- Welcome back to the channels and back to the Obscure Mario games iceberg! Today we tackle Layer 7 and 8 and dive into some really rare and unknown Mario games. I'm aware I got some information wrong about Super Mario Bros. Special. The game isn't a port and is an original Mario game developed for PC. It added in new items, enemies, and new stages into the game. My bad I just saw low res Super Mario Bros visuals and assumed it was a port. Admittedly when you script out 30 different entries for Mario games the research slips here and there.

Don't get me wrong, it's an overstated fact in Mario videos, but I brought it up to talk about the publishers being related not so much to state the obvious (of doki doki panic being Mario Bros USA)

One game that I hope you can maybe include as a bonus in the last video (since I didn't see it in the iceberg) is New Super Mario Bros Wii Coin World. It's another slot machine from what I've seen but it's probably even more obscure than most of those as I never see people talking about it.
I'm adding a few games onto the end of the iceberg for the next video so I'll add this one to the list, sounds pretty interesting, thanks for the suggestion!

"Super Donkey" is weird because it seems to contradict a common story you often hear about SMW2's art style. I had always heard the somewhat crude "hand-drawn" style was just thrown together quickly, as a placeholder for DKC style pre-rendered sprites, but then someone at Nintendo "liked it so much" it stayed. But Super Donkey makes it seem like that art style was always intentional, and just carried over to the Mario game that was made using its engine.

Seems like I got all of these except Mario's castle ,the watch games ,the mario kart 64 gambling machine and possibly some of the other cancelled projects but I believe I seen them somewhere before

looking at the whole list and was hoping to find one low down but it wasn't there. i know you talked about arcade games in the last one but only mentioned mario kart arcade gp and luigi's mansion, but there are actually a bunch more super obscure arcade games and slot machines, i was specifically looking for new super mario bros wii coin world, a japan only arcade game that barely anyone knows about. i see a few of them on the bottom tier but missing a few so hope you include all them when you get there (they're all on the mario wiki)

Mario Kart Super Circuit/Advance and Mario Kart XXL are actually completely separate games, I'm pretty sure Mario Kart XXL was also done years after Super Circuit released

IIRC Mario Kart XXL was actually developed AFTER Mario Kart Super Circuit and was meant to be pitched as a potential sequel to it. Obviously it went nowhere.

It's from Mario Party 2, specifically the laboratory music. I think it was the options menu in the game.
The cdi actually isnt even a console. It was meant for vcds (video compact disc), a proto dvd that flopped hard (Even CED was more sucessful).
There was basic interactivity for some games likevthe art gallery, but the CDI wasnt made with games in mind.
Its why every game for it is absolutely dreadful

Mario super picross was first released on the west on the Wii and Wii u virtual console shops i think.
I think in Europe and Australia they were, but specifically in the US I'm like 90 percent sure we didn't get Super Picross until NSO
