I love and hate this game, it'll always be the game that stopped me from reading anymore magazines or following/looking forward to new games. Followed this for years before it came out, read all the Peter interviews, the promises, special Gameinformer editions for it, of course got the preorder so I could watch the demo dvd that was given out.. Then after years of hype, getting other people to join on that hype with me, we got a game that only delivered about 10% of what was said.

Your channel is killer. I've loved all your retrospectives and the games are ones I've all played and had a special connection too. Honestly it's like my mind is being read and its super cool. Like a just made a new friend talking about my favorite video games. You really do the games you play justice too. There are other channels that do retrospectives, but each one seems like a critic trying their best to find the flaws in an older game. I believe that is the difference and what makes me love these so much. You give the games the benefit of the doubt, even when the game has flaws but you never let that get in the way of the big picture, the concept the game is putting forth.

A side note. Some of the side quests you completed prior to killing Jack the first time were also part of the lost chapters. The game was a little bare before the dlc came to life, but it didn't stop me from completing it hundreds of times before the dlc came to be. The greatest disappointment from the original was getting the sword of aeons and having absolutely no reason to have it. The game was over, everything worth killing was dead. The lost chapters and anniversary truly elevated the original idea. A masterpiece of its time

Pushing the limits of how we could beat it, what was possible. How fast, how strong could we get, what's the most money we could earn? I consider myself a true fan of the original game, but I've only played 2 and 3 a couple of times each. It just isn't the same, although I do really enjoy them

It was pretty much first "new" game on "new" pc for a kid, who only played 2d games from 90s before, like starcraft, homm3 or warcraft 2 and diablo 2. That’s basically what I do I have no problem opening all demon doors that are good or evil or doing all quests good or bad but when it comes down to making choices between the two I always go down with good. However the one quest you get in oak vale in fable 1 where the gaurd wants you to go kill an assassin and you find out he’s the brother, I actually take the assassins side because he was targeted first out of jealousy so I go back and kill the gaurd taking the extra cash from doing that quest. Morality games are amazing dragon age is a good one but fable is a rare breed where your character and the world around you changed based of your desisions, a great example is fable to where the choice you make as a child effects bowerstone olde town aesthetics for the rest of the game

The large stone at the end of the path can be easily hidden behind, you only need to run through and kill the three bandits, then hide behind the rock, wait for them to respawn and start patrolling, and then you just run to the gate...I figured this out when I was 11. You don't even need to sneak.

  • @clarkfutch
    @clarkfutch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Great video, but I have some thoughts:
I may have misinterpreted what “complete retrospective” means, or at least in this context, but it didn’t feel like a mastery of this game. It instead felt like an elementary playthrough of a game with very little detail on the intricacies of the humor playing such a significant role in the theme and story. You did little to show progression outside of the main story as well. Though you delve deep into the lore initially, you didn’t expand on other elements and quests which were the main draw of the game for many. In fact, there were several times you pressed forward in the plot without explaining what you had to do to get there. How about not ever getting Avo’s Tear in the “good” playthrough? That was a significant part of the expansion of the game. Also, most would start off playing good, but would be faced with choices where they may stray one way or another. Most people aren’t perfectly good or evil. And a lot of my playthroughs ended up being a mix of good, and in some cases “evil”, depending on balance between the two during a decision. You tended to make up for some things you missed during the first telling on the good side but I felt as a long time Fable fan it didn’t go nearly as deep as it could have, and almost spat in the faces of those who remember this game so well.
BUT. You did a great job telling the story how you played it. You also provided an alternative to how you played it the first time. Though many things were missing, I really enjoyed your take on the game.

Spent so many gosh dang hours assasins rushing between load borders to stop time so I could drag traders to the evil temple for that dang bow just to realize being good and saccing your wife or husband is all that's needed. Dangit Skorm. Stupid balvarines. Fml.

Wow, your portrayal of evil hero world-viewing lens was very fascinating! I never really looked at it with this point of view in mind

Started watching the video 3 days ago, paused it midway, downloaded Fable, got all steam achievements, returned to finish watching the video.
    Yes, I am easily distractable.

Had to stop to comment on the Twinblade guard area. Best way to do this is to just run right in, be noticed and kill them. Then hide behind the rock next to the barrels kitty corner from the Gate. Let them all go to where they are stationed and just charge up a bow shot and head shot the closest guy. He'll lose his head and then you just run for the gate. Won't get caught. Unless you can't aim then He'll say something lmao

i love that the algorithm randomly suggested this video to me, fable is my favourite game series, and I absolutely agree with most of your points, I only really disagreed on your point in fable 2, when you said the choices in fable 2 arent obvious, maybe its because I have been playing the game since launch, but although its not down to the point of this is good this is bad, I still think it was pretty obvious which was the right answers to go for on a good play through, I love this channel and have been watching all your other videos and hope you get the subscribers you deserve

Duuuude, you brought memories of my childhood I had forgotten about the Fable games. 2 was my all time favorite but the 3rd had so much potential but was squandered

Jesus how long was the hero in the heroes Guild? The little girl who you help find the doll within the prologue looks like an old woman when you go back to Oakvale.

I find it strange that people find anniversary edition to be more pleasing to the eye. looks muddy, sad and weird when compared to a cozy original vision.

Love this vid and its format. I like them too but this is a breath of fresh air amongst all the long form critiques. The way you framed it as the heros journey not your own really kept my attention, especially the way you handled the slippery slope of evil.
Your writing is truly superb my friend.
