It is normal to bathe 2 or more time a day to cool down from scorching heat outside. It's a common practice for those living on equatorial region.
Actually in my family we just need to greet the elders like parents and grandparents before we eat. We don’t need to greet those of the same level, like siblings and cousins. Funny TH-cam recommended me to watch this but it was really refreshing hearing your thoughts as a Taiwanese living in Singapore.
Oh i see, I think there are different types of ways to greet in singapore too! Just that I happened to have similar people around me ◡̈
Calling family members to eat when I was young was really calling everyone who is older to eat... But after childhood, it was really just shouting "everyone please come eat" XD

I also got a lot of cultural shock when I lived in Taipei. Betel nut chewing Ah Peks and after chewing they just spit on the streets.

俺 已经25年“不卦濕衣服出窗外”啦！

u can put your clothes to dry indoor for a day then next day just put it outdoor for a while, so dun need to worry abt raining or other things.

Well I think is individual family way of eating ... For me personally my family and relative we will justsit together and just eat.. don't need so formal still need to address our elderly ... So troublesome ...
Sometime I will even eat first before they eat...

我家會要求叫長輩們吃飯，連我小姪女也必須要叫比她年長一歲的哥哥吃飯。每天清晨起床後也必須要叫長輩早晨。

You mean in Taiwan, the used toilet paper may be placed into a dustbin instead of flushing away? Isn't that very smelly when the dustbin was opened ?
Yup dustbin. And usually we have air freshener in toilet too
What I heard is that the sewage pipes in Taiwan are not wide enough for toilet paper, so they get clogged easily.

曬衣服那個, 新型的2個架子那個, 風太大時, 竹竿會被吹的浮上來而掉下樓去. 我還是喜歡舊款那個, 一個洞口插進去, 穩穩的.
我兩種都有用過，但是還沒有吹下去的經驗
晚辈请长辈吃饭的习俗是有的，但每个家庭也有一些区别。我的家族也很大，特别是团圆饭之类的。只要有叫到就可以了，不需要特地的排顺序什么的。

🤣like how you relate asking the elders to eat. I enjoy asking the elders to eat to make them feel respected. Sometimes the elderlies look left out as they couldn't understand English that most will be conversing in.
I hope tw will change to bigger sanitary pipes so it is more hygienic to flush the toilet paper but it is impossible I know just like those old buildings cant be upgraded because of ownership. I went to find out the reason why the papers had to be in a bin 😆

東南亞國家的人通常一天洗澡兩次，因為過夜覺得很悶，現在住台北我還做這個習慣，我室友們覺得我很奇怪哈哈～

我们一天至少冲两次凉（我们一般都说冲凉，不说洗澡）。只有在屋龄比较老的祖屋才有 rubbish chute 在屋内。我们都不念垃圾为 le4 se4, 而是 la1 ji1.

其實你的第五觀點是因人而異，不是每個新加坡人都必須要叫長輩和大家吃飯。通常在我的家庭裡面，我們家人比較自由，我們都直接吃飯的。不用那麼麻煩還要稱呼叫長輩吃飯。
可能是家教問題吧。 必須看他們的家庭。但是我本身都先吃飯 😂

Not sure if calling elders at the dinner table is a singaporean thing, from what i observed, only my father’s side extended family will have this tradition. I always thought it was a cantonese thing
The first time i knew of this tradition, was when I visited my cousins from my father’s side at age 11. Then after that visit, i need to call the elders at the table before eating. Before that, i never had to do it HAHAHA
Not sure which dialect does this habit originate from, becos my ex bf was not Cantonese 😅
我一天只洗一次澡 - 晚上 ☺。叫同桌的长辈们吃饭我也遇过但我一直都没办法习惯这样的文化，但等长辈坐下来才开始吃饭还是有的。
喔！謝謝分享！如果晚上睡覺時有開冷氣或是整晚下雨的話，早上起來就還蠻舒服的。通常沒開冷氣的人早上洗澡應該是99%吧
現在好像越來越少人叫長輩吃飯了耶
1. We do not all dry out side these dats. These days we use anti bacterial detergent so we can hang inside.
2. We have the convenience of rubbish throw. We just incinerate rubbish. Recycle bin are for the environmental guilt recovery.
3. We love to smell good. keep hygiene and shower 2 times a day. Due to Covid we now go out come back also shower.
4. Our toilet is design to allow toilet down the paper.
5. Our upbringing is correct to ask older to eat. But nowadays, the head of the family just say... EAT!! all dig in
曬過太陽的衣服還是比較香，而且很快乾。
我家族裡還是會這樣。現在比較不會一個個叫只是看到誰就叫誰，我們是潮州人。
對啊曬過太陽的衣服有「太陽」的味道，很好聞！
原來是看個人家庭習慣，因為有幾個人說他們是潮州人而且也會這樣。所以聽起來是見仁見智
@@AN9ELHSU 我是觉得对比其他族群，潮州人本身族群文化是比较传统的，所以保留这些传统文化。然后在因为新加坡地方小，华人族群互相影响。然后再因社会文化的大氛围下，就看各自家庭本身想要保留多少传统文化了。我家族虽然有这个文化保留，但个别的小家庭还是会自己作些调整。
In my family, we still ask the elders to eat first. My kids does that still. I think, its happened to most 70/80s born Singaporean. The younger or newer generation dun really do this anymore. I honestly think its a good "habit" to inculcate for the younger generation.:) 在我的家， 我們仍叫我們的長輩們吃飯。我的孩子仍會如此。我想，這些都比較是70/80年出生的人會這麼做。年輕一代和新一代比較少這麼做。嗯， 覺得這是好習慣，教導我們要尊重長輩。
在台灣早期也是這樣的, 我已離開台灣很久了, 但每次回台灣家裡仍舊維持一樣的做法, 雖然台灣現在大多小家庭, 但我相信現在還是有不少台灣家庭維持著這樣的傳統.

去我表弟表妹家時，我也嚇到，他們真的都有一位一位的請吃飯。
我父母剛好輩份最大，都會說 “大家不用客氣，大家吃”。
他們後來有教，如果發現某些親戚有禮俗，就客氣的跟。 但在自己的家時就不要浪費煮菜的人的苦心，把菜放涼了，“大家吃” 心意就受到了 ─ 我父母就喜歡速戰速決。

我家裡人齊的話會有十個人，從小到大都會從最大的長輩到年紀最近的哥哥叫一遍，不過都是幾兄弟姊妹同時叫，超吵超熱鬧😂😂😂

星加坡的垃圾丟法，在1970年代的台北的公寓就是這樣丟的，後來怎麼不再有這種“管道”，就不知道了，可能要問建設公司才了解。

I have never ever in my life seen what you said about addressing our elders before we eat lunch or dinner. On reel life, yes but on real life, no. Must be a new tradition or custom or maybe, it is life imitating art.
I guess the culture has slowly been fading away. Recently I talked to my friend and he told me he was the one that ended this addressing before eating in his family
Used to be a formal thing as respect for elders. Traditional families still practice that, but it's fading, modern elders don't mind now

Greetings at dinning table - guessed not many families practice such traditional way. Seen most gatherings (on special occasions) someone will suggest to dig in (开动) or youngest announced (大家吃饭)。😉 Doubt it is daily routine at every meal time......too troublesome.🤪

The rubbish chute in old flats is scary, don’t dare to open especially when weather is hot, the air rush upwards n u gotta hold ur breath. Sometimes when one is lucky, can see cockroaches lingering around the opening. Kinda feel like a horror movie already 😅

我也不喜欢把衣服晒外面，楼上会丢脏东西滴水把衣服弄湿，不过设得选择，组是没阳台门前没走廊，只好如此，不过早期有些组屋门前有走廊这个组屋设计很理想，不知怎么现在组屋没有门前走廊？

早上洗澡是我们从小的习惯並不是说天气热才洗？就算是大雨天早上出门前也是一定要洗澡才出门，有时候一天还不只洗二次.几年前去香港找亲戚玩时,他们都是逛完街回家就直接洗脚上床睡觉去！还交代我们说冬天不用每天洗澡？天气太冷不用每天洗一星期洗一次就够了😱还说我们很爱干净毎天早上洗澡晚上又洗澡😂😂

Like #33 for this video. Interesting sharing the culture shock you experienced here in Sg. But the calling of elders before meal, not really practiced by all families. The more Western culture dun really practice that. We say grace and thank God before our meals. 😀
N long ago when I had a helper from Philippines, she also was frightened to bring bamboo out for hanging clothes. N she asked me "Mum, can I throw all the rubbish into the sink's drain pipe? All these will go to the river below? I told her "Below got no river. Please throw the bag into the dustbin". 🤣🤣😅

That's a problem with overly-Westernised Singaporean Chinese. So please don't generalise. There are still many Singaporean Chinese who uphold such goid values.
6:00 十年前或许吧现在通常没有这么讲究了啦! 毕竟新一代的通通都叫auntie...uncle，而且通常是长辈自己都尴尬(大家肚子都咕噜咕噜叫了)也会有时示好叫"大家来吃吧!"
不过难得Angel有此经历，这种情景应该也只能在时代剧或港剧回味了吧！

Yes, this is not commonly practiced anymore. Only some dialects will still practice when the elderly is around.
its still going on but its more for teaching kids that are younger about being respectful towards 长辈 and depends on whether do you have the habit not growing out of it even after growing up

真的，以前在台灣軍演時，開始軍營的廁所還是好好的，到半個月基本馬桶都阻塞了。長官也沒說不能扔進馬桶，後來才知道台灣馬桶是不能扔廁紙的，好像是當時的廁紙很難分解而造成阻塞，現在應該還好吧。

Singapore‘s 的ATM machine system 也是和其他国有些不一样的。Bus service 也很专业。很多人说新加坡的食物和生活费很高，但是在马来西亚某些地方的生活费就比新加坡高出很多很多倍。

@@AN9ELHSU 好像只有相同logo 的银行公司才能接受同样logo 的银行卡。不同logo 的要收不同的小费的。你要去打听一下了。
他们系统中最杰出的就属于cash card 了。这个cash card类似香港的八达通了。新加坡的cash card system 是属于中央的，所以很集中。马来西亚的，在早期有很多公司承办，所以如果搭地铁，从一站，要到2，3 ，站，转站，都需要不同的卡。
马来西亚的 Damansara是属于非常高生活费的地方。这是我在五年前不小心发现的，比新加坡普通住宅区还贵。
我坐过马来西亚，厦门，上海和新加坡的巴士。让人最安心的司机在新加坡。最神乎奇迹的驾驶技术，当属中国莫屬。
我是香港的中年人，影片內的"曬衣服''，''掉垃圾''，和香港一樣。至於''飯前叫長輩''一事，十幾廿年前香港都有，但現在年輕父母都不教導小孩叫啦

Anyway I dun hang my clothes outside too - I have an electric dryer. What that means is, I can do my laundry AT ANY TIME, even 3am at night (but I don't do it so late). Once the clothes are washed I just throw them all into the dryer and let it spin for an hour or so, and they come out all dry. Some reasons why NOT to hang clothes:
1 - You NEVER KNOW what the idiot neighbours upstairs have hung outside to dry. Some idiots hang completely wet clothes still dripping with water out, so they drip on yours.
2 - If you didn't secure your clothes correctly with the pegs, your clothes will fly OFF and fall. I have had a few "free" T-shirts landing on the metal brackets outside my window in the past. I have always cut them up and used them as rags... *evil grin*
3 - Again, idiot neighbours sometimes throw stupid cigarette butts out the window and if it happened to land on your clothes - good luck. You will suddenly find it has a new hole.
4 - If you happen to be busy watching TV or sleeping and don't realise it's started to rain, you'll be rushing to bring all the clothes in.
Basically the dryer has been a game changer for me. I no longer need to hurry up and wash clothes early in the day to "catch the sun".

Probably true for the 50/60, for the younger generation, they probably just call the grandparents and the rest simplify with “大家吃饭”, we do serve the dishes to the eldest (grandparents) first though.
I also never heard of such thing.
叫长辈们吃饭的礼俗其实只是一种习惯 ，因为现在的新加坡人并不是每个人都会这样做 。我的家庭就是个例子 。说一声 " 吃饭 “ 就可以了 ，不需要从第一个人叫到最后的那个人才完事 。

台灣現在大多是小家庭,年輕一代可能不知道這種傳統,我小時候家裡三代同堂也是要請長輩先吃飯.看起來海外的華僑家庭保留更多敬老傳統.

I once have my american friend come over to Singapore for vacation last year with her friend, I invited them to my house and they are shocked to see how I hang my clothes outside my kitchen window to dry, they asked "won't burglar will steal your clothes?" I replied "ya if they are spiderman lah". They were also shocked that my electrical box is inside my house so if my house have blackout I can just walk to living room and fix it, but they said in america their electrical box is outside the house.
