 2000s.
But at least Zootopia 2 has always been planned to be a movie and not a series like Moana 2 and at least Byron Howard, who directed the first movie is coming back to direct the sequel which I don’t feel that concerned about it
@@EvansDisneysAnimationFilmFanif I were Disney, I would never bring in new directors to do the second film. I would just bring back the old ones that did the first one and to what made the first film strong in the first place. And make the running time up to: 119 minutes to get everything originised and finished and solved quick.
I disagree a little. The songs were the worse part for me. I liked the story some. But it was the songs for me. Plus there really wasn't that many of them in the sequal compared to the first film
A 6.5 definitely feels like the perfect rating for this film. It’s honestly not a full-blown sequel to Moana in the same vein as something like the Toy Story sequels and feels like more or less a disposable filler arc, which makes sense when this was originally meant to be a series. But at the very least, the creators did the best they could with what they had, and from what they set up at the end, hopefully Moana 3 will have a lot more care and effort put into it instead of just being a quick cashgrab.
It was made as an emergency for quick success after two back to back failures. I highly doubt this will become the norm for future animated films, sequel or original, especially with a better more qualified figure serving as chief creative officer.
If the people behind 'Moana 2’ were giving more time to rework the story, along with bringing back Lin-Manuel Miranda to fix some plot points, this could've been delayed for a March 2025 release and had a better chance with its quality. Other than that, my personal complement to the sequel is giving Pua more screen time.
@@BigLightning4360 They were given more time to rework the story. What do you mean bringing back Lin-Manuel Miranda to fix some plot points? He doesn’t write these movies
Even though this movie got mixed reviews from critics, there’s one thing we must keep in mind. Disney Animation doesn’t have a lot of sequels in their collection with Moana 2 being their fifth sequel in their history and they’re new at it too. What I’m basically saying is that I can see them progressively get better with sequels like how they got better with CGI cuz you know, practice makes perfect, or progress in this case. Regardless of what you guys may think of Moana 2, at least it gave WDAS a box office hit they desperately needed like how Inside Out 2 was the box office smash Pixar desperately needed. So next year, we’ll stay tuned when Disney gives the ZPD a second phone call. In other words, stay tuned for Zootopia 2. While I’m open to see if they can elevate their sequel skills with that one, the best thing to do is wait with caution and patience. Of course, I’d love to see if that can be like Inside Out 2 where the critics and audiences say “it’s not as good as the original but still great”. I wish them the best of luck.
Same! And it’s very understandable why they have turn the Moana series into a sequel given that they’re panicking after last year being their worst year, and I’m very happy that they manage to recover with mega hits like Deadpool & Wolverine and Inside Out 2. It’s also worth noting that WDAS will have a new original movie for 2026, so there is hope that they can still bring out some bangers.
@@Toontastic_Juju even Jared Bush is the new head. They had a rough past 4 years at the box office with Strange World and Wish flopping on top of underwhelming reviews and both Raya and Encanto (both of which that were well received) being released on Disney Plus due to covid. About that unnamed original film for 2026, yeah that’s true. Yes I’m sure their still capable of released critically acclaimed films regardless
@@Toontastic_Juju he’s the new head of the studio, too! Yes I’m excited for too although I do admit that I’m slightly nervous because I don’t know what will be the story they’ll have since I’ve always presumed the first movie is meant to be standalone. Like you said, the fact that Howard and Bush are back is a relief that it’ll be in good hands
The sequel is alright, I’m kinda glad that I didn’t get too excited because it’s no big surprise that it was going to be a tv show. And with Zootopia 2 coming out, I’m honestly more hyped for that film, especially that it is going to be more straightforward as a film.
@@03mbc I bet they will not because at least it is going to feel more like a movie and Byron Howard, who directed the first movie is going to be back directing the sequel

I have a deep feeling that Walt Disney Animation Studios will be in the same bottom of the barrel that pre-Spider-Verse-Movie Sony used to be, where now they’re making movies that were not gonna be both critically & financially successful at the same time, just one or the other.
Can we not treat animation like Consol wars I mean really even if they didn’t turn out good movies recently that doesn’t make them a bad studio honestly, can you not blame the people that worked on the movie because can you stop treating animation like console wars I mean, the chief creative Officer at Walt Disney animation Studios Jared Bush loved the wild robot and he said that animation is not a competition. It’s art just like Pete Docter said at Pixar I mean, they will make amazing films again just give them time actually and let them cook You’re just over exaggerating I mean there is so much talented people at Walt Disney animation Studios honestly can we treat animation like a family rather than a sports competition because honestly I feel like your comment is just very hypocritical and way too biased as well
@@TheGeekzNetwork They have an ebb and flow with the overall results in their history where you got their stronger eras and weaker eras. Also, Zootopia 2 will be next! There’s still hype for it. History has proven that even in their weaker eras, WDAS is still capable of making well received films.
Guess Moana is now becoming like Frozen, where the first movie was highly praised and the sequel received a huge divide between those who like it and others who really hate it. And with the live-action remake happening in 2 years, it's going to get really ugly and soulless.
I find it very stupid that they're still doing the live action remake, despite the fact that they made an animated sequel. I get that. This was originally meant to be a TV show. But what's their excuse to have that live action remake now?
At least they've learned from Frozen 2 when it comes to making the next 2 sequels. When you watch the behind scenes series of Frozen 2, you'll realise that they had a bit of a tight schedule when it came to making it. However, for Frozen 3 and 4, those 2 films will be the same story split into 2 parts, which is a good sign, because it means they're not going to rush the next chapter and try to fit everything they want to tell into 1 film
Not as good as the first, but I will say that I did enjoy most of what Moana 2 offered, from the visuals, the songs, to some of the new characters(like Simea, Moana’s sister and Matangi). I give it a 7 for my overall experience.
It’s wasn’t a perfect movie but who says it *has* to be. It was fucking great! And funny too 😂 I’d say simea and that other female character were kinda useless. And the songs weren’t as iconic (except I’ll go beyond) but that’s all I’ve got. 7.5/10 for me
After hearing that Moana 2 was meant to be a tv series for Disney Plus, it instantly made me think Disney’s early direct to video sequels like Belle’s magical World and Milo’s Return that were also originally TV shows but were scrapped. Everything from how the story, the songs and even abit of the animation just felt off compared to the first movie. While it does have a lot of problems I’d overall say the movie is just kind of forgettable and harmless, like if you absolutely loved the first Moana movie and just love these characters, you’ll most likely not be disappointed. While Moana 2 isn’t awful and it may not be as bad as Wish, or some of Disney’s other recent films, but it’s still kind of forgettable.
Let me explain it like this: Moana 2 is like a coloring book for children. Children love the pretty figures and they like coloring them. The story is simply bad written garbage. Alas, the children don't care about reading the story anyway. Imagine it sold 2 billion copies world wide then. Critics write review after review singing praises about how amazing the writing of the coloring book is. They even go as far as calling it a masterpiece of literally proportions above Shakespeare or The Epic of Gilgamesh. Why? Because it sold 2 billion copies of course! It MUST BE because of it's masterful writing right? Nope. It's just the pretty figures. Now, Moana 2 as a movie is the same. Nice animation, garbage writing/story. But the critics bark at anyone who points that fact out.
❤️💖 With Jared Bush being the new head for Walt Disney Animation Studios, maybe it could be a new refresh start with Walt Disney Animation Studios and Zootopia 2 next year would be critical and commercial success. 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤️
@danielgudinojuarez6729 What about DreamWorks and Illumination? They played their movies way too safe too. For example, Kung Fu Panda 4 is way too light hearted, comedy and sugar coated compared to the trilogy and it isn't as dark or action packed as the second film. The film's message of change feels extremely force like how would Shifu force Po to retire from being the Dragon Warrior instead of someone else? Isn't that Po's decision not Shifu? Nobody forced Oogway to become the spiritual leader and Oogway wasn't the spiritual leader when the right time comes. Plus, why the hell Gru's daughters never age in Despicable Me 4 despite the fact that Gru age from the prequel to the sequels and Balthazar Bratt turned evil because Hollywood kicked him due to enter puberty? This honestly makes no sense. The fourth film focuses way too much on the comedy less on story and heart and there is too many subplot like the girls going to karate class and this subplot where the Minions get superpowers where they barley do anything in the film just to sell toys and the merchandise.
I agree that this film isn't as good as the original Moana, but I still had a lot of fun watching it in theaters. I didn't like most of the new characters since they didn't stand out much, and some, like Matangi, didn't reach their full potential when they easily could've, but the movie still had some awesome action scenes, some emotional content that had me shocked, and it was great to see Moana and Maui again, especially the latter because he was a blast to watch and had a lot of funny moments.
Your rating is exactly how I feel about this sequel. One thing I will say about the songs, though, is that at least they have some rhymes to the lyrics when compared to the songs from Wish which were just made by an AI.
Honestly, you have no proof that the songs and Wish were made by AI you have no idea what you’re talking about Honestly, don’t say that the songs were made by AI because it’s very disrespectful actually honestly I definitely think the take of the songs in Wish feel like they are AI generated is such cringe worthy take!!!!!!!!!!
I think part of the problem with original family movies struggling rn is critics try to have it both ways: they complain about lack of originality/films being too dour and downbeat but then tend to be overly critical of films that try to be a new ip and more upbeat in their stories which negatively affects initial word of mouth. It happened with Raya and the Last Dragon when it came out and (while not a Disney-owned film), it happened earlier this year with IF where, while it did find enough of an audience to stay in theaters over a fair chunk of the summer season, it wasn’t enough to overcome initially negative word of mouth resulting in a Ho-hum opening weekend despite not having any real direct competition.
I did solve the movie during Thanksgiving. It was pretty good. It’s not the level the original but it’s still a good sequel so far and I’m excited for Zootopia 2 next year
Don't worry. I'm pretty sure this Moana movie will fail if not be scrapped, given that thanks to "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" "Mufasa" might end up not keeping up with that competition, and who knows? If it and the "Snow White" remake fail, which WE can help make it happen, we might be seeing the end of those live-action remakes, or at least, Disney's era of them. In the end, it's all on US.
It sucks that the movie can't just be enjoyed instead people just wanna look for the stuff that makes THEM not like it, and can't appreciate other great things about the movie. Thats the animation community these days
Toy Story 4 started that terrible trend from that community! Toy Story 4 is a superb movie, but yet, GamingMagic13 started the trend by worrying too much on the negatives than the positives!
18:04 - 18:14 I was disappointed 😞 that Lin Manuel Miranda didn't return to write the music and songs for the Moana sequel. Why is it that Lin Manuel Miranda didn't return for Moana 2 and yet he joined to write music and songs for Mufasa the Lion King? That is not a good sign. Considering the fact the last time he wrote music and songs 🎵 for previous live action remake the Little Mermaid 🧜🏼♀️ last year with that Scuttlebutt cringe?
Honestly, I think your score is valid. I would've gone a tad bit lower, but I don't think it should be any higher. I saw the sequel earlier this week & if anything, it was very mid. It definitely had a "DTV (direct-to-video) sequel" vibe about it with the pacing and multitude of additions, and as a fan of those Disney sequels (yes, I like a lot of them - what about it?), it also felt like the folks in charge wanted it to resemble the original Moana film but tell a new adventure. At least it did add a nice plot & conflict for Moana... but it really should've been a longer movie or stayed a streaming show.
I liked it personally. The episodic format didn't bother me, even if it would have worked better as a series. Though I agree that the crew were mostly pointless to the film nor were they likable or funny.
In all honesty, I enjoyed this film for what it was. Yeah it’s nowhere near as good as the original and the songs are nowhere near as good but I didn’t think it was nearly as bad as people said. However I do think it should’ve been a TV series and it felt like one. A solid 8/10 in my opinion
Looks like we're on the same page. It is flawed, it's far from peak Disney, and I never even expected it to be as good as the original (imo they compare similarly to the two Wreck-it Ralph movies), but comparing it to direct to video movies is an insult it doesn't deserve.

At least Zootopia 2 is more like an actual sequel than Moana 2 mainly because hey at least it has always been planned to be a movie and we already know that it was planned to be a movie from the ground up
If we count the Pixar films, I think the last time Mat gave a recent Disney animated film a mixed score was with Cars 3. It’s been 7 years since he’s done that
@ no I don’t think we would count Animat’s Classic Reviews. If we do, then yeah Atlantis was the last time he gave one of the official Disney animated films a mixed score
It will still make money, but the impact won't be the same as the first movie. Ever since 2016 ended, Disney animation hasn't been the same ever since their focus went more to Disney+. Despite enjoying Raya and Encanto, those films do have flaws no different than Strange World or Wish. With Moana 2, it is a clear indication that it's a cash grab and a reason why turning a Disney Plus show into a feature doesn't mean it is a good sign. This is easily a skip; Zootopia 2 better not suck, but that's wishful thinking since the heads don't care about quality anymore. 😒😒😒

Inside Out 2 did bring back the billion dollar hit for Disney and Pixar Animation Studios after five years! 😃😀😄😁😊😉 👍🏻 💖❤️
Remember the last 2 times Disney tried to make a potential series into an “animated sequel film” with Belle’s Magical World and Milo’s Return? Not to say this film was as bad as those trainwrecks, far from it, but still, if you don’t learn history, you’re bound to repeat it.😑

Yeah, this is definitely not as good as the first film, but it was decent for it is and I will take this over the upcoming remake of the first film. Oh god, why are we getting remakes to movies like Moana and How to Train Your Dragon?!
I really liked the crazy Bat Lady who’s animated like Adam Sandler’s Count Dracula. But alas, her screen time was so small I can’t remember her name or the song she sang.
Here are a few stupid decisions Disney has made to their movies so far and why they sucked: 1. Strange World - Tried to pander to the SJWs 2. Wish - Scrapped it’s original concepts and played it WAY too safe with it’s plot 3. Moana 2 - Corporate Greed
I thought you were referring to Moana 3 in the ending and I was about to say I expect that to be better because it'll be paced like a movie again...and then I was reminded that live-action Moana is a thing.
I saw it last weekend, and i had fun watching it. But it was nowhere as good in quality or memorable. Allthough it had it's moments. All-in-all, it should've just been a series for Disney+ as originally intended.
My theory on why Disney did this was that because they desperately needed more money after the multiple bombs during the 2020 decades with Raya, Strange World, and Wish. After understanding the mixed results it got, I think it’s best that it should’ve stayed as a tv series. If they really wanted to make it a movie, they should’ve delayed it and extend scenes and narrative wise. Just because the animation looks good doesn’t automatically mean it can be put into theaters. At least I’ll take this over the upcoming live action remake
At least Zootopia 2 has always been planned to be a movie and not a TV show and Byron Howard who directed the first movie is coming back to direct the sequel and also it has been in development since 2017 and for a while actually and at least it’s taking longer to make actually so I don’t feel too concerned about it
It was never going to be a series like you think. Compare to the actual Disney plus shows, a few shorts that max 30 minutes together. Hence why they said the idea became bigger. Also this is still the best looking movie of the year.
Can you also do Disney classics that you haven't done like The Three Caballeros, Make Mine Music, Fun and Fancy Free, Melody Time, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, The Aristocats, Oliver and Company, Tarzan, Fantasia 2000, Dinosaur, Brother Bear, Home on the Range, Meet The Robinsons, and Bolt?
2:21 Ohhh that one I was mad at that one most. Also I can not get over the songs are a massive downgrade like seriously the soundtrack for Mufasa the Lion King released next Friday and if Lin cooks with that then Moana 2 is toast 23:19 bro you have no idea
As someone who found the first a little overrated Story 6/10 Animation 10/10 Characters 7/10 Songs 9/10 Overall 8/10 On par with the original maybe a little bit better
Main thoughts: why sequels, also before watching my movie, I set my expectations as low as possible, and I think I did the right call cuz it was kind of all right
I like they gave her some muscle. While i didn't see the show yet i heard great things about tangleds tv show i feel this would've done the same but hey atleast Disney made its money back already on the film
AniMat it felt more like Disney was repeating their mistake of making an animated TV Series out of animated movie and making it into a sequel and not learning from Belle's Magical World and Alantis: Milo's Return. They really should've stuck with having Moana 2 be a Disney Plus Animated Series than a cinematic sequel.
But hey, at least you don’t have to be too worried about Zootopia 2 because at least it has always been planned to be a movie and the same director who directed the first Zootopia and also directed Encanto as well is also coming back to direct the sequel as well and it has been in development for a while and ever since 2017 and at least it’s taking longer to make actually and I know that it had it first test screening in October 2023 and it went fantastic which definitely is a great sign for this movie and at least they are not rushing it out actually like Moana 2 where it’s basically a rushed out Disney+ show turned into a movie with stitched together episodes from the canceled TV series but at least I’m happy that Zootopia 2 is going to feel more organic and feel more like an actual movie unlike Moana 2 which definitely does make me happy about it

I haven't seen this movie yet, but it looks like my concerns with it's production history seems to be true. I'm fine with a sequel to Moana, but I'd prefer if it wasn't originally going to be that Disney+ series. I do get that Disney would want to make up for all the box-office bombs they had in the past few years, but still. Also, two .5 review scores in a row?! That's a bit crazy.

@@mcthetoonster1415I guess we'll have to see next year, then.
Hot Take: Olaf’s NOT a good character…he’s aggravatingly dumb instead of lovable dumb

"You can't top pigs with pigs."- Walt Disney
This really feels like Disney was trying to make up for this being a full movie and not a Disney Plus series by essentially using this as a setup film for what I'm sure will be an impressive end to the trilogy. That's fine on its own but it leaves this movie feeling like a big budget version of one of those direct to video sequels that Disney made in the 90s and 2000s.
But at least Zootopia 2 has always been planned to be a movie and not a series like Moana 2 and at least Byron Howard, who directed the first movie is coming back to direct the sequel which I don’t feel that concerned about it

@nas0518 I did last year unless Zootopia 2 & Mufasa the Lion King save it
What can I say except "OH GOD NO!?!"
Of course the movie was a financial hit, because Disney needs to learn the wrong lesson

Well frozen 2 was made to be a movie while Moana 2 was gonna be a series which it should’ve been
At least they've learned from Frozen 2 when it comes to making the next 2 sequels.
Surely better than the upcoming live-action film getting the seal of garbage…
Yeah, I can't imagine how tamatoa is gonna look like. SAVE ME!!!
And funny too 😂
I’d say simea and that other female character were kinda useless. And the songs weren’t as iconic (except I’ll go beyond) but that’s all I’ve got.
7.5/10 for me
Moana 2 is apparently another example of Disney proving that for the moat part, they are not good at making sequels.
Honestly, I feel Disney animation is just playing it safe and that's more of a concern than a benefit
Yeah it’ll be fascinating to see what direction he’ll take with the studio’s future. He’s a great guy
23:12 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 bro please don’t remind me LMAO.
🎵What can I say except no thank you🎵
🎵What a horrible world you know🎵
But Hey, Moana 2 and Wish are better than the Pointless Skydance Animation Disaster: Spellbound
Next thing you know in the next movie is a song called "tumua Oe
Your rating is exactly how I feel about this sequel. One thing I will say about the songs, though, is that at least they have some rhymes to the lyrics when compared to the songs from Wish which were just made by an AI.
Honestly, you have no proof that the songs and Wish were made by AI you have no idea what you’re talking about Honestly, don’t say that the songs were made by AI because it’s very disrespectful actually honestly I definitely think the take of the songs in Wish feel like they are AI generated is such cringe worthy take!!!!!!!!!!
@@EvansDisneysAnimationFilmFan My apologies
It’s not the level the original but it’s still a good sequel so far and I’m excited for Zootopia 2 next year
Well when the live action version comes out it'll help us appreciate this version way more
Don't worry.
That's how I feel about Wish; these days, they're pretty much just walking into the movie theater with popcorn in one hand and a gun in the other.
@sarahsims6164 they're complaining about the film so much to the point where it's like it killed their families.
It's called critical thinking. You can't just blindly love something.

Knew this review would sink here.
It’s basically a direct to video sequel by disneytoons in the theaters , except it’s Walt Disney animation
I liked it personally. The episodic format didn't bother me, even if it would have worked better as a series. Though I agree that the crew were mostly pointless to the film nor were they likable or funny.

At least Zootopia 2 has always been planned to be a movie and not a TV show and Byron Howard who directed the first movie is coming back to direct the sequel and also it has been in development since 2017 and for a while actually and at least it’s taking longer to make actually so I don’t feel too concerned about it
@ Yep, and that’s why I’m more ready for Zootopia 2
And if this equals stay as a TV series what other animated feature would take the release date of this year????
And if it stay as a TV series what other animated feature Disney can release this year????
Also I can not get over the songs are a massive downgrade like seriously the soundtrack for Mufasa the Lion King released next Friday and if Lin cooks with that then Moana 2 is toast
23:19 bro you have no idea
With this movie killing it at the box office, is it just me or do sequels do better financially then original films?
Do not support this movie. It sets a shitty practice for animation in making movies that studios should not follow.
Well it looks like the Disney cheapquels are back.
As someone who found the first a little overrated
Story 6/10
Animation 10/10
Characters 7/10
Songs 9/10
Overall 8/10
On par with the original maybe a little bit better
Main thoughts: why sequels, also before watching my movie, I set my expectations as low as possible, and I think I did the right call cuz it was kind of all right
Why not make Tamatoa the main villain?
Can you please do a review of Peter Pan 2 in Return to Neverland which I know is way better than this sequel?
I like they gave her some muscle. While i didn't see the show yet i heard great things about tangleds tv show i feel this would've done the same but hey atleast Disney made its money back already on the film
We should have a review of the Magic School Bus animated series on this chanel one day.
I don’t think he’s going to review preschool shows….
Ah come on Moana 2 was a huge Disney animated sequel ever it was one of the huge box of his since Inside Out 2.
Just about everyone is comparing this to the direct to dvd sequels of the old days
But hey, at least you don’t have to be too worried about Zootopia 2 because at least it has always been planned to be a movie and the same director who directed the first Zootopia and also directed Encanto as well is also coming back to direct the sequel as well and it has been in development for a while and ever since 2017 and at least it’s taking longer to make actually and I know that it had it first test screening in October 2023 and it went fantastic which definitely is a great sign for this movie and at least they are not rushing it out actually like Moana 2 where it’s basically a rushed out Disney+ show turned into a movie with stitched together episodes from the canceled TV series but at least I’m happy that Zootopia 2 is going to feel more organic and feel more like an actual movie unlike Moana 2 which definitely does make me happy about it
@@EvansDisneysAnimationFilmFan Disney managed to doge a bullet with their other 2016 Animated Movie. I'm really glad that Zootopia 2 isn't going to get the same treatment as Moana 2.
Are they still doing in house animation? Even though they got a Vancouver location
Yes, they are still doing in-house animation, especially Walt Disney animation Studios in Burbank is entirely animating Zootopia 2 entirely in the house, considering that it always has been planned to be a movie and not a reworked television show like Moana 2 so I don’t feel too concerned about it
I asked my cousin what she thought about this after hearing from my aunt, and she said this movie sank. I wanted to compare her opinion to Mat’s, so I assume she’d give this less than he did.
I love Moana
It’s not a bad movie, but it could have been better as a Streaming Series instead of a Theatrical Movie.
Sadly bad timing due to the fact it’s released at the same time as wicked which people would watch this than another Disney sequel
But at least I’m happy that Zootopia 2 has always been planned to be a movie and not a TV show like Moana 2 because at least it’s going to feel more organic and honestly the idea of the movie including reptiles in it sounds really exciting and very promising and honestly, it looks more interesting actually and also I forgot to mention that this is like making a sequel to Inside Out and also Byron Howard, who also directed the movie and directed. Encanto is also coming back to direct the sequel as well so I’m not too worried about Zootopia 2 especially not being rushed and it is taking a lot of time to make. It has been in development since 2017 and it has been in development for a while
I haven't seen this movie yet, but it looks like my concerns with it's production history seems to be true. I'm fine with a sequel to Moana, but I'd prefer if it wasn't originally going to be that Disney+ series. I do get that Disney would want to make up for all the box-office bombs they had in the past few years, but still. Also, two .5 review scores in a row?! That's a bit crazy.
second movie in a row with a score ending in .5
Thank god you’re not going to be like what you gave Wish,Strange World a positive because it’s Disney but ehh…
You know the score you gave this movie sounds like a better score for Wish lol.
Mat is a Disney shill.
@ yeah seems accurate
Oh, it sank definetly
Box office wise, ABSOLUTLY NO, but critically, yes defenetly absolutly
It literally didn’t
@@RandomguyfromtheinternetN1it still a bit better them it live action flim
Blame Bob Iger.
