Waiting on a AIWB holster from you guys for the SP-01 I pick up Wednesday. Bought the SP because I wanted a light capable gun for night time hikes with my mutts. I also choose between a RAMI or PCR depending on use case. Being a CA resident with roster restrictions, CZs are the best guns for my needs.
New sp-01 owner myself, but question...what are you comparing this too when calling it light? The sp-01 is like 42oz, as I understand things that's more on the heavier side right?
I honestly purchased a P01 and SP-01 off of your recommendation... back when I used to watch your Q/A instagram stories, lol. It makes me happy to see your running CZs again.
Been loving the CZ stuff since my first experience in 2016. The P09, P07 and SP-01 Tac are my top choices. CZ-USA was great to deal with back then and the LEO/MIL program was outstanding. Not the same company these days, but still love the pistols. They just work so great for me.
CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical was the first pistol I ever shot. It was a part of the beginner pistol class I took before I got my permit to purchase. It was on the list of guns to try again when I was deciding what to purchase for my first pistol, but the local gun shops didn't have any in stock. Instead, I chose the Canik METE SFx Pro. Haven't modded it at all and just running iron sights. Bought it April 29, 2023 and five days later used it to qualify during my permit to carry class. Received my permit to carry on May 25, 2023. In my state, that allows me to carry concealed and open. In the 14 months since I bought it, I've fired 2,080 rounds through it (eight different kinds of FMJ and six different kinds of JHP). I did have eight malfunctions (failure to feed and failure to eject) during the first 500 rounds, but no malfunctions since then. I'm not a competitive shooter at all, I just have it for all the other reasons - home defense, carry, and practicing at the range. Overall I'm happy with the gun and I trust it with my life, though I do regret not getting a metal-frame gun, as I've found I prefer the heavier weight. My next purchase will definitely have a metal frame, whether aluminum or steel - I just haven't decided which yet.
The SP01 run away sounds like a broken FP retaining pin. I cracked my cajun one after lots of 10k rounds and a ton of dryfire and it forced the firing pin to be stuck in the forward position. I was glad to have caught it before loading it back up to carry.
I ve used to run lok brass grips to help with balance same as you mention. Yeah, the gun does recoil and come back bit better, it does settle on target a bit better. Then one day i did a lot of testing vs stock grips. Turns out the accuracy is the same between them, brass ones just give more confidance and better feeling recoil. And then the added weight makes me slower on transitions and reloads and draw. I feel its just too much weight. Overall stock grips are faster for me. Same day i ordered aluminium lok grips, the ones exact same as brass ones but lighter because they are alu. Never looked back.

The problem you described at 7:00 is the same issue I had with my Langdon Beretta. I thought that was going to be my grail gun, but I hated the recoil characteristics with an optic.
What CZ do you recommend for small thick weight lifter mittens !? 😂 yes those are mine . I just don’t know if I’m ok with not reaching the slide release in comp shooting
I am only like 15 seconds in so ignore if i got it wrong but If the trigger kit involved swapping the hammer out after that many rounds that is completely on you. With the high of a round count the sear also needs to be replaced. Its recommended to replace the sear during a hammer swap after 500 rounds let alone 50000. The sear would have been way worn in and the smaller sear engagement sufaces on say the cajun hammers and the cz custom hammers are alot smaller then the stock hammers.
I run a CZC A01 LD in limited optics, with their direct acro cut makes it super deep. I believe it's about 6oz heavier than the shadow 2, has some small things I like better than the Shadow 2. Major downside is it's a PITA to work on, more small parts for disassembly and there's no sear cage, reassembly the entire sear assembly inside the frame is annoying to say the least. I personally haven't had anything break on mine following proper maintenance and parts replacement, but I've heard of people having serious breakages of major parts (not just a trigger return spring going bad or something), so YMMV, not sure if that's worth it for relatively marginal gains over a Shadow 2 or other CZ75 variants at the as an SC2 OR with full Cajun upgrade kit is like $1800, AO1 is $2500 plus any upgrade work you might want.
I carry a Glock because that is the platform I have carried and trained with for 34 years. I have tried others including a Staccato C2 ( bought as a retirement gift) only ending up selling it and going back to Glock because it is the platform I shoot well and comfortable with. I currently edc a Gun 5 19 and a 34, which I use to instruct and compete in local outlaw matches with. Do like the CZ P10C and F but they were not authorized to be carried when I was on the job.
I carried a Beretta 92FS, Hk USP 45, M&P 2.0 9mm and Glock 17 throughout my 34 years in LE. When in plain clothes, id carry a G19 for duty. I own just shy of a dozen Colt 1911’s, two CZ’s, multiple “wheel guns,” a large collection of Browning and Springfield Hi-Powers and finally…. TONS of Glock tactical Tupperware! I always go back to Glock. It’s the best pistol for “combat,” period. End of story. Granted it’s not the best for competition, but for down and dirty EDC, patrol work, combat or a hunting sidearm in dirty conditions out in the wild brush…. Glock is the very BEST for me as I too have grown with the brand. Currently in my rotation for EDC in retirement life, it’s either the G27, G23, G32 (.357 Sig) or G43x. I would like to see a full size grip with sub compact barrel with DA/SA and a fire pin block and bull barrel. Think Wilson Combat SFX9 3.25" PS: My CZ has the Cajun 10x barrel bushing and srs-1 with a CZC trigger.
So I’m sending my CZ shadow 2 compact. To get ported by United Firearms… as I can tell it’s only going to enhance it and make it a flatter shooter… cajun gun Works trigger will be next .. thanks…
@cz1always608 how does it perform compared to the port change? Big difference? Hardly noticable? There's one on the shelf that I've pondered over and if the port price was reasonable with a decent lead time I'd consider it. Because I looked it up a few weeks ago the Shadow 2 compact has loads of extra aesthetic and useful upgrade parts which could make for another fun experience in itself.
It's great to hear that CZ gave you TLC in regards to providing you an optic ready slide for your Shadow 2 pistol. For the rest of the loyal CZ owners that purchased non-optics slide versions, even before there was an optics ready version, they came out with an optic ready slide for 700 dollars plus. They figured they could screw their loyal customer base by charging an exorbitant cost. Why would I continue to support a company that violates the relationship with their customers when they are looking to gouge loyal customers? Haven't purchased a product from them in years, nor do intend to do so.
I go back and forth between Glock and the CZ P-09 for EDC, but when it comes to competition I've really grown to love my Shadow 2. Hopefully MBX restocks their green basepads cause I need to get some more mags from them soon!
I assume you shoot without the light better when you don't need to use the light, because having better performance shooting with one hand using the light vs 2 hands on the pistol sounds very... interesting. And yeah even the thyrm style grip isn't better than a proper handgun grip.
any DS 1911 platform will absolutely have a better outcome, but it'll make you not necessarily a better shooter. Like you'll start placing overall higher, but then going back to what ever platform you were on before it'll show your flaws. I'm going for GM with my plastic fantastic glock in CO, as long as CO stays the same. This talk about limiting CO to 15 rounds making it Production optics is whack, and it'll force me to LO. if that's the case, it'll be annoying going up against DS 2011s in LO, but not impossible. just that much more rewarding each stage win.
@Kawboy65 atlas tactical armory out of Reynoldsburg ohio. Super happy with how my p01 turned out, it's been reliable even with the ports and a dpm guide rod set up. They also have about a 2 week turn around.
I want to like your holsters, but man your “normal” placement of the mono block is WAYYYYY too high for me and it keeps the gun way too low on the waistline. I REALLY wish you guys would make height adjustments on your monoblock compatible holsters. Cuz I run my guns approx 1.5”+ above the belt so I can get a full master grip. The way your holsters currently are manufactured I can’t get a full firing grip when drawing. PLEASE consider height adjustment on your monoblock style holsters 😊. Also, great video btw always love hearing people’s opinions. I will always carry a pistol light AND a handheld. One is none and two is one. And I truly believe yes u can PID without drawing down on someone. We have seen thru MULTIPLE OIS’ that there are multiple techniques to PID with a pistol light without muzzling someone. Two hands on the gun, are infinitely better than one. I’d rather have it and not need it than need it an go “fuck I don’t have it”. Glad you’re shooting CZ’s again. I love my P10C and Tanfoglio Witness P (although I wish like a CZ it had a decocker option)
Shooting a gun to me is like hitting a golf ball. I spent the 1990s and 2000s buying new clubs, taking lessons, getting swing gimmick stuff ... I'm an idiot, for sure, but I did the same thing when I started shooting guns again. You give me any driver now and I'll pop it 300 or close to it, it's all in my swing and mental state, almost none of it has to do with the equipment. I've been out shooting quite a bit now with all of my various pistols of brands all over the spectrum and I promise you not one gets "tighter groups" than the other if I don't relax and visualize the round hitting the steel. I don't know if my grip is consistent or even has any methodology whatsoever but my shooting has improved significantly.
I can see the no light for competition, a light on a gun doesn't hurt, most of gun owner will never get into a firefight but why no be prepared, imagine drawing on someone and then trying to look for a flashlight in your pocket, hard pass
The SP01 Phantom is the most underrated pistol ever made by CZ. I had a Phantom that I shot till failure. I then sent it to CGW to be reworked. They milled for a RMR and installed the pro. I carried and shot it exclusively for about 2.5 years. The weight to performance ratio imo beat the ever living shit out of 2011s etc. however, I decided to sell it and bought a G19. I had Jager mill for a ACRO. What’s the point of all this? I sold my Phantom and haven’t missed it yet. I tried and cant justify DA/SA anymore. There’s no need for DA in my mind
I got an eeman flat brass on my SP01.......cajun parts all that jazz. I polished everything on the gun well and I love ot to death. I'm a Glock guy also- but I have always appreciated the CZ 75 series. It's just undeniable. I've never seen ONE skilled shooter pick my 75/ SP01 up and not smile the first time. They just run and run. VERY accurate too.
I feel like 50k rounds is a pretty good run for any gun.
50K is a lot for the average joe. It's even a lot for someone who trains.

any DS 1911 platform will absolutely have a better outcome, but it'll make you not necessarily a better shooter.
Making me want to get my p01 cut for a dot now.
just got mine back from the shop. got the works, cerakote, optic cut, slide cuts, ports ect. ill never not own one like this. already sent my sp01 out
@@contentcop Which shop did the work? I am debating between sending my P-01 out for a cut and trigger kit or just buying a Shadow 2 Compact.
@Kawboy65 atlas tactical armory out of Reynoldsburg ohio. Super happy with how my p01 turned out, it's been reliable even with the ports and a dpm guide rod set up. They also have about a 2 week turn around.
@@contentcop I'll check them out. Thanks!
Weapon balance is key
Concur. Scott at Impact Machine is the best.
He gets to the point at 4:26
My brain hurts.
he stopped, only to start back up again because cz is king in competition
I love my P10C and Tanfoglio Witness P (although I wish like a CZ it had a decocker option)
which pistol model holster do you have? have you seen the Daisho yet? Can use DCC Mod 4 or Alias attachments that have ride height adjustment
Huge CZ fan!
you love CZ thats it !
yes!
Nice clickbait title; answer at 4:58 , optics cuts making optics to you, for you
Shooting a gun to me is like hitting a golf ball.
Slide serrations on the frame have to be the dumbest fucking thing ive seen in a while as far as pistol mods
they don't do anything, they are smooth and don't actual affect the ability to grab the slide.,
I can see the no light for competition, a light on a gun doesn't hurt, most of gun owner will never get into a firefight but why no be prepared, imagine drawing on someone and then trying to look for a flashlight in your pocket, hard pass
its not hard when its clipped on
I don’t understand this video.. What is he trying to say?
cz is goat
If your a huge cz fan let us know in the comments.... Thats me, huge fan
Love going to NH to shoot. Shout out to Chief Mac Cashin. Great video 💯
MAC CASHIN IS THE GOAT
Scott cut my sp01 for the 509t waaaay back when they first came out ( I think I was one of the first? ).. loooooooove it. Did irons forward as well
IWI jericho has been good to me 🎉
I got an eeman flat brass on my SP01.......cajun parts all that jazz.
Why in God's green earth are people putting tape around handle of their guns? What an idiotic trend.
neat
