What makes this song so special to me are the sound effects/percussion part. They transport me to the alien world where this song exists. That scuttling sounds like some exotic robotic insect on the floor beside me while I look up at the drawings of an ancient cave on another planet. The percussion and sound effects are the sounds of the world around me, and the voices are supernatural and ancient, coming from another realm entirely. This song is its own world to me like nothing I’ve ever heard before. I didn’t even know music could do that. Thank you JC
I want that part to be playing when someone finds me-humanity’s intellectual savior of the universe-meditating alone in a temple. On a more realistic note, it would perfectly fit the Star Wars scene where Rey finds Luke Skywalker. This music completely transcends human experience in ways I can’t explain.
1.33, i think he used a similar chord at the end of georgia on my mind. he finishes with a simple E major then modulates to C#lydian playing like an F#maj13#11/C#; sounds very similar
TH-cam's algorithm is slacking, they waited until today to recommend this. I would have clicked immediately! This is amazing, I thought we'd have to wait for June Lee but you did it! Thank you :)
This is AWESOME!!! Thank you so much for doing this!! Excellent work. (in m. 32 it sounds like you're missing a B2, and in m. 33 it sounds like you're missing a G#2 and G#3) (also for thick sections like mm. 38 - 42 it might make it more readable to split it up into more staves) (also in m. 52 it sounds like you're missing a G#5 in the first chord) (also in m. 55 it sounds like you're missing a D6)
Thanks for the constructive feedback! At many points, it was difficult to make out the difference between overtones and actual voices. May be, this happened in m. 32 and 33.
i don't hear the g#2 at m.33 but i still hear the B from E chord m.32 . it's the same voice and for the conduction i think he's not going to G# there are others middle voices missing but that's insane work thanks for this
At rehearsal C your first chord is wrong. There’s obviously a minor 2nd of an A and G# in the soprano part and there is more than 2 voices on that first chord.
Hey nice work here ! Did you notice any subtleties regarding temperament and tuning systems ? Maybe microtonal voice leading here and here ? There's a post on VOCES's 8 Facebook mentioning that : the score included chords tuned around different pitch centres. Any insights into that ? Thanks
Thanks! Selectively listening to a particular note tuned unconventionally amidst of dense harmony is a challenging task, so I kinda aimed to study the microtonal aspect separately.
It would be nice to see some credit to the amazing Voces8 on here. Just spent a beautiful week at their Summer School. Check them out if you've not done so already.
F major, with 4th i would say (with all the others note jacob likes to add like D, G, E, etc...) the fourth is just a little high so we don't really hear it like a 4th and it's resolving on E major but keeping the D and A pedal that's why it dosen't sound like a simple tonal thing (and if you didn't noticed there is all the seven notes from each scale)
I found out that Voces8 said “when we saw the score included chords tuned around different pitch centers” facebook.com/12015691102/posts/10156923043031103/?vh=e&d=n
In case youtube is watching, this is the quality content i want to see in my recommendation!! Not some dumb teenger try to jump off a roof..

If you close your eyes, you'll think Eric Whitacre wrote this
In Jacob's inspiration for the Djesse Vol. 1 Spotify playlist there was Lux Aurumque so I imagine it was heavily influenced by Whitacre
Now that’s some dedication
The chord at 1:33 gives me chills... now I know what it is and maybe I’ll use it someday lol. Incredible job I bet this took a while!

Bobby Sanchez yeah I never thought about that. Some parts of Harry Potter would work really well with this music too
Oh hey Graham, funny to see you here
@@Ambr haha what’s up
Holy cow! This is awesome! I always wanted to know what chord 1:33, 2:40 and 4:10 is. Thank you so much for sharing!
1.33, i think he used a similar chord at the end of georgia on my mind. he finishes with a simple E major then modulates to C#lydian playing like an F#maj13#11/C#; sounds very similar
The second one is either C+add9, Abmaj7#11#5, or E7#9#5
It all depends on what you hear

im suscribed to you lol
THAT CHORD AT 3:55 WHEWWWW!!!! That’s so beautiful 😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩😩
in 3:29 the chords are: Dbmaj13#11, Ab69(maj7), Fm11
your welcome
Absolutely out of sight....Fantabulous!
favorite part always been 2:56 with the E major to C# maj....have always loved this type of progression
YES. It always reminds me of Dvorak's New world Symphony 2nd movement
It's such an impactful moment of the song
Damn I was waiting for June’s transcription but now I have to subscribe to someone else :) thanks for taking the time and sharing this with us
Instructions unclear I summoned a demon
This is my favourite video on TH-cam
Thanks so much :)
This is so great! I really hope you plan to release some more Jacob transcriptions soon
I'm releasing one within a week :)
Thank you so much for sharing, I've been waiting for this :')
Exactly what I was looking for. Great job!
Great to visually see structure.. 🎼
5:29 that certainly is home
I got chills 3+ times. So good!
Very beautiful !

@@DevashishGuptaOfficial You're welcome! And yeah it definitely must have been a challenge. Good work.
Yeah, for sure the G# carries over into the C# in m32-33
There was also a missing E5 in m. 55, but overall great arrangement!
i don't hear the g#2 at m.33 but i still hear the B from E chord m.32 . it's the same voice and for the conduction i think he's not going to G#

Awesome! Great job.
Wowwww!!! This is amazing!!! Thank you so much!!!
i love that 4:10, Ab over Faug over G7, that's a chord
"homies"
2:20 'Lots of energy' with triple p.
Lmao yeah

The last cord the 2 soprano has an E not a D. ;)
I enjoyed it. Thanks
Thank you !
thanks bhai !!! you are awesome
Great Work man :)
Omg mate ypu're actually so cool
Does anyone know what the two chords at 2:40 are? Thank you
Isnt 2:35 bar 28 or 29 harp and not piano?
Anyone know the names of the chords in measures 17-19? aka 1:33

@@trashbowlman2651 thank you sm!!
I wish you included the words and vowels they sing. I also wish you notated the percussion parts.
True, that would have been great
Does anyone here know why the F# in bar 8 always sounds so flat? Is there some weird Jacovian micro tuning key center thing happening?
I found out that Voces8 said “when we saw the score included chords tuned around different pitch centers” facebook.com/12015691102/posts/10156923043031103/?vh=e&d=n
@@NateWallyton This is damn interesting! This was my second ever transcription! Had very little idea about such concepts 😅
is it just me who can hear a sustained E in the last chord?
Almost Very good. There are some minor mistakes like for example - there are no F# in the last chord.
Did you do trial and error to reach the tuning of A=430 hz?
It was more like singing the tonic and tuning an oscillator to unison.
thank you!!
May you put chord symbals for people who don't know how to read sheet music please?
@Ros Morgan Alright
Tearssssss
These chords look like stalks of brussel sprouts
Reminds me of Frederick Delius ...
I'm surprised by how few micro tones there are
Given the sheer density of harmony and this being my second ever transcription, I had planned to study the microtonal aspects separately.
Awesome, please consider adding chord symbols next time
Still an approximation.... Just sayin.
