If you want things to change, stop purchasing games until they've released and have been proven to be in fully working order. Complaining while still purchasing puts a big smile on the faces of board members.
I legit never experienced any of these issues all my planes and the world fully loading in streaming is perfect. only visual bugs like cargo boxes disappearing. and 2 crashes only takes a minute to get back on and zero loading screens. The detail increase in non photogrammetry places are a considerable step up ground level detail in northing Canada must be accrete down to the feet its incredible to see
@@sologiant2953 stop trolling. Theres a lot of people who dont know what quality is out there. They cant even see a jittery screen. I haven't seen one video where it didn't look like complete crap.
@@Bill-ysis No, he's right. 2024 blows 2020 out of the water for those of us that are having no loading issues in the sim and have been flying. More detailed, better lighting engine, better clouds, better performance, especially in VR. Better flight model, better thermals, better turbulence.
@ Well maybe that’s not such a bad idea. At least I can go back to older versions and play. What’s going to happen when MS decides to shut down the servers for 2024.
@@pilotstiles Then the game goes dead but by then it's highly likely that a newer version will be available. It all depends on what you want because, generally speaking, I don't touch cloud gaming but this and the last one are worth it for me.
We are, after all, only leasing the game from MS. We don't own it, and they can decide to stop leasing it to us any time they wish. MS says they'll drop support for MSFS 2020 in 2028, so we can likely expect an 8-year lease for FS-2024 as well, meaning we'll be paying about $100 over 8-years. Hopefully any additional money you've spent on addons will carry forward into MSFS 2028...
@@imacmill I don't know if they've said recently but for the last four years, since before launch, they promised 10 years of support which should mean an end in 2030. Of course, that doesn't mean they'll stick to that, or that servers for it will be turned off, it could just mean no more updates.
As a rule I never pre-order any game. As a new rule, if it’s on Microsoft Game Pass I’m highly skeptical that it will be a smooth launch and meet expectations of all the hype.
I noticed the question that no one is asking about MSFS2024. Since this game is mostly a cloud based game. Will you still be able to play if for whatever reason you have an internet outage or you want to have the choice of not playing online. Afterall many of us paid a lot of money for a game that should live on your PC. Just something to think about.
Well many of us made this comment before the release, so you're wrong. If it gets its data "on-the-fly" then obviously to be offline will be a problem. I suggest you also install X-Plane 12 as well :) As of 25th November mine loads and flys just fine, and it will only get better.
Oh and by the way many, many people play online games (first person shooters particularly) and there hasn't been whinging about that. You pays your money and makes your choice...
I am currently in day 4 of playing, without CTD's, weird stuff, but with some bugs here and there ( in career mode i keep getting warnings, that cost me points ). Other then that, most of my sceneries work, most of my planes too.
I had one crash in like 3 days of playing… I believe everyone having problems but for whatever reason I don’t know why I’ve not had many problems at all. (I will go home today probably and not be able to play at all because I said this)
I'm glad you're happy to be an unpaid tester for Microsoft. I got a refund. I'll likely go back top it eventually, but after 4 years I've only just got MSFS 2020 dialled in 😆
Absolutely the same scenario for me too, only thing I'd miss is the career mode, 2020 does get a bit boring after a while, even in VR. (I was refunded on Steam for 2024)
I have not had these many issues, not by a long shot. If anything, FS2024 has been less buggy than 2020 for me. Do with that what you want. I am not saying other people are not experiencing issues, of course not. I just think it is clearly not as straight forward as saying 'bad Microsoft/Asobo'. Software, including games, gets released before it is really polished - that is a fact of life. So there are bugs, and if Microsoft and Asobo were better companies, there would not be these bugs. But then also we would have had to wait months before being able to start flying. But again - my personal experience in MSFS2024 has been one of a newfound joy for flying. Improved visuals, while at the same time having improved performance, even in VR. Career mode, which I really like. Improved flight model for some aircraft (all aircraft I have tried except for the F/A-18 which has horrendous arcadey flight model, just like in 2020). I am very impressed with 2024. I uninstalled 2020, and I will not install it again, it has been replaced by 2024 for me and I am loving it. I just wanted to post this comment, because content creators on TH-cam has an actual effect on what people think about things. Someone watching videos like these, will think MSFS2024 is a terrible mess. And the thing is - even if it is a terrible mess for you personally - it is important for those of us who think this is clearly, undoubtedly, a great step forward and a joy to fly - to speak up, too, to give an alternative viewpoint. I am sorry that you are having such a bad experience, something with your hardware configuration or internet connection must be making things especially bad for you. But to me, MSFS2024 has been fantastic so far. Not bug free, but the bugs have been minor.
Finally, a video telling it like it is. I'm glad you have patience and confidence with MS & Asosbo. I feel, however, that a general release of a game to the wider public is not a good excuse to make people a guinea pig for an MS tech demo. The fundamental core issues with streaming tech should have been ironed out long before this got anywhere near release.
The cause was the massive influx of people from Game Pass, people forget you can play this sim without buying it if you have a Game Pass sub. This has been discussed in detail by the devs and in the official Discord. Steam users only make up a pretty small part of the overall community, on launch there were 2 MILLION people trying to log in. The devs have added more servers and have said they will continue to add more servers until the capacity meets the demand. For me personally I've been flying in the sim with no issues for 2 days now.
I actually said in one of these channels 6 months ago after one of the Sim updates that was a disaster " if asobo don't get these servers sorted before 2024 it will end up one of the worst Game launches in history let alone MSFS.. I decided several weeks ago I would avoid the launch and see how it goes before I jump over, so glad now I made that decision, the writing was on the wall months ago..
To be fair how do you simulate millions of users from different locations? I work in networking and there is no such test framework that do that... We still get physically people from different countries to connect to a server to test capacity, because faking it with VMs do not have the same impact. And the results are clear, just looking at this launch. It is a matter of capacity, nothing more; how many games got connection issues in the past 5 years, where people could not log in after getting the game? Just remember Diablo 4 not that long ago, and they were selling "early access" LOL
As a retired enterprise developer I have to disagree. What Microsoft is doing is newish to simulators, but not new to computing. We've been running with systems such as Business Intelligence and others on global servers for over two decades now. What this points to is an atrocious testing methodology. Yes, there is new tech afoot within the sim. Yes, the userbase is broad. The fact that Microsoft setup the simulator for only 200,000 concurrent users on day one shows an immense lack of experience or just a real ignorance when it comes to MSFS or with online gaming in general. Everything is fixable, but the sin here is releasing a product that does not appear to have been tested or managed properly. I think the developers are doing a great job, but the Project Managers need to be replaced. As for the architecture of MSFS2024. As you mention in the video, there are times you realize you are at the mercy of the server. It is very much like the mainframe paradigm of the 60s. I'll be interested to see the overall view of running flightsim online a year from now.
Update today. And as a professional this will probably click with you as it did me. Database Cache overload. Networks are fine, but have been throttle on purpose to allow the Databse servers to be increased and spread the load. Interested where you heard 200,000 users from?? Fully agree, stress test failure. Simple player based calculation failure and project manager failure (though I suspect project managers were overuled from above....then cop the blame).
Exactly! They said they underestimated the popularity on launch day. Really. It’s not like they didn’t have the numbers. I’m on Xbox and I can’t even fly because the mouse is fucked up, it just goes crazy.
For me, the worst bugs I've encountered excluding the initial launch and atrocious connection issue (seems mostly resolved tbf) are with audio and controllers. For some reason most aircraft audio just doesn't work. I've had the odd flight where it "seems" to be fine but 95% of the time all I can hear are external noises e.g. the menu, wind, ATC. Weirdly, the aircraft audio is there but just extremely quite compared to everything else so presumably unless I turn everything all the way down to 1 in settings and boost the system volume I won't be able to hear the aircraft engines or button clicks. Also when in cockpit view I'm getting some really annoying stick drift. The camera won't stay where I position it yet it's definitely not a hardware issue as no other view (eternal and showcase) does this. I also can't seem to set the camera axis properly. It all seems to be perfect in MSFS2020 but in the new version everything has gone tits up. I really hope they sort this long before they even think about thinking about starting work on a new simulator.
I must admit that I was given a refund - despite the game having recorded that I had played for over 25 hours - however - the playing time consisted of 95% of that time watching the whirling icon on the bottom right of my screen. I'll be back next year around March to give it another try.
Well bloody said man about those content creators that keep hiding the facts. I just mentioned in steam forums that maybe we should all refund and get it removed from the store till it’s finished, and I was banned from steam hub for 1 day. 😂
I’m with you. I refunded because the low bandwidth problems caused textures never to load in. I agree it’ll be good someday but it’s not something I can deal with. Looking out the window of a plane and seeing bad textures everywhere.
I'm in the UK and as of last night, the only way I could fly was using US servers. I have problems with invisible images in the menus, some settings not sticking and some other stuff but the flying itself has been excellent. So much smoother and better than 2020. I haven't bothered with my flightstick yet, just a controller because I don't want to set it up, just for a patch/update to delete it all. I can wait to use it until the UK servers are working for me and other issues are fixed.
@@leazesndr5318 I've just tried the UK servers again, after a small update, and they worked well. I managed to get my license and do the first sightseeing mission. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
@@MagicAyrtonforever I haven't been tracking FPS but I can now smoothly fly across London and New York with zero stutter. Something I couldn't do in 2020 on same settings, which is High.
That was EA though, and Sim City could run on a potato computer, while FS is a bit more complex than that, as the issue that we are dealing with, in terms of server sharing and access to resourcs :)
Very few issues at all for me. Yes, setting up one of the dozens of controllers will take time. Most peoples issues were from their ISP. My connection is perfect.
Just to correct you slightly....Nobody's Issues were with THEIR ISP. Asobo confirmed their database implementation could not cope, as soon as they realised this, they throttled internet access (whilst they added additional servers to spread the Database load) and then started to lift it as new Servers were stitched on.
BTW the controls issue you mention (where you try to assign a different control) was present in 2020 too; I get that all the time with my Virpil throttle, which is one device but split in 3x32 buttons devices. Honestly I am surprised how the whole thing works; but if I knew that the career mode and everything else also required being always online, maybe I would not buy the game. I was aware that the maps and data was streamed, and my thought was "OK, I will cache it on my computer"; so even in the worst case I can still play when the servers are offline as that is the whole point of having a cache on local NVME... Isn't it? but this thing that even to play career or other models you need to be online is BS at the highest level and I am sick and tired honestly. I bought a game to play on my own even if I am in a shack on the mount Everest or in the Amazon forest without internet... WTH
As I understand it you can assign one device (PC/Xbox) to work offline. Equally you can decide IF career has real traffic or not. So I think, possibly, you will be able to play career offline (difficult to be 100% atm) but now discovered the ause of the issue was database overload (which makes sense with missing data) like no career available one time i play, no cessna 172 ac the next....all a mess and all over the place. Should know more in 2 weeks I think.
@@SimUKReviews Thanks, I will look into it because this is totally unacceptable for me. I like 2020 as after you cache the map, you can fly offline. I knew this would happen, especially after they marketed this game so much... Non-sim fans jumped in as they saw it as a game more than a sim, and being on Xbox Pass completed the sequence of bad choices. They were supposed to make a smaller launch, get people in and then slowly open it to Xbox game pass...
I've been an MSFS Forum member for years, and one of the biggest problems I see reported is from users whose computer just meets the "Recommended Spec" of 8 GB VRAM. FS24 uses DX12 only, which uses more VRAM, and those users are reporting that when VRAM maxes out, the sim uses Standby Memory, which tanks their performance. Some are calling it a "memory leak" but I think it's just another example of why 'minimum' and 'recommended' computer specs are a complete joke. I suppose they could fly @ 1080p, but who wants to do that?
It's funny, I started the game the day after launch and I haven't noticed a single problem with logging in, with connection. Never seen the bad connection warning or anything at all, career has been working fine and so on. Seems to be regionally or something, I'm in sweden and its been perfect.
I got no problems either the day after launch, but that does not mean that there were no problems. I am in US West coast; pretty well connected area with large fiber optic
I fixed my issues yesterday by deleting my save profile from console then booting it up again. The first few days corrupted save for many who were tying to log in by the looks of things.
On Xbox , Ive been able to access to most stuff , except marketplace and world photography seems to crash a lot . I did get my PPL , but it hasn't been fun . I don;t think your throttle problem was you or your devices because the same thing has happened to me a few times , even the flight controls have locked up when it jumps mission stages . I'm kinda 50/50 on the whole experience so far .
The throttle issue I had was due to multiple devices having throttle bindings, once I removed the throttle access from my flight stick and only had it on my bravo then problem was solved, no other issues flying but freezes when I leave a flight and return to the main menu
My brother had CTD’s with the 737 max, he reinstalled today and everything is working great for him, maybe a fresh install now that the servers are better might be a good idea, not sure
Could MS sell a proprietary hard drive with the entire game/world on it and architect it in a way you would never have to download it all again unless somehow it got corrupted. Then they could feed in the weather and the traffic. It could also just be an option for user that don’t want to mess around with connection issues and also people with bandwidth maximums. 🤷🏼♂️
Did you notice that, when you try to push the throttle, in fact your engine is cut-off. You can see that in the Cessna, the contact key is heading on the left... just my 2 cents
Working good here, the key bindings are a learning curve, do wish they'd make library content downloadable for those that have the room, save some server bandwidth, win-win for everyone
So just wanted to thank you. Investigation showed that yes indeed!!! The second Yoke Ignition was overriding the Pilot's ignition. Removed the second ignition and all worked as expected. So thanks for spotting that.
For the first time last night (UK) I didn’t need to use a VPN to do anything with the sim even loading up and streaming in times on everything was decent. I hope this stays this way, it’s pretty dumb to be at the mercy of their scaling issues. Enjoying it though theres plenty of bugs, the worst being when the planes stop working for no particular reason having you hunt around the controls, or a few objects just dont load in looking like placeholder models, Its shocking to what length they’ve gone with streaming, for instance the coffee pot in the HQ wouldnt load in and was just a blob, I was like why? Its the same coffee everywhere just store it in the main install, same goes with the planes, why risk them not loading 😂
Worst thing they could of done is use streaming or cloud gaming apart from that it seems to be working alright now and crack on with Carrer mode with no issues now
They need to let us import our MSFS2020 set up. The Velocityone Flightstick default config was ignorant. They had to use a 4 yr old throwing darts at a board to assign things. I've spent more time adjusting the peripherals than flying!! And some of the buttons are still not working. The game crashes at the end of every flight.
Didn't work the day I downloaded it. But I guess when the servers settled down, it worked the following day. Great game. Looks way better in VR(Crystal) than MFS2020. York and Hull which are local to me, are modelled too.
just wait till people find out it streams data to you C drive by default, so will wear out the drive your OS is on. Theres a work around to change it to another drive that you load your games from though. Thinking of sticking to MSFS2020, but then i can see them turning off support for it as soon as possible, must be quite an overhead to keep it running.
Even though I'm in the UK, I've been using US servers because the UK ones are still crap. I have issues in the menus and with settings (nothing game breaking) but the flying itself has been top notch and super smooth even over cities.
I think it's a bit unfair to suggest that other TH-camrs aren't calling out bugs. One thing that seems pretty obvious so far is that some hardware configurations are more compatible than others. So far, I've had very few bugs, and almost none of the ones you mentioned. All of the TH-camrs I've seen so far have called out bugs as they've come across them, and most of them have been different from one another. I think the developers will need to test with various hardware configurations to resolve some of these issues. I'm not just talking about peripherals; I'm talking about PC hardware as well.
Just started today.. 3 days after launch ya? US. I opted to buy through steam thinking the install wouldn't be this messed up hodgepodge forced to C drive install that MS always does but nope, they even take over the steam install. It doesn't even name the folders in any way that makes sense, instead of just making a MSFS2024 folder under where you would install your steam games (for me on my 4TB ssd); it makes some folder called Limitless.. wtf LOL But apparently STILL puts a crap ton of the stuff in your C drive under you username local whatever..and to top it off locks it where you can't access it. I am able to get in and do 'some' flying tho. I'm just getting tons of CTD's, the FPS is horrid. I've got 10900K and 4090, the 10900K i know is a bottle neck but I should be doing better than 12-17 fps.
They need to change it so we can install it. It’s all part of the fun installing a game you’re excited for. My internet sucks . Bottom line I can play 2020 but 2024 doesn’t work
"I'm not going to condemn them, but I condemn them" :P I mean in all honesty, it's not like Asobo WANTED to release the game in a broken state. No developer wants to release a broken game - it's mortifying and bad for team morale. Developers are beheld to their publishers, in this case, Microsoft. They wanted the game out for the holiday season, so they pushed Asobo to launch it. It's unfortunate, but that's the truth. I've really only experienced issues on day-one, personally. Since then, It's been fairly smooth sailing. Some bugs for sure, like characters sticking out of airplanes or something, but nothing game-breaking. I'm sure they are working as hard as they can, to resolve these issues.
At 5:30-ish you're talking about how you've got no throttle. Look at your engine instrumentation--your fuel flow, oil temp, and EGT are all flat-lined. Your engine isn't even on, dude. You probably pulled mixture accidentally when you loaded in.
Freelook with mouse on Xbox is totally bugged out. Anytime you attempt to use the mouse to freelook it just goes into hyper spin and ends up facing the floor. Unplayable until that is fixed. Otherwise the content and modes seem awesome.
All - Left 2020 last year (2022) because if just never worked like its predecessor, "X". Yes, the graphics were great, but the cost in bandwidth to get them was horrendous. The supplied planes never operated correctly, OK, the Big Iron ones I flew. I purchased PMDGs 737, and the final straw was a hydraulic issue I could not clear, later on it was reveled, it was a bug, by them, I had had it. I have TOL hardware, a 50mb connection, excellent virpil flight controls, so none of the issue was on my end. Been sim pilot, since FS-95, was taught to fly by a real world MD-11 Captain. I went to XP 11 first, and once left MSFS, took on 12, and have never looked back. Takes 4+ minutes to get 2020 to load, XP12, less than 45 seconds. Flight Planning, in sim was dismal, in PMDG plane was marginal to good. In XP the SSG-747 is top notch at least 96% of study level. I recommend XP-12 bar none, and SSG 747 is excellent. Happy Flying, oh, won't waste time nor money on 2024. Great review. Oh, XP-11 and 12 have custom aircraft setup, and that does not take 3 days, but less than 30 minutes.
I can't believe they have not loaded presents for so many popular controllers. My cheap little thrustmaster hotas 4 is one of the most popular controllers out there for beginners and there's no presets. The input system is too confusing and I program midi & dmx controllers!! I don't want to waste time inputting something that should be already there!
We are the Test Pilots or is Crash Dummies for this release. I've spent several hours too many and the furthest I've gotten was a ten second 'flight' down the runway in a sputtering 172. I'll try again after January, if I see videos of people flying... not crying.
I love this sim! runs smooth as a baby's ass. I have the recommended specs , RTX x2080, 32 gig DDR, Intel I 7 - 10 700 and a constant 300 MBS internet connection. HP Reverb G2 V2 and Quest 3 with Virtual desktop.. This is one amazing sim!! Unreal graphics. I believe having hi speed internet is essential for problem free play. The game took 70 minutes to load on launch day, now 4 to 6 minutes to load! crashed 2 times on launch day, none since then.. .Ok bye, going flying!
Good practical thoughts thanks. I’d like to say I’ve managed a take off in MSFS2024 but I haven’t even done that. The stream is so jumpy and fractured right now it’s impossible to use. I played the previous game on 15gb of upload very well. I now have 150gb on fibre, but it’s still looking dreadful. Like you I admire ASOBO for pushing the boundaries, but I’m starting to wonder if this will ever work. Can you really run a demanding game off a server in the cloud. It’s not looking good right now. Will future updates to fix this by putting more of the game back on our PCs? I’m not an expert but right now I’d welcome that if it could run better. And what about that fortune I spent on peripheral in the old game, will they ever work here? I’m starting to wonder. Was it worth messing those up so I could walk round a ‘plane? Not really, I’m not remotely interested in career mode. Well, we’ll see. But right now it’s back to MSFs 2020 for me, with relief.
(NO SHOUTING) *---ALL WILL BE IMPROVED IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE THERE ARE VARIOUS THINGS THAT DO NOT WORK DUE TO SERVERS OVERLOAD. IN ONE MONTH, THINGS WILL START GETTING BETTER.*
The completely new never before seen anywhere in the universe control configuration. Dam,I have wasted a bunch of time getting it figured out. This is what happens when you make a complete change without out a list of features/functions that actually work and customers like so you can make sure your brand new system accomplishes the same thing . Also, since they never provide instructions, and like to make complete interface changs, they need to learn that intuitiveness is of the utmost importance. I think it's time to go third party for the controls. The rest of the system, well, I am fortunate that the day after it installed, it works pretty well. Now for the little bugs and misses. My big thing is I can't wait for my third party aircraft to get fixed as the Asobo aircraft even the joint developed ones always feel, well kinda look and feel like a toy aircraft. But, that will get fixed quickly and we'll be back in business.
The key bindings are a pain in the ass. The game today started ctd's in missions and i can only use free flight. Boat traffic is not there, nor i have any visible plane traffic, and the textures are loading very slow. There are to many problems for now to use this game. It's not only bugs, it's an unfinished, untested product!
(NO SHOUTING) *THE FIRST THING YOU MUST STATE IN YOUR VIDEO IS YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION SPEED AND YOU FAIL TO DO THAT??? IF YOU DO NOT, BASICALLY YOUR COMMENTS ARE NOT AS USEFUL IN MANY WAYS.*
Well, I have to admit. I knew it would be wise to ignore MSFS2024 for at least a year or so for the bugs to be worked out. MSFS2020 proved that point to me right off the bat. I felt like a beta tester for quite some time during the early stages of 2020. They did get everything worked out, but it took years to prefect. I'm looking forward to 2024, but I'll wait.
You know, I purchased MSFS 2020, and I'm very happy with it. I am SO glad I didn't fall for the same hype that others jumped on, thinking this was going to be so much fun! And for the price, it should be!!! It's a real shame that Microsoft couldn't get this right when you think of how long they worked on making this right for those who purchased the new 2024. Shame on Microsoft for making this such a disappointment for so many flyers!
im currently 3rd place in the challenge leaque im loveing it so far i feel alot of these problems are with the uk servers, am in canada and its working properly
I'm on Xbox have been trying fs2024 since Tuesday in the morning before work and evening and so far only flown for 30 secs before game kicks me out also textures missing and velocity flight stick controls are all opposite have basically given up now gone back to fs2020
Input system is surprisingly bad and unfriendly. They got critique for fs2020 controller setup and acknowledged it. And then bring forward this... The server and first week aircraft issues I can't be bothered about for now, they will get there I believe based on track record in msfs2020. With sutch a massive sim and program, including streaming change, MSFS 2024(should have been 2025?) is possibly one of the few software I would have supported soft launch in form of "early access" and customer acceptence that this is WIP.
I am so annoyed with this release. I am on Series X and purchased the standard edition......thankfully. Three days and still cannot load past 98%. I have tried many times but no joy. I even got up at 02.00 to see if that would make a difference, but no. I would have preferred a full installation of 200 GB or more if it actually allowed me to play what I paid for.
@SimUKReviews bugger, I'm enjoying it so far. There are alot of bugs though and the missions don't really pay well it's going to be one hell of a grind that's for sure. Ps don't sell your first plane Evan though you buy it for 20k you can sell it for 130k but I wouldn't do it I did. Now to buy a plane it cost 220k+
Turned off from my long-running affair with FS after I got stuck in an eternal update loop from the 2020 version. Gonna try to stick with games that work.
I honestly don't know what people are bitching about. i bought the game today and spent a few hours playing the career mode and the longest loading screen i had in game was lucky to be 30 seconds. Makes me wonder how many of these people are trying to play with a PC that can't handle the game.
Why not give an option to download the sim like MSFS2020. Let those who want to stream stream and those who want to play offline, for god's sake, let them play offline.
I saw this train wreck coming, and so glad I opted to skip preorder because I would have been irate at a broken game after dropping $200. First time in ~40 years I didn’t get the sim the day it released.
They completely botched this game. It's really astounding. The always online crap.... I can't even figure out how to change the weather and time in game and how to use the hurricane weather. Just a big oof. Was excited to play the missions and stuff then played for awhile and was like aaaahhhh nah... Sad day really lol😂
Tried it with game pass and I won't buy it. Don't like the feeling of being full dependent of their bunch of servers, it's like the game would not be mine. For me this is like buying a car and phone the vendor to bring it to your home, each time you want to use it. If he's sick, no car. 🤣
its a disaster, they should have tested this more before releasing, they knew the hype, and its disappointing to see everything is streaming from a server, even aircrafts, why cant they make it downloadable, not good at all, not good.
There's too much hype that the 2024 graphics is somehow "amazing" and that makes 2024 ok. It's an incremental update from 2020 but when airborne somewhere other than new hand-crafted scenery, the view from the air is good but not transformational in terms of flight simulation as it was with 2020. And then... and then... you're left with the truly AWFUL systems implementations of the "simulation". Loading times are horrible, streaming of data is causing far more problems than it is solving, and the engineers that designed it just slotted it behind the file system and hoped everything would sort itself out. This means sometimes you are waiting for the airport runways to populate on the world map when the ENTIRE flightsim airport database is only 8MB and should have been kept local. There is not a single 2020 aircraft that moves over to 2024 without major glitches just because Asobo/WT changed things without thinking and some of the stock aircraft are now broken but Asobo hasn't noticed. The MarketPlace was delayed "several weeks" literally days before the launch date because of that, where the plan right up to a few days before was "we're aiming for full compatibility" but as soon as the 3rd-party devs saw it that was obviously a ridiculous statement but Jorg didn't seem to know.
yea, fanboys are glazing all over the "improvements" its incremental at best. its funny how many people are willing to hand over 60-200 bucks and not expect a working product.
I have to disagree. In my mind the core changes are monumental, right now it is a mess, but IF they get it running smooth....I think 2020 will be forgotten about fast.
Did you download a different game than me? Mine downloaded and installed in minutes - it was actually impressive. In my limited time using the sim I have not experienced a single issue. I'm sure there'll be bugs as there is in EVERY piece of software ever produced, but they will be worked out. It seems that your biggest complaint is that setup and configuring inputs is different from what you are used to - msfs 2020 was different from FSX too, but you figured that out.
What gets me Microsoft could have added these new features to FS 2020. My programing friend told me who has been programing for years told me this. So, Microsoft just did a cash grab.
I'm sorry but this is nothing new. Streaming data is something happening every day, msfs 2020 still has issues with it. It is the most annoying part of the sim when you get to the city and the photogrametry doesn't load in properly. Sos I buy and download cities. Yes the amount is large, I would say that is the issue. The design is the flaw here. Instead of moving to better compression, optimisation of data locally they double down on cloud servers. Awful release but it's a core issue that will not go away.
I'm gonna give this sim the Cyberpunk treatment. Wait until it's fixed before purchasing. 👍
If you want things to change, stop purchasing games until they've released and have been proven to be in fully working order. Complaining while still purchasing puts a big smile on the faces of board members.
@SooHooSamaSito thats true, however, some people trusted that Microsoft brnad to deliver..dont quite blame them but I do
I pre order and don't regret it. Game of the year for me nearly flawless 100x better then msfs2020
@@coconutskunk Microsoft hasn't delivered for 11 years. Where have you been.
Made me appreciate 2020 more
Factz bro
2020 is really bad compared to 2024 lol
@@sologiant2953Good rage bait. Nice try diddy.
@sologiant2953 Is it really cause from what I've been seeing im not sure
@@Bill-ysis No, he's right. 2024 blows 2020 out of the water for those of us that are having no loading issues in the sim and have been flying. More detailed, better lighting engine, better clouds, better performance, especially in VR.
Better flight model, better thermals, better turbulence.
I do not like fact you have to depend on cloud gaming. I do not like cloud gaming and will resist as much as I can. I want a total offline mode.
Not going to happen, not with anything but horrendous quality. If you still want that you may as well go back to Flight Sim X.
Well of course not.
I have not flown yet. Bed time comes faster than the load time.
I know what you mean. Three days and still 98%.
🤣 Dream about flying, prob better than actually doing it in MSFS24 right now anyway.
Are yall in some weird part of the globe? Idgi
No absolutely, seems to be a mixed bag ATM. Glad it is running well for you & I can see (despite all the issues) there is going to be a lot to like.
they should have figured out how to do this before taking people's money! it's fraud so stop making excuses for them.
@@Skunk-420 Works like a charm to me. There was an issue which was fixed in 2 days.. how is this a fraud? :D
I've not even managed to create my character yet. I'm leaving it now until next year. Plenty of flying to be done in FS2020!
What did support say?
You don't seem to understand how the franchise has always been run.
Who’d have guessed? Oh, I did. I might have a look next spring.
My TURTLE BEACH VELOCITY ONE FLIGHT STICK has screen drift in cockpit view for no reason at all. It works fine in 2020.
Interesting.
Only thing I can suggest is increase the dead zone until fixed?
@ nah it’s a bug it works fine in 2020. They need to fix it
@@Blueesteel_ mine doing the same. And when setup a profile for all helicopters, it only works on the one you set it up with?? So annoying.
@ I only tried the Cessna 172 so far I haven’t tried helis yet but it’s really unacceptable and needs to be addressed by turtlebeach or Microsoft
@@patrickjmoynihan I had the same problem (UK), I now go through a VPN with the region set to USA and it works perfectly.
Annnnnnnd I decided to just Replay 2020
I'm not pressed to walk around my Plane if everyone else on ground can walk right through it 😅
I'm in the UK and as of last night, the only way I could fly was using US servers.
Smoother than 2020? on average 10 fps less on 2024 with exactly the same settings!
@@MagicAyrtonforever I haven't been tracking FPS but I can now smoothly fly across London and New York with zero stutter. Something I couldn't do in 2020 on same settings, which is High.
Sim City 2013 all over again. Will they ever learn?
sim city 2013 was a masterpiece after they fixed the launch issues though
Got a good news update coming in about 15mins.
Shhhhhhh.....I'm glad for you, but I'm worried about your health if too many people know it is all working fine for you.
Don't worry, our secret 😉
Day 5 and still can’t get in, I’m losing my mind, I’m ready to get a refund
Where are you and what you using?
@ problem is if you have over 32 cores the game won’t load, thread on steam about ctd at 90%, I’m in, now have to work early in the morning 😭
Working good here, the key bindings are a learning curve, do wish they'd make library content downloadable for those that have the room, save some server bandwidth, win-win for everyone
yeah, the template setup (Livery, fuel, cargo) will be gone after restart. At least that was my experience.
On your honeycomb yoke it looks like you have the IGNITION KEY set to “OFF” and why your having problems with the throttle not working
You can even see in your video when you show the planes cockpit ignition key, you have it off, should be in “BOTH” position
Enjoying it though theres plenty of bugs, the worst being when the planes stop working for no particular reason having you hunt around the controls, or a few objects just dont load in looking like placeholder models,
Its shocking to what length they’ve gone with streaming, for instance the coffee pot in the HQ wouldnt load in and was just a blob, I was like why?
Thought I was gonna have lots of issue as well but everything since downloading last night has been smooth for me. Idk if it cause I am in the US tho
I've got a VPN and chose an American server, Game installed and plays flawless 👌
They need to change it so we can install it. It’s all part of the fun installing a game you’re excited for. My internet sucks . Bottom line I can play 2020 but 2024 doesn’t work
in career mode the plane keeps going up and down on its own and obviously restarting the mission as it’s ’in dangering the aircraft”
There’s RPM and oil pressure so…
Freelook with mouse on Xbox is totally bugged out.
I'll try again after January, if I see videos of people flying... not crying.
Is anyone having issues using the mouse in the cockpit? Mine goes 1,000,000 miles an hour.
You need to notice… aircraft are now stored online.
The game took 70 minutes to load on launch day, now 4 to 6 minutes to load! crashed 2 times on launch day, none since then.. .Ok bye, going flying!
lol Basta...I mean :-) Very glad and not at all jealous that you're having a smooth and enjoyable experience. Hope to join you SOON. :-)
Looks like your mags were off witch would explain the throttle
(NO SHOUTING) *---ALL WILL BE IMPROVED IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE THERE ARE VARIOUS THINGS THAT DO NOT WORK DUE TO SERVERS OVERLOAD. IN ONE MONTH, THINGS WILL START GETTING BETTER.*
lol well it is weird you say that because in about 10mins.....
IF YOU DO NOT, BASICALLY YOUR COMMENTS ARE NOT AS USEFUL IN MANY WAYS.*
lol well it is weird you say that because in about 10mins.....I will correct YOU. Has nothing to do with your internet connection speed :-)
Can't call it MSFS 2024 if you don't release it in 2024
😆 so true 👍
Reason there area major issues case they were more then 200,000 players login on the servers. It could not cope and crash.
I'm so torn between buying 2020 instead or going over to X-Plane.
Honestly, I would wait just a little while before.dexiding.
@ it’s just so disappointing. I’d hoped to use 2024 as a companion to my real world lessons. Bought the Turtle Beach Velocity yoke ready for it. 😔
So I've basically paid $160 for a thin client tech alpha
im currently 3rd place in the challenge leaque im loveing it so far i feel alot of these problems are with the uk servers, am in canada and its working properly
Congrats!
I have no proof, but I do feel like they are slowly unblocking section by section.
Are you PC or console?
@@SimUKReviews pc friend 3080gpu 8700kcpu i am also runnig lossless scaling a program on steam almost double my frames
OK Nice, I remember that software...Like and Unofficial DLSS back in the day.
I guess you're not having the throttle bug I am?
@@SimUKReviews no bugs i am also using bravo throttle
@@tnutt666 How did you save your cockpit camera settings. I can't seem to save and load them. And my Tobii doesnt work properly either.
I'm on Xbox have been trying fs2024 since Tuesday in the morning before work and evening and so far only flown for 30 secs before game kicks me out also textures missing and velocity flight stick controls are all opposite have basically given up now gone back to fs2020
"It´s only an alpha" two weeks before release was big red flag. now it´s a beta we have to pay for.
U got the skydiving missions bug where the flight plan doesn't match up with the path u need to take?
No, I can barely get anything to work at all yet lol
@SimUKReviews bugger, I'm enjoying it so far. There are alot of bugs though and the missions don't really pay well it's going to be one hell of a grind that's for sure. Ps don't sell your first plane Evan though you buy it for 20k you can sell it for 130k but I wouldn't do it I did. Now to buy a plane it cost 220k+
Turned off from my long-running affair with FS after I got stuck in an eternal update loop from the 2020 version. Gonna try to stick with games that work.
I’m on Xbox and the mouse is so screwed up I can’t even fly.
I honestly don't know what people are bitching about.
i bought the game today and spent a few hours playing the career mode and the longest loading screen i had in game was lucky to be 30 seconds.
Makes me wonder how many of these people are trying to play with a PC that can't handle the game.
even if they said you can download it to a 8 tb i would be happy.
I mean no? I havent had issues since the first day
Where in the world are you please? Seems possibly to be location relevant (or at least I am trying to work out if that is the case)
Can we please talk about the absolutely CURSED AI generated thumbnail 😂
In career mode you can get a PPL in 15 minutes took me 1 year in real life. WHAT'S THE POINT!!
Yeah I’m not even touching this game for atleast another two months and see what it’s like then
Why not give an option to download the sim like MSFS2020. Let those who want to stream stream and those who want to play offline, for god's sake, let them play offline.
Microsoft, just sell the 1tb nvme version of 1/2000th of the entire map.
I wish every sim copied DCS way to configure controllers
Oh and lets face it, MSFS 2020 is a better game/sim.
Not so sure. As.bad as it is (really terrible) I have a good feeling about it. Can't explain it, and might be wrong.
But I do feel excited still.
I have given up. Can't get anything to work. Uninstalled it and waiting till they patch it. Its a disgrace.. thank god it was part of gamepass.
Hello, the only reason I don’t subscribe is that the music or sound in the background disturbs me. If you want to talk to me, tank, don’t play (music)
@@mosheflute yes, always the background music, wy!,,
Terrible person you are
January 2025 I will download it, let all the bugs get ironed out for the rest of the year.
I love msfs 2020 😊
Got a refund from Steam , maybe revisit the sim if they get it fixed ....
