Your ACW collection is epic brilliant painting as always
Thanks buddy
I love watching your vidoes. your my inspiration when it comes to hobby painting I wish more people did vidoes like yours sharing hobby progress and the like rather then just talking about rules and such.
Thanks mate.
Very nicely done Leon...great work mate!!
Thanks Andy
5 hours that’s not to bad at all great looking regiment Leon
Yes much quicker than I thought. Of course I didn’t include all the procrastination and just staring into space daydreaming of a finished army lol.
Great work mate and not too long to do. A regiment a week over 5 hours is a good way of doing things.
Thanks Paul. Yep, steady away, slowly working my way through them.
Top stuff mate 👍 awesome results
Cheers Martin 😊
Cracking job Leon, enjoyed watching you at work mate
Thanks mate.
5 hours is better than it sounds if you’re batch painting. It’s certainly good for that standard. They’re great looking units, definitely helped by the larger bases.
Thanks Sam. I think it’s the bases that make all the difference.
Awesome stuff chap. Very impressive!
Thanks buddy
Excellent work and vid as always mate!
Thanks buddy
They look great. I'll have to try doing the "conventional" paint job and compare to my current in vogue speedpaint method and compare. There's a lot of regiments to paint up in that box of mine still!
Thanks buddy. I was tempted with speed paints. Decided in the end at this scale I didn’t think it’d save much time. Be interested to see how you get on with a comparison in times
Great video mate,I've never timed myself very interesting stuff mate
Thanks mate. No I’ve never timed myself before. I do get asked the question a lot though, so thought I’d do these videos as a reference
Great vid! Useful for someone looking to get into epic scale
Thanks buddy.
Those are great results for that amount of time. Looking forward to seeing if the cavalry and artillery are faster, slower or about the same.
Thanks James. As always I’m not looking forward to painting the cavalry lol.
Nice one buddy 👍
Thanks mate 😊
Three hours 49 minutes to paint seems very good to me! I don't remember how long it took me to paint a Union Rgt when I was working on the ACW set but it takes me MUCH longer than ~4 hours to paint any of the Napoleonic sets of French, British or Prussian sprues. I must be pretty slow. Be well and have fun!
Thanks Bruce. Depending how well this video goes I might time the Napoleonic next. I’m thinking the same as you, they’ll take much longer lol.
I would be interested to see a timed painting project of a French or British Infantry sprue. It may help me to see where I am taking too much time.! Be well, and have fun!

Thanks Bruce. You too mate. Have a great weekend.
I’ll probably do a Napoleonic one once I finish this Union army
Thanks Leon, a helpful trial and faster than me, I am doing a pair of bases in around 4 hours. What interests me about all of this is the Epic / 28mm balance. 28’s are what they are, but the Epic doesn’t seem to paint massively faster to me, say about twice as fast. I’m not sure whether just on that fact alone (discounting space), that I wouldn’t rather just be painting 28mm. I go around in circles on this!
Thanks Norm.
I’ve found these are quicker to paint for me at least. I’ve been thinking the same and going round in circles as well.
The conclusion I’ve come to is, that for massed battles I’ll use these Epic minis and for 28’s I’ll build armies for more skirmish level games. Like “Sharpe Practice” or “Muskets and Tomahawks”.
My reasoning being, I don’t have the space to play huge 28mm battles and I can’t justify having 2 armies the same in both scales. Using 28’s for smaller armies means I can still have the larger scale models, just a lot less of them lol.
I’ll probably sell off most of my 28mm and just keep enough to make up the armies I want.
@@leont66wargaming31 Yep, same quandry as myself, but I do a lot of board wargames and have reasoned that they look after the big battles for me, so I suppose that leaves me asking Epic and 28’s to do the same job, which for my kind of games I just need 8 to 12 battalions per side.
@norm977 hmmm. Yes, bit more of a pickle that one.
Interesting Leon. At that rate someone should be able to paint an army pretty quickly. 👍
I only spend about an hour a day painting, but a regiment a week is easily achievable.
I probably spend 2-3 hours a day, daydreaming about what the final army will look like 😆
Thanks Leon very interesting was not as long as I thought it would be either. I might do a video like that as well good idea. It will have taken you longer if you included the drying times I think 😁
😆 yes it’d taken a couple of days waiting for stuff to dry 🤣
Yes mate do the video. It’s interesting to find out how long things take, even if it’s just for your own information. I’ll probably do more of these videos for the other things I collect
Great work as usual 👍- I’ve never timed myself but I reckon I’m close to 4 hours for a 3 stand regiment. Currently on the Iron Brigade, so you can add on 2 hours for cleaning all the chaff off the metal! 😂
Thanks mate. 😊. Yes them iron brigade do have lots of chaff 😆
@@leont66wargaming31 also, how do you edge your flags at this scale- looks like a gold colour?
@Roll-Some-Dice
I’ve found it’s easiest to paint the flag edges if you do it before you glue them all to the bases. I use the edge of the brush rather than the point.
@@leont66wargaming31 cheers much appreciated 👍🏻
I think the time taken to do the highlights, especially all the skin when it was a dark base colour was most impressive. I think just 1 colour would have taken me that long . let alone all the colours you had done.
Thanks buddy
Hia Leon, thanks as always for the excellent post. May I ask please, is the Drummer as seperate figure?
Thanks buddy. Yes the drummer is from Kallistra
Cheers amigo, thank as always@@leont66wargaming31
