There are a couple ways to win this and you were close on a few of them:
    1. Keep up the macro. Keep taking bases and mining, using the extra money when capped to build a lot more production. Once you have a war chest and they are stuck on 2 base, you can burn an army attacking into a siege line since you can rebuild in seconds and they cannot.
    2. Go around the siege line. Your Viking drop idea was great. If you had done it with 6 medivacs full of marines and tanks, he would have lost his whole main base and then he would just have an army sitting between your 2 sieged armies.
    3. Upgrades, lib range, ghosts and nukes. All good ideas. Battlecruisers were also an option. This connects with #1. If you have more money you can build anything you want.
Bottom line on turtle Terrans is to take advantage of their passive play with a big economic engine and more tech. It’s a long and frustrating game if they get set up, but you can take them down eventually.
In these games I tend to follow Vibe’s B2GM mech build and just keep sending Thor hellbat into the fire with a huge economy and production behind it.

Yeah totally man. There were a million options here for me. My failure was just trying to do the same as my opponent when I should have diversified

It is very popular to have this mutual siege state in TvT (I like to think that it is a mexican standoff). There are several ways of dealing with it depending on your micro and multitasking skills. The general knowledge here is something you already know is that a siege tank has slightly less vision than its fire range so you need orbital or other units to give it better vision. So, based on that you can:
    1. Build more vikings to win the air and then you can use the vikings to get better vision and to keep the opponents vikings and medivacs aways so that they don't get vision. Once you have that you can slowly move your tanks forward and push them away. They still can use scans and kill your tanks when they are not sieged but this is fine because every scan is a lost 400 minerals for them in mining time with a Mule. So that's a win.
    2. Once you control the air you can add a liberator and push their tanks away. They key thing is to set the liberators so that the tanks are berely touching the liberators range-circle (to make sure they don't kill your liberators with marines).
    3. Spell-casters. You can build 2-3 ravens and throw the spell that deactivates their tanks for several seconds. That should be enough time to move your tanks forward and win the tank duel.
    4. Clocked banshees. They are quick and effective. You can quickly take one tank and fall back until they throw a scan. That will give you both: a killed tank and a lost minerals for a mule.
    5. You had good bank at the time so you could've just invested in Tier-3 tech and make BCs.

25:58 "Gonna chuck a load of mules in the way just to give them something to shoot at, so they don't shoot anything important"
Enemy' Marines proceeds to turn their back to the mules and target Starport. 😅😂
Anyway I'm glad I found this channel since I am tired of watching only high level SCII where everything seems incredibly easy (it's really not!). Keep up the good game!

@@VoidspacealphaI definitely wouldn't care about placement, but I just play occasionally the campaign during the Summer and every time I have to reacquaint myself with the game so it's a bit of a struggle, but maybe just for fun I'll try, thanks!

10:59 at this moment, if you go home and macro, you can come back with double his army in 3 minutes. He’s on 2 or 3 base. You just finished your 4th.
If he wants to turtle like that, you let him, deny his expansions and build toward the next phase. His main will be mined out in 2 minutes and he’ll get desperate.
The surest way to lose from here is to YOLO against his fortified position. The second surest way is to sit around next to him banking minerals and let him slowly pick you apart, e.g. picking off medivacs with vikings.
Imagine you dropped a second starport and 4 more barracks, spent the 3 k resources you have banked and came back in 3 minutes with 6 medivacs, 6 tanks, 10 vikings, and 30 marines with 2/2 or 3/3.

    • @Voidspacealpha
      @Voidspacealpha  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I really should have had enough buildings to produce an army in like 30 seconds. I had total control of the map and unlimited money. That game was mine to lose

  • @vbabaev

Look at this split second at 12:15 when you are messing up your hot-keys. That used to happen to me a lot before I found out what is happening. Basically, you selected a group and then was right clicking on the area and clicked at the #1 control group button so it reassigned your barracks to the control-group-1.
That might happen a lot when you are actively microing your units in a fight but you can actually switch it off in the game control settings! (just to make control groups unassignable through interface so that you can do it with hotkeys only).

Been on the arse end of those types of games enough in my time. I would say that when you had a poke around his main when sieged, there was no turrets or tanks or anything.. Grab as many medivacs as you can and fill them with marines, and a few tanks to scare.. take out his production as he would be running out of cash to rebuild and make units. Failing that, there was plenty of time to get a few ghosts and nukes. Try and force him to unsiege and yolo it. Very frustrating when people turtle like that though, and I usually lose patience and throw them myself

to get further you need to improve the following 10 things
1- Army control - siege your tanks when they come out - at the end you moved your tanks to close before sieging do it further back and the pull other untis back to the sieged tanks.
2 - upgrades - not even combat shields was upgraded - when you have excess money think upgrades
3 -planetary - 4th and 5th command centres should be planetaries - if the base that was dropped near the end was a planetary and circled but turrets possible different out come -you easily had the money to do so.
4 - for the love of god HOLD position your marines in the siege line - make this a habit -- every time you move marines - hold position after -- all the time to make it a habit. having said that the Russian army in the Ukraine would be proud of your unintended meat assaults.
5 - in games where there are siege lines, he who controls the skies controls the game.
6- liberators - when trying to dislodge tank siege up the libs so the tanks are at the edge of the liberation zones not in the middle - to many times marines killed your libs because they sieged to far forward and away from support.
7 - not so much this game but before you place any building think about what comes out of the building and consider if it will be stuck because of building placement also are your building attackable by siege tanks where you place them - if they are at the edge of a base then most likely yes
8 - turret placement. do so at the edge of the base near sky areas. start attacking drop ships as they start to enter your base.
9 - If other player has committed to front defence consider a sizable drop on their production and/or supple depots
10 - Sentry towers - always good for games like this consider building one at the front where the action is to see enemy movements
you usually win because you outproduce your opponent and then overwhelm them. However, in this game you massively out mined and out produced them but their unit manipulation, patience and upgrades (the 10 things above) won them the game (theirs still wasn't the best either but much better than yours). you will face this more and more as you climb the ladder.

  • @albertbergquist2113

The 2nd supply needs to go be the barracks to be a reaper wall. When you started your 3rd and 4th you should start long range mining, you are that over stacked.
"how do i break this?" - nukes.
Please put your marines on Hold position :)
A cheeky and fun thins is dropping Mules on the enemy infantry to get their tanks to do friendly fire, but it's not really viable. :)
When he finally counter dropped you, you didn't siege tanks or stim your marines and wait for a 2nd round of reinforcements. You could have held that.

  • @MrDenniy
    @MrDenniy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Alternative to trying to break his siege is to maintain the stalemate and then doom drop his production (basically what he did to you except he was hitting your economy).
Imagine getting a siege position on top of his ramp that he has to find a way to fight up into his own base to break 🤣!

    “I’m failing at talking…” don’t sweat it.
Pig, one of the absolute lead commentators and content creators in SC2, often plays 5 minutes without saying a word on his own videos. Then he’ll say something like “ah, that’s…” and wont say anything for another 3 minutes, not even completing his sentence.
You’re doing great at talking and playing. Part of the challenge is you can’t literally describe the game at the speed it is played. 100 APM is more than 1.5 actions PER SECOND (and thats not even a fast pace).
